Game of thrones was partly based on the War of the Roses which took place in the UK. They’re manned by one of the Household Division's five regiments of foot guards, all of whom are operational soldiers. The weapon they carry is the SA-80 L3, the standard infantry rifle of the British Army. In times of heightened security threats, these are loaded. The regiments of the household division and the household cavalry both bear the responsibility of guarding the sovereign and performing ceremonial duties, alongside their primary role as full-time serving soldiers. These regiments have toured both Afghanistan and Iraq. The same goes for those on horseback known as the household cavalry-the blues and royals and the lifeguards-all full time operational soldiers who’ve seen combat. The UK does not have ceremonial soldiers, every one of them is fully trained and operational. They do this alongside their full-time serving role. That’s why it irks us Brits when people disrespect them. They are not just for show. They can be in their ceremonial dress one day, and full combat gear on deployment overseas the next.

I'm an American, and that game _me_ goosebumps. Something special about watching one of the last few monarchs in the world proclaimed King. For many, it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Although, I must say, that when they zoom out, seeing everyone with their arms in the air holding their damned smartphone almost ruined the atmosphere in a manner speaking. Lastly, the one thing we Americans do better than the British when it comes to ceremonies is that we don't use our modern rifles, we use the M14 battle rifle. The L86A1 used by the British forces is a ridiculous-looking and god-awful weapon. All that aside, still an emotional ceremony to watch, even for us 'across the pond'.

He set forth without pity upon the beasts of the nine circles. Unbreakable, incorruptible, unyielding, the Doom Slayer sought to end the dominion of the dark realm. The age of his reckoning was uncounted. The scribes carved his name deep in the tablets of Hell across eons, and each battle etched terror in the hearts of the demons. They knew he would come, as he always had, as he always will, to feast on the blood of the wicked. For he alone could draw strength from his fallen foes, and ever his power grew, swift and unrelenting. None could stand before the horde but the Doom Slayer. He strode upon the plain and faced the Doom Slayer, and a mighty battle was fought on the desolate plains. The Titan fought with the fury of the countless that had fallen at the Doom Slayer's hand, but there fell the Titan, and in his defeat the shadow horde were routed. And in his terrible rancor between worlds and through time, the Hell Walker found the wretch who shall not be named, but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause. The wretch adorned the Doom Slayer in a mighty armor, wrought in the forges of Hell, impenetrable and unyielding. With sword and shield of adamantine strength, the Doom Slayer set to banishing all that were left unbroken by his savagery to the void. While countries such as the US have a politician as head of state with their own agenda and politics governing what they do, a constitutional monarchy such as the UK, doesn’t. So while political turbulence ensues between parties, the nation can be united by a head of state that does not have political motivations or alignment. They sit above Parliament and the House of Lords as a third eye, able to review legislative proposals and send them back for refinement. It also frees up the government so they can focus on governing the country, while the monarch conducts oversees visits and duties pertinent to a head of state. It’s about having a leader who can be admired by all, without politics, serving as a constant presence of calm, love, and happiness in an ever-changing world. The UK does not need a second amendment to protect itself from a rogue government, the monarchy prevents that. The UK’s armed forces swear allegiance to the monarch. The prime minister is given power to instruct them when appointed by the sovereign (now King Charles III), but, should the government go rogue, their loyalties and oath are to his majesty. It is a system that has worked for centuries. The last time a British monarch ever intervened and sent a proposed legislative bill back to parliament for review was over 150 years ago. And it’s not just the monarch who scrutinises legislation. Once it leaves the House of Commons, it is the House of Lords who review it, then finally the monarch. When you see leaders of the countries we view as pariah states pay their respects, send their condolences and later their congratulations to new Sovereign, speaking of their respect, affection and admiration, wishing prosperity and good health to the country, and expressing hopes for better political relations between governments, it goes to show why such a figure is needed in a politically motivated world. Politicians establish relations based on their own politics, a monarch/non-politically aligned head of state does so as a fellow human being. Building relationships on kindest, love and respect, the one thing that unifies us all. The first head of state to congratulate King Charles III is invaded Ukraine-yes, him. And he did so despite King Charles III having compared him to Germany’s leader in 1940 whilst Prince. That is the greatness of a monarchy, a non-political face for the country, a beacon of hope and unity; just a human, not a politician.

They’re manned by one of the Household Division's five regiments of foot guards, all of whom are operational soldiers. The weapon they carry is the SA-80 L3, the standard infantry rifle of the British Army. In times of heightened security threats, these are loaded. The regiments of the household division and the household cavalry both bear the responsibility of guarding the sovereign and performing ceremonial duties, alongside their primary role as full-time serving soldiers. These regiments have toured both Afghanistan and Iraq. The same goes for those on horseback known as the household cavalry-the blues and royals and the lifeguards-all full time operational soldiers who’ve seen combat. The UK does not have ceremonial soldiers, every one of them is fully trained and operational. They do this alongside their full-time serving role. That’s why it irks us Brits when people disrespect them. They are not just for show. They can be in their ceremonial dress one day, and full combat gear on deployment overseas the next.

I'm an American, and that game _me_ goosebumps. Something special about watching one of the last few monarchs in the world proclaimed King. For many, it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Although, I must say, that when they zoom out, seeing everyone with their arms in the air holding their damned smartphone almost ruined the atmosphere in a manner speaking. Lastly, the one thing we Americans do better than the British when it comes to ceremonies is that we don't use our modern rifles, we use the M14 battle rifle. The L86A1 used by the British forces is a ridiculous-looking and god-awful weapon. All that aside, still an emotional ceremony to watch, even for us 'across the pond'.

Yet as the mighty Titan fell and dread engulfed the armies of Doom, the demon priests of the Blood Temples laid a trap to capture this scourge of Hell. Insatiable, even by the vanquishing of the Great One, the Hell Walker sought prey in the tombs of the Blood Keep. And blinded by his fervor, the lure drew him in. The priests brought down the temple upon the Doom Slayer, and in his defeat entombed him in the cursed sarcophagus. The mark of the Doom Slayer was burned upon his crypt, a warning to all of Hell that the terror within must never be freed. There he lies still, and ever more, in silent suffering.
