That was the best walk through, on all of You Tube. The man knows his stuff.

Fantastic information. All the kind of things that you're too shy to ask, brilliant!

Thank you soooo much for this video. Just got this motor as my first outboard and I wanted to make sure I broke it in properly and understood all the procedures and steps for using this motor.

I'm wondering why the engine can't come already broken in?

The sight glass shows the correct oil level at full up tilt !

No that's what you would think. But it doesn't. You can have at the correct level on the dipstick. But you can't see any oil through that window.
It's literally there to tell you that the oil is moving around in there, that's it!

Hi there, I just bought a 2021 used Yamaha 2.5 very little hours. Started it for first time today in a closed loop circuit (my bucket). Was very eager to run it and the only water I could get was from a hot water hose as the cold water supply was closed for the winter. I went through different rpms and ran it max rpms in neutral for probably 2-3 mins, water in bucket was very hot. Engine shut off and made a quick cranking sound. Couldn't get it to start again. Checked compression by putting my finger by the spark plug hole and didn't feel any compression. Put an inline spark plug tester and the tester blinks when I pull the coil. Could the hot water have damaged the outboard? Any next steps to diagnose what needs fixing?
    Thanks!

So I can't pull the engine up on my kayak because the throttle handle has to be forward... that's a deal breaker.... damn

How long does the gas last, I know it depends on the throttle position, but at lets say 50% ?

Well I've had mine out for an approx, 1 hour and 20mins minutes. At various speeds throughout.
      Then it was empty.
      On the sea.
A fair sized inflatable dinghy, with a hard floor. A few things. Small carry fuel tank full. I'm heavy.

Not a fan of the engine. Carb jets too small; clogs too easy. Had my 2016 apart about 7 times.
