Another great Vlog Richard. It looks like a really difficult area to to work with as it is so vast. It takes so much time and patience to hope that something is going to come close enough to get some reasonable images. I am surprised you manage to get so many. I sense your frustration that you are not getting enough time to get out and fully understand how difficult it can be especially when there is pressure to produce content. Keep up the great work and look forward to you capturing that illusive falcon that is around. Cheers Keith
Hi Keith, it is a bit hit and miss and my time is always quite limited but as you know you've got to go with what you've got! Yes, the pressure is there a bit but if I can't I won't and hope that the loyal Subscribers stay with me, although you can't please them all, can be quite a cut throat but hey I will keep going as I enjoy it but if there comes a time and the enjoyment goes, I will more than likely stop! Fingers crossed it won't come to that! Yes that Falcon!!! Where are you, lol. All the best and thanks again. R :-)
Awesome as always Richard, great to see the Merlin at the end!🙏. Heat haze is always a pain but quite like the effect on the videos. Keep up the great work mate, I always learn something:-) cheers Matt👍
Very enjoyable .A long time since I`ve been down your way .A good friend use to live in Heamoor but has now moved back home here on the Lancashire coast .I must pick up one of those window bean bags for my Landy .Best Michael
Thanks Michael, it’s a nice part of the world with quite a diverse range of wildlife so generally plenty to photograph! Although it has its quiet times, lol... window beanbags are superb, never leave home without it👍. All the best R :-) 😀
Loved the Merlin Richard, it looks like you are going to be very busy for the next few months but like me it helps when you know the local area like the back of your hand. It will be great to see more of your local area in the coming months mate👍 Perhaps you can bring your boy along as an assistant!!!
Hi there Scott, thanks very much mate, such a lucky couple of shots as I was leaving the Airfield, lol.. Typical in Wildlife photography but such a great surprise! Only today the local birders have been spotting a few with a very nice looking adult Male so I'm heading out tomorrow on my day off:-) I have thought about bringing the boy along, he sits in the hide with me sometimes and is a budding naturalist, hope it lasts. thanks again. R :-)
I love trying to get shots of the raptors - very special and amazing birds, and I know it can be difficult! Great video and images, and the music was nice too!
Thanks very much:-) they really are! Not always the easiest but I do love the challenge and it would be boring if you got them every time, lol.. thanks so much for commenting, all the very best. R 😉👍
Laurence Arnold cheers Laurence! Thank goodness it made an appearance👍🙏! Heat haze was awful but I had to run with it! Thanks for commenting, very much appreciated 😉
Great Vlog mate.. Nice to see the kestrel. Shame there was no merlin or Harrier shots. Also looking forward to the Otters. I also will be doing the Red Deer run in October..👍
It was mate, hard work and the heat Haze was pretty bad but hey I had to go with it. Did you see the Merlin shot at the end? Nice surprise as I was leave, distant but what a great little bird. Cheers for watching :-) R
Hello Richard I am slowly catching up with your videos I spoke with you a while back I tried to contact you on the site you advised but I could not get through. It must be good working in that environment best of both worlds. All the best. Carl
Hi Carl, nice one and thanks for watching:-) It really is and very lucky indeed to have the space and access! Sorry to hear you've had difficulties, anything I can help with? R :-)
That is quite a good sized area you have access too Richard, is it public land or MOD? The frustrations of wildlife life photography eh? Still it is worth it when those special shots come along, totally at the mercy of the animals and totally worth it. Nice shots, kestrels are of my favourite subjects to photograph 🙂👍👍
Yes it's pretty good, 780 Acres to myself when there is no flying that is! It's MOD and run by the Royal Navy and is off limits to the general public, hence why the Wildlife thrives so well, really glad to get a shot of the Merlin at the end! Just as I was leaving 👍😀. Your kestrel shots are lovely, need to work on my local pair to get some better ones, all the best mate and thanks again for taking the time to comment, always appreciated. R:-)
As always a lovely vlog, full of interesting information on the subjects .Your enthusiasm is also evident and I feel the excitement when something, even the more common birds are photographed (buzzards are my favourite).Understand and really appreciate the time and effort it takes on making these vlogs. With your limited time available I look forward to the next one.Best wishes.Alison.
Hi there Alison, great yo have your regular support on the channel, it’s really appreciated! It does take lots of time, more time at home editing on the computer than out in the field but I really enjoy it and glad you do too🙏👍. All the best and thanks again. R:-) 👍
When I go up on the plain I always get lost by the vast area. People seem to get shots from the training area! The entire plain then with red flags up! I know someone with the locations of every rare bird on the plain but he is sworn to the official secrets act! ( however he retires soon!). Anyway the airfield looks great but again it is a large area to cover, great to have the Landrover. I fancy doing a great bustard shoot but will have to organise that with the protection group. Anyway let me know if you would like to do a meet up not necessarily on the Plain (we might never see each other)? Enjoying your videos better luck next time with the Merlin and Harrier you just have to get lucky soon!!
The plain is huge isn't it! what a place for Wildlife and seeing as it's MOD run and used the Wildlife thrives there! Magical, would love to meet up sometime, hopefully soon if we don't go in to lockdown again! Did you see my Merlin shot at the end, saw it and got a quick picture on the way out the gate, lol.. typical. Thanks again Richard :-)
Hey Rich, I managed to get lucky with the GoPro Media Mod week before last, I must have just timed it right. I’ve been waiting ages for it also. Have you got your hands on one yet?
Rich Carus hi there Rich, nope still waiting 3 months later! Nightmare, they bought out the GoPro 8 into the UK market but the bits weren’t released until much later, then when they did come supply and demand was on overdrive! Sorry rant, but so frustrating for the consumer! I’ve resulted in using a cheap amazon foam cover for now! Please tell me it’s worth the wait🤞🏻🤞🏻😯
@@RichardBirchett it is definitely worth the wait. I've been using my 8 with my Wireless Go also and it works really well. The only thing to be wary of is that the Mod renders the GoPro NOT waterproof, just somethign to be wary of. I broke my Osmo Pocket in France when it got wet, thankfully I happened to login to GoPro Plus and the unit was available. Do you subscribe to Plus? they may be prioritising Plus customers? I got a discount as a subscriber also. Hope all is well Sir.
Hi Rich, thanks for the info my friend, happy with that as I never really use it in heavy rain but good to be aware of. I’m not a member and will look into it, still not showing as in stock in the website! Very frustrating, lol... all well thanks, hope you are too? R 👍
Great video Richard . Enjoy watching! Wow good luck mate . You will be fine . What does your wife do for a living if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks Ben.
