They are finally doing it right with Bill Ward on drums!
@@canadianstudmuffin Bill can still play, I've seen him. It's Ozz that is the problem, he really can't. But I'd love to see this show. I did see Ozzy's FINAL TOUR in 1992 when Sabbath reunited for 4 songs!
I really hope they record the show for those of us who can’t go see it in Birmingham!!!
I'm very, very glad that Bill Ward will get to take a final bow in front of an audience that he never got to take during The End tour. If I'm being honest though, instead of being super excited when I heard this announcement, my first thought was "please let Ozzy get through this without embarrassing himself". I love the guy and his music, both with Sabbath and on his own, has been such a big part of my life I would never want his (surely) final performance to be a sad moment.
Ozzy is both the blessing and the curse of Sabbath for sure! Their first 6 albums are amazing, (and I even like a lot of Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die) but when people hear the word Ozzy now it's images of biting the heads off bats and a mumbling TV star. Some people say Ozzy was a useless member in Sabbath but he wrote the melody lines to the songs and his unique wailing voice was a vital part of their sound.
@@John-k6f9k "Some people"? I've never heard anybody in my 50 years as a metalhead ever even suggest that Ozzy was less than essential and integral to Black Sabbath.
Good on them with the charity donations. Gonna be great to have Bill with the band to say goodbye to the stage. Up the Villa!
This is NOT a cash grab! The money is going to charity. This is the perfect way to celebrate Sabbath. I would definitely buy the cd and or dvd!
Check if Sharon has registered herself as a charity! 😉
Yes please god let there be a stream of this!!! Been rocking to Sabbath all my life!!!
I saw them in their prime in ‘73 at Alexandra palace.
I was a 15 year old school boy. Happy memories!🇬🇧
@@MrMrh1958 I was there. terrible concert. Can you remember if Robin Trower opened?
It's wonderful it's in Brum and it's wonderful that Bill is back behind the kit. God bless them all.
The reality is, the various members are ALL running on limited time and it is fitting that they ALL get the chance to play and say "thank you" one last time. We should all be so lucky but then again, there is only ONE Black Sabbath. What an EPIC night this is going to be!!!
The first Metal album. That I ever listened to was Vol 4. It’s my favourite Metal album.
Ditto! I was 12 when I first heard that record. It was my dad's and it blew me away...
My 17 year old son ran down the stairs about an hour ago to tell me the news - he's a massive Black Sabbath fan (I've created a rock monster! 😂), and he is so excited. I'm busy trying to manage his expectations of actually being able to get tickets and the possibility that it still may not happen - we had tickets for Ozzy 2 or 3 years ago which was cancelled and my son was beyond devastated! We will definitely go if we are lucky enough to get tickets, but I can't see a live streaming event salving his dissapointment if not! I'm sure booking concert tickets wasn't this stressful when I was younger!!!
Really pleased that the final performance will include Bill Ward, a fitting ending!
Great news. Wonderful to see Bill playing with them one last time. They’ve all had health issues in recent years(especially Ozzy).
So one last night is a perfect way to send them off.🙏🙏
Come on Bill...... I'm a Ward too, so glad you are doing this.
My 17 year-old daughter sent me a text with the announcement of this show. We have been doing a year+ of metal shows before she takes off for college later this year. I’m really hoping to score tickets because this HUGE event would be a crowning show for our Year of Metal! I just booked a hotel room in case we get lucky and are able to purchase tickets! Excited for this festival, for all the guys in Sabbath and their fans!
Yes, with Bill Ward on Drums
Yes This is important. With Bill🤘
Proud day to be a Black Sabbath fan. Great insight Phil, I wish I could see this magnificent show in person, but I will stream it if that is an option, and will also purchase cd/vinyl/blu-ray. BS are ending this the right way, much respect!
Tickets will be like gold dust but I’ll give it a go! 😜
It's avery emotional moment , especialy for those like me (I'm 72) who all along their life admired at the highest level the music of Black Sabbath... back in 1970, in Bucharest(Romania) i was totaly confused after listened their first lp and I still remember the day I was lucky enough to purchase their "Paranoid" lp( New Zeeland "vertigo" pressing) as one of the luckiest days of my life...unforgettable forever !
Nice words Phil. At 66, this certainly is going to be special. I grew up listening to them and '75 was my first gig. Now for the very last one.
Great piece, thanks. I've not been able to sit still or sleep since I heard - too much adrenaline. I'm seventy, and like you, grew up with Sabbath, right from the beginning. I simply can't imagine the life I've had without them being in it at the core. The original line up for goodness sake! I'll be pitching in for a ticket like most everyone else on the planet and I don't much care what the cost will be. If I don't get one, I do hope it's streamed live, as at least I'd feel 'in the moment'. This is going to be the hottest ticket of the century, no doubt. I've been fortunate enough to see them with this line up and nothing - and I mean nothing - matches it, so I'd sell my soul (and body too if anyone wanted it) just to be there. A man can dream ......
Hi Phil, when i heard this news, i had tears in my eyes. I'm 68 years old and Black Sabbath was my youth, together with Deep Purple.
Black Sabbath in the original line up with Bill Ward...a dream comes true. Wow !!!
It's a dream for all the Sabbath fans on earth. 🤘
What an amazing way to say goodbye!
Beautifully presented by Phil. This is fast becoming one of my favourite podcasts.
Glad you enjoy it!
They had a lot to say
I’m a huge Sabbath fan, I have all their studio and live albums on vinyl and cd, box sets both vinyl and cd, DVD’s, bootlegs…..the only time I was finally able to see them, my wife and I had tickets for them in Halifax, NS in 2014….but then I got diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma, so my daughter and son-in-law got to see them instead, they said it was an amazing show….having said that I’m not sure what kind of show they can put on now with Ozzy and Bill’s health issues….but I wish them all the best….they’ve given us a lifetime of amazing music….
Bill is / was loved !!!!
Thanks again Phil for delivering the wonderful news in such a thoughtful manner. I hope that they do stream it and eventually offer some kind of physical media for all of us "youngsters!" Sabbath is a major component of the fabric of my existence since I was turned on to them in the early 70's, as you were. I hope it's a banger of a show!
So happy to know that money will be donated to charities. I would love to attend, but they’ll probably stream it somewhere.
The fact that these amazing chaps are still going strong and can do this is incredible. They have been a constant throughout my life. God bless them. Money isn't it, not at their age, it is just love for each other.
I'm very glad Bill Ward is involved. I myself am stateside and while I would like it to be streamed and would pay for said service, I would be perfectly happy to purchase a DVD of the final Black Sabbath show. When I was a teenager they were my absolute favorite band and although like yourself I have broadened my tastes in some ways, I can't deny how absolutely great the first 6 Sabbath albums still are to this day.
I first heard Vol 4 when I was 12 years old many years ago now. It was in my dad's old record collection and it blew my mind...the rest is history! I've loved them ever since but seen them live only twice
Hey man, absolutely right. I think it’s amazing. A real feat and collaboration between the metal community to honour everyone’s idols in their own back yard. I’m fortunate enough to be a season ticket holder so I hope to get a ticket. I was at the last one. This would be a perfect day for someone who visits that ground every other week and loves proper, heavy metal.
There must be a stream. Can't miss this.
I am so happy to hear this!!!! It really makes my heart smile. I would love to stream it!
It is just great, and incredible! So happy they found an agreement with Bill. I will certainly follow it if possible!
I hope Bill Ward gets closure here, he deserves it.
Amazing, would love to see them back together on stage for one last time, I first heard their debut album back in 1970 when I was 10 years old, it blew my tiny mind & I have never been the same again, for which I will be forever grateful. I saw the live in 1976 on the Technical Ecstasy tour at the Liverpool Empire, still one of the best gigs I have ever seen. Great to see that all the money will also be going to charity. Those four guys are my Gods
Great news. I've been a fan since the early '70s. It's one of the only bands I never get tired of hearing over and over. Having the band back together is going to be an ultimate experience. Yes I will stream it if available.
Good that the entire band will be together one last time. Sabbath was my 1st concert. I’m sure there will be a way to see it either live or after on video.
For Bill.
I hope and pray this happens as planned, and that the show is captured for Blue-Ray. Bill Ward absolutely deserves to share the spotlight with Iommi, Butler, and Ozzy. Equals. Partners. Brothers. Friends. Together they are the greatest.
This will be like the epic tribute to Freddy Mercury with different artists playing sabbath and Ozzy songs except Ozzy is still alive and will be in stage. Beautiful
Kind of like a new Live Aid 40 years later...
Thank you Phil , I dont have any problem with this especially now that Bill Ward will be there
Great video as always Phil. Excellent thoughts on what will surely be a memorable occasion at Villa Park !! Loving your podcasts, sincere, thoughtful and thought provoking, intelligent. Keep up the great work
Glad Bill said yes! Would not be the same without him! Lets just be grateful they are all still around to do it!😎
Wonderful news. It's actually incredible that all four original members are still around and able to do this.
Thanks Phil, very good news amongst the other bad news these days, I have been a fan since 1970 with the first album and hope Ozzy will make it for this special show, on stage we will see a different Ozzy, I am not worried ! and finally Bill Ward on board🥁 will enjoy every minute 🎸
I think this is a proper send off for this time-honored band. I would love for a concert film to be released. .
I think you're right, the other bands will all play Sabbath songs, and Ozzy and the boys will do a short set. Because realistically that's all they could do. God bless Ozzy.
Never felt right without Bill Ward on The End tour
If Bill is there so am i ❤️🙏
Great to hear that Jake E Lee will be involved with Ozzy ... His most recent band Red Dragon Cartel are great and their latest album Patina is superb !
I was blown away the most when I saw Jake e Lee. I thought there was bad blood. You know he's playing bark at the moon with ozzy too.
If it is all four original members Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill
that would be great.🎶🎶📻🎶🎶
I hope all goes well!! They deserve it.
you are so emotional you got tears in my eyes. my favourite band
Bill Ward is the master of my reality
Good to see so many great bands will be performing as a homage to the original Masters of Reality.
Kudos to whoever planned this last charity gig in homage to the Sabs. Only saw Sabbath once at The Golden Torch Tunstall 24th May 1970 after they had played a set at The Holywood Festival Madeley in the afternoon .Saw Ozzy at Port Vale Monsters of Rock 1981.
Have to smile when Bill Ward is involved. He was very generous towards us as kids, jamming with us on a few occasions in the late 70s .
I wonder if Budgie were still with us, would they have been invited?
Nice about bill,lovely bloke xx
Burke Shelley passed away 2 years ago, Budgie disbanded afterwards, this was his band afterall. I would love to see Budgie as well, but it's the same with Led Zeppelin or The Who - you can't replace the crucial members of the band.
I'm glad that Bill Ward comes back for this show.
Burke Shelley wasn't a fan of Black Sabbath.
I just heard Phil. You know my story about the band. My 1972 black and white photo is still on their official website in the "History" section. I don't have the connections I used to but have emails back and forth with Tony's manager who is interested to see all the documentation I have. I would guess their set will try to be an hour, but not much more. I have a trip planned with a friend in which I would love to meet you in the coming years. We fly from the states to London, then drive to Ozzy's old home in the mid 70s in which he wrote the address on an index card "Bull Rush Cottage Butt Lane Ranton, Stafford England then we continue to Wales and the Highlands flying back from Edinborough. Maybe we can meet before (or at!) Bull Rush Cottage. Cheers, Pat Renau
Absolutely bang on, I've known about this since last November, only four songs with the original band.
Dude, thank complimenting black sabbath, the fans and bands. And its for charity
I wish dio were alive to join ozzy onstage!!
Fun fact : It all started in Aston B6 !!! Big up Black Sabbath and Aston Villa !!! 💯🔥🎸🐈⬛
Alright, I'm a 38 year old man from Sweden. I have seen Black Sabbath before. In 2005 I saw the original band in Stockholm, Sweden and I'll carry that with me for the rest of my life. But THIS is something I will do my utmost to be able to be a part of. I grew up with not only Sabbath but with Pantera, Slayer, Metallica and so on. I am going to try and be there for this event.
Seen them loads of times, so gonna sit this one out. But definitely getting the dvd. Hopefully its a superb gig.🎸👌
I think it's amazing, I would love to watch a stream of the event.
And I hope all of the bands and musicians finish the gig playing together.
Like a big tribute to the best band in the world.
Cheers!
Nice that Zakk Wylde is there while he plays with Pantera. Wonder if he's playing with Ozzy too? Saw the original 4 in 1999 with Pantera. It was great. Would have loved to see them in the seventies but wasn't born until 1978.
Growing up in California in the '70s was amazing with Black Sabbath in my life. I would love to see them stream it live and a DVD later. Maybe in my dreams but there's hope as they filmed their last tour. If I could I would love to go to see this. It is not in my current budget.
I am a huge Original Black Sabbath fan since 1974, I started listening when I was 10. I’m glad that this concert will benefit so many people. I’m hoping that it will be Sabbath without backing tracks. I would rather hear any faults because it would be real. Backing tracks will blend the entire thing. Obviously this should have happened a decade and a half ago. I wish them the best of luck and everyone else involved.
I hope I’ll get the ticket. I’ve never seen them, but I love Their music.
It's very nice from them saying goodbye with Bill;and also bring a very honored guest: Jake E. Lee.
This wonderful news! All four back together one last time! My favourite band.
🤘🤘🤘🤘
I think it's great!!! I first saw them on TOTP and bought the single of Paranoid the next day. I bought the first four albums and loved them, but my tastes changed after that, as I got into jazzrock, and eventually jazz per-se! I have always admired them, and loved the playing of Tony, Geezer and Bill....and especially as both Tony and Bill being jazz fans themselves ( after all it was Django Reinhardt who inspired Tony after his accident in the factory). God bless them - they are legends!!!
The Sabbaths version of The Last Waltz
Thank you for this touching sabbath update. Although I am on US West Coast I am contemplating the possibility of at least looking into tickets and if I cannot get there, I will definitely stream and will purchase the Blu-ray CD package when that becomes available.
I hope someone finds a way to get you there. You should be on stage. like many of your fans
Because of you, Just since May 2024, I have purchased the following Black Sabbath super deluxe Vinyl box sets : Paranoid, volume four, sabotage, Technical ecstasy, live evil, anno domini, and hand of doom. I am very late to the Sabbath party, but you have brought me in and I cherish my Sabbath box sets and can listen to you talking about Sabbath all day long!
Sabbath fan from the start who for health and financial reasons cannot get to the gig, I would happily pay to stream the gig and would love to have a DVD of the whole night.
I would certainly pay good money to stream it. As you say, just to see the four of them perform together again would be enough for me.
I dreamt this would happen and it is happening ! B6 Forever !!! 💯🔥🎸🎶
It's massive , it's the biggest Rock day for years . Can't wait to see them together with Bill and all the guests will be brilliant. 20 odd years ago I had a VHS off Rudy Sarzo teaching bass , my mum used to love watching that and we used to watch Rock Family Trees .
Wow, Jake E Lee is going to be there👍 I'm curious if he might perform with Ozzy onstage. That would be an additional cool reunion to see at this show.
This is actually the most exciting part of the announcement for me....wow, can you imagine Jake and Ozzy performing together?
The Mighty Bill is back hittin' the skins.
Ain't life grand ?!!
At last the real Sabbath so glad bill is back in his rightful place where he belongs.✌️❤️
I'm very excited by this as I have never got to see Black Sabbath before, so I hope I will be able to afford this and go.
Hoping for a DVD/ Bluray release. Looking forward to seeing it.
Hi there, I am from Germany and I had the chance to see BS at „The End-Tour“ 2017 in my home town. I spent my salary for a Ticket to meet them, with early entry, be there with the Soundcheck and have a Foto Session with these guys.
I hope I can buy a Ticket for Birmingham… It‘s hard to finance it… but I try … for the best Band in the world 😈🤘🏻😍
@@Bonnie-rs9rh Good Luck with the tickets. I love Sabbath a lot. Saw them three times. First with Tony Martin, one show at the first reunion tour with Ozzy and finally with Dio as Heaven and Hell. All great shows, but I fear I don't have the money this time. So fingers crossed Bonnie 🤘😈🎸
I grew up heavily listening to early Black and then Dio was the ultimate after Ozzy "TYR" album was impressive. As much as I wanted to go to the final show of Sabbath I just could not go without having Bill Ward in it. I recall shaking Bill Wards hand add a CD signing event in Hollywood and seeing the rest of the band members signing autographs. I would pay every penny to see a pay-per-view of this event and I would also pay for a DVD as well. If they do a pay-per-view they would raise incredible amount of money because Ozzy and Sabbath are know world wide.
The word legend is tossed around too freely these days, but Black Sabbath are the real deal. They pioneered a whole genre of music, you can't get better than that. Anyone lucky enough to get tickets is going to see these living legends in the flesh. I just hope there's a live stream. This is going to be the concert of the year by a country mile.
A fitting end with Bill back in the band - I saw them on the 13 tour and they were superb ! My only regret is I’m on Cardiff at the Oasis gigs ! All for charity and more of a tribute concert- hope it’s televised or streamed ❤
I would love to see a roundabout of bands covering the entire Sabbath catalog. Sammy would occasionally cover a Zeppelin tune on his KBFH shows. This could turn into quite a monumental day. And Bill Ward, Jake E. Lee and others would make it better.
I’m definitely going… no matter the cost… I’ve seen Ozzy many times and sabbath once…. But I will definitely be there….
I hope it goes well!
Tickets on sale Friday the 14th of February - 55 years and a day since the release of the debut album on Friday the 13th 1970. Spooky!
Thanks Phil. Good vdeo, Yea I will want to see footage and DVD of the show, Be reminiscing when I saw Sabbath and the reunion in 99.
HALLELUJAH!!!!
This is going to be epic!...a great line up!🙂
I'll be on TH-cam, no worries.
Black Sabbath’s Greatest Hits on NEMS was my introduction when I was 12, and then I bought Heaven and Hell when it’s came out! So I grew up with Ozzy and Dio! I loved the Dio albums, but Sabbath will always be with Ozzy for me! The most important band since the Beatles imo!!! Seriously!
I'll pay to see it online, i have seen them once but without Bill and i have seen Geezer and Tony twice in Heaven & Hell. My first album was Sabbath Bloody Sabbath from 1973, i was 16, it changed my life. Greetings from Sweden
I’m so happy they’re going to do a _proper_ reunion. And other bands to help celebrate! This is no cash grab folks.
I'm with you on this one Phil - I hope it can be streamed for people like myself who are unable to travel or stand at a gig for any period of time. I pray that Ozzy can hold out on the day as it would be the ultimate ending to nearly 50 years of following this kind of music.
hope that bill will play his drums!!!
This news has made my day. Try getting a ticket. I don't want one as every Birmingham native should be there if possible. it should be broadcast so everyone could contribute to the good causes. I reckon the bands guesting will do Black Sabbath numbers that Sabbath won't cover. It's fantastic that Birmingham their hometown is hosting the event. Birmingham is a great city and I have no doubt it will be brilliant. A lot of great musicians have come from the Midlands.
