Hey Tony I’m a young Mexican fighter and I want to learn the Mexican style of boxing maybe a video on the style or techniques that would be great (also I love your channel it puts things in a way easy for me to understand)
Hi Tony, I love and always watch your videos. Thanks alot! I have a question.. I box three times a week at a gym. I thought i was doing pretty good untill today.. I try to improve... There was this guy during sparring, who came at me very aggressive with hooks. And i got caught. I almost got knocked out. I don't seem to have an answer for it. For his hooks. The guy is shorter than me but stocky and very muscular. He has a high guard and my shots don't seem to bother him.. its like he is made out of stone haha.. I can only hit some shots on his gloves... i tried to blast him with straight punshes but he closes the distance real well, duckes underneath my punshes and hooked me all over the place. How can i counter that next time we spar ? Or what can i do... I feel a little frustrated. How can i block those hooks( having trouble blocking them) and maybe get some shots in myself ? Keep doing what your doing. I learn so much. Greetings Richard from the Netherlands
Yess I appreciate this bro my reactions were doodoo in sparring today it was my first one so it happens. All praises to the most High for using you to make this vid. Peace and blessings🙏🏿❤️
Hey I’ve been training by myself using your teachings and saved up money to go to a boxing gym but worried since I’m a noob and thanks for the videos 🎉
Don’t worry, they won’t make you fight the first day you go to the gym, and a lot of people that go to a boxing gym are noobs too. I recommend you look for a partner in the gym to practice and spar with, it will help you a lot.
Thanks. You’re one of reasons I’ve gotten so much better in a short period of time. Obviously very knowledgeable but the communication is on point. You can deliver the message in a way where someone very experienced and someone brand new will get what they need out of it. If you’re teaching anything, knowledge is useless if you can’t properly communicate it to someone. Great video.
Wow! I love this drills. Thank you for sharing this video. I learned how to box beacuse of different reaction drills that is why I believe this can help. May God bless you always.
Dude, thank you so much, my reactions SUUUUUCK, this is going to save my head in the next comp I go to. (I’m a female but I’m competing against men exclusively as a bit of a personal protest. I just want to do my best but I have to take every little advantage I can)
there is another similar reaction/hand eye coordination exercise i like to do: It`s where you stand infrot of wall,(the less flat surfice of wall the more difficult it`s gonna be) at the closer distance then your extended hand, you make a flawed paper ball out of regular notebook paper (this type of ball will bounce off at more random direction cuzz of being not symetrical and it`s very light weight will force you to be more accurate with your hands when you try to catch it cuzz it will bounces of of you hand very easily) yo thorw it with one hand and randomly either catch it with same hand or different hand you also keep throwing ball at random paces going from very slow to as fast as you can randomly as well... You also use periferal vision to track the ball not the direct one benefits: hand eye coordination reaction time makes your pace less predictible makes you less likely to get thrown of the belance whenever opponent changes their pace helps with developing periferal vision makes your eyes less betraying at whatever you gonna do next to the opponent.
In Russia we do these every training session, that's true😅 Tony, can i just improve a little bit your technic for the drill #2? When you drop the ball (from your lead hand) and going to catch it with another one, don't lift your lead hand before dropping ball, you need just to release your fingers and let the ball fall as it is. Thus, it would be harder to catch it with your rare hand, and you must be faster. This drill is also for improving your "one-two" hands should switch each other while performing it, in order to avoid doing two separate punches. This is for protection, you leave no space for your opponent to counter punch cuz your left is being switched with the right without a pause
A couple of guys in my school got two footballs, separated the leather part and with a little bit of duct tape and creativity they made a pair of boxing gloves, gonna test these reaction drills on them :)
( am 12) I’ve got really good reaction time, strength and speed and am only red belt ( first belt in kickboxing) and my teacher says am natural and I’ll be a unbeatable beast in the ring. I searched for this video for if I was doing anything wrong. Thank you
Jeez I wish I had seen this back in the 1980s when I was a younger man. We used to play hand tennis at school here in Australia... I suppose that helped with our hand eye coordination.
I have a question; When the ball is in motion. Do you keep your eyes on the ball? Or do you keep your eyes forward and rely on your peripheral vision like you would in an actual fight?
Funny... Most people, myself included before I knew better, will answer when you ask what's the most important thing in boxing? They'll say punches usually, maybe blocks... Unless a fighter, hardly anyone answers "foot work"!
I wish I was one of you students in real life I want to become the greatest of all time in boxing one day I work alone at home I’ve just been waiting to go to a boxing gym and get coached
Tony your my trainer, I have a question too, can you maybe do more on the peekaboo style? I’m trying to improve my stance, guard, and punches, I just don’t know how, your the man tony ❤️
I HAVE A GREAT DRILL FOR REACTION. use your boxing skills and try to catch flies in open space. Snatch the fly with a snap jab, or hook etc. Great for focus, footwork and accuracy training.

The last one that you showed with 2 variations

These drills are no joke. Great work Tony!
