I started my Metal journey with AC/DC and Accept way back in 1980 at 11 years old. Now at 51 I'm a proud owner of eight of the 10 albums that these songs are on. The progression of Metal has always kept me tuned in to the new forms it has branched into. Where it goes from here no one knows, but I'll be there listening until I die.
I'm a complete square, family man, Christian and I actually like this and the metal community is populated by awesome people. We come from all walks of life. We just dig what we dig. I do, however, have a challenge for you, Mr. Corbin, if you ever come back here to this comment section...can you do a part II of even HARDER songs? That'd be great. It's good that channels like this are being put out by actual fans because you get to hear the real stuff. I've seen this video many times and I really do appreciate what you're doing.
I remember being 12 and searching "heaviest metal songs ever" on TH-cam when I was getting into metal and there was a video like this but it wasn't this, and I couldn't understand the sound, I only listenned pure noise. Now I'm almost 20, I'm a metalhead for almost 7 years now, and I explored the whole genre A LOT. Now I listen to this and I like it because I can understand it, I'm used to this and I have trained ears for this extreme stuff because of the years, but it's funny how when I was 13 all I could listen was noise. The most relatable personal comparation with this experience is MMA. When I didn't understand grappling it was very boring for me, but now that I practice BJJ and MMA, and I watch a lot of MMA, I can find it fun because I understand what's going on. It's like watching a professional chess match without knowing how to play chess, you obviously gonna get bored if you don't understand what's going on. And you won't like stuff like this if you listen it for the first time and are not used to extreme music, but once you understand it and your ears get used to it you start to enjoy it, because it's not noise anymore, now you recognise the patterns and it's a new language
This is a true observation. I recall listening to songs from when I was just beginning to get into metal. When I listen to the same songs I did back then now, 2 years later, it sounds entirely different. The difference is you actually recognise the riffs and the drum patterns and you're able to compute and make sense of it. Now you have an ear for those patterns compared to back then when you couldn't audibly differentiate apart which is why many people listening to it for the 1st time describe it sounding as "noise".
Wild how I saw this video so long ago as a kid and would ask myself why anyone would listen to this stuff. But now here I am years and years later realizing that I know all of the bands here
You don't listen to this type of music for the lyrics. I like to think of metal this heavy as instrumentals with the vocals just being another instrument.
Its so hard to find metal that melts your face off without the lyrics just devolving into a pig/frog hybrid being hate fucked while the drummer plays "how fast can the bass pedal go". I just want a distinct melody, rather than a wall of noise
Breaking Benjamin. They’re more butt rock or post grunge than metal but they’re pretty much exactly what you’re looking for. If you want more metal I’d start with either Ember or Phobia but for Post Grunge check out We Are Not Alone

I remember being 12 and searching "heaviest metal songs ever" on TH-cam when I was getting into metal and there was a video like this but it wasn't this, and I couldn't understand the sound, I only listenned pure noise. Now I'm almost 20, I'm a metalhead for almost 7 years now, and I explored the whole genre A LOT. Now I listen to this and I like it because I can understand it, I'm used to this and I have trained ears for this extreme stuff because of the years, but it's funny how when I was 13 all I could listen was noise. The most relatable personal comparation with this experience is MMA. When I didn't understand grappling it was very boring for me, but now that I practice BJJ and MMA, and I watch a lot of MMA, I can find it fun because I understand what's going on. It's like watching a professional chess match without knowing how to play chess, you obviously gonna get bored if you don't understand what's going on. And you won't like stuff like this if you listen it for the first time and are not used to extreme music, but once you understand it and your ears get used to it you start to enjoy it, because it's not noise anymore, now you recognise the patterns and it's a new language
This is a true observation. I recall listening to songs from when I was just beginning to get into metal. When I listen to the same songs I did back then now, 2 years later, it sounds entirely different. The difference is you actually recognise the riffs and the drum patterns and you're able to compute and make sense of it. Now you have an ear for those patterns compared to back then when you couldn't audibly differentiate apart which is why many people listening to it for the 1st time describe it sounding as "noise".
