Watching the first few minutes I saw an Alfa but had not noticed which side of the road you are riding on. The landscape including the lakes made me think I was looking at northern Italy or somewhere else in Europe. Very impressed that I'm looking at somewhere closer to home. Even when I heard your accent I thought "Kiwi on holidays in Europe". Your natural commentary of a great ride (involving two bikes) is so much more enjoyable than the bike bores who go for a half hour ride in the suburbs while giving a speech about their bike. Thanks!
Looks like a Puig windshield. This video actually inspired me to try the Stelvio when I happened to see it at my local dealer. And I bought it! Thank you guys. (I've clicked the like button way back, but now I had to reclick it as it had turned gray again)
Ah Vancouver, I love it there. One of my pipe dreams was to go back, get a bike and head up through BC as far as I can go, then maybe into Alaska. It's the kind of terrain we just don't have here
Whenever my wife and I go to the Guzzi rallies here in the USA... people offer other a go on their bikes all the time. Usually Guzzi people are little bit extra friendly, and strange. :) We have two in our garage...
I actually saw the new Stelvio models in Berlin on the BMT (Berliner Motorrad Tage - Berlin Motorbike Days) and I'd love to have a test ride with it. But it's freakin difficult to find a dealer around here who has one. Moto Guzzi is not that popular in Germany. But I love that V2 sound and really want to see if it's the right bike for me.
+nodlimax It's a shame that there aren't many around, it was a very nice bike to ride, lots of fun and totally different to the big BMWs. Pros and cons either way I suppose but definitely worth a look if you manage to find a local dealer :)
My last bike was a 1200 Stelvio (2012) - I reckon it would be - for the money- the best all round all road bike on the planet....great handling - comfortable. I have hung the helmet up recently, but would recommend one of these to anyone who loves distance riding....definitely not for the 'short of leg' though.
***** I totally understand where you're coming from, it was a very nice bike to ride and, from what I understand, reliable which puts it apart from a lot of Italians :) Sorry you've hung up the helmet, hope it's voluntary ...
OZ:......Whats the difference 'tween the Norge and Stelvio ?...Norge has better instruments [ that you can't see ] .......I'm in Canada...need something retarded comfy...I'm not getting any younger either......for looong distance. What would you get ?.....they both seem the same for 'offroad' ....... thx: CS
Hi Mate; The Norge is definitely more for 'on road' than the Stelvio. The Norge has a full fairing and therefore holds off bad weather better. I'd still go for the Stelvio as an all rounder though.
...Any bike is an Adventure Bike'......-the deciding factor is the fuel tank...it is huge on Stelvio......and we need it here.....btw...I'm 6-2, would the Stelvio fit ?... The reason I like M-G..- is leg protection from the cylindre heads.....
Ya know the beauty of this vid is, it is totally genuine, just a group out for a ride. you weren't out to do a review, you didn't even know you were gonna ride a Stelvio. But you gave your viewers an honest to god reaction to your experience-well done. Here's some of my favourite sound bytes. peeteey---"How are the brakes-good n good-Awesome---ooh JC--F***kin Hell--OMG" ad lib until fade. lol Mr B-- "Yeh -I love em------I really do----- the more you ride em the better they get". All priceless. PS did you remember to tell Mr B his bike was in gear?
Ha, thanks. Was that really a review? All I remember is me hanging on for dear life and swearing a lot! I guess I was just saying out loud just some of the madness that was buzzing around in my brain :) So you've bought one?
Very modest Peeteey, no it was a good vid Lovin the madness in your brain. I've not bought one yet still riding my VS 1400 Intruder 93model-so I like V Twins with some pull- unfortunately I'm 6'3" and really need something taller. the aim is for my Birthday-August, so saving to shave a few grand off the price ya know the sayin ( if ya can't F-kin afford it F-kin Finance it) seriously I'm havin one. Let ya know when. Ps your views at the moment are 32,307 the 2,307 are ME!!!!
The Moto Guzzi Stelvio is largely underestimated motorcycle. Why people spend so big money for GS/KTM when they can have a Stelvio and keep 3000 dollars in your pocket? It has more compact-size, it's robust (air cooled) and amazing stability at high speeds. Even in offroad is not so bad. Yeah it is heavy but it has awesome motricity and the weights are located down. Last versions have a softer clutch, traction-control and big 32 liter tank (!!!) p.s: the sound of the engine makes you smiling all over the trip like an idiot : )
Yep, I agree after my one short ride, and definitely agree with the smile the sound puts on your face. I was grinning like a banshee during this ride :D
@Freno, feeling so good at riding the Stelviona. The more kms the engine has, the smoother it runs. My NTX has 110.000 km now and it looks like working better than back when it had 50.000. Hyperpro fork sized 50mm diameter and hyperpro rear shock: nothing gives better feelings. @Peetey, your enthusiasm for this ride is amazing. Ciao from Italia.
not that was an awesome guy. Got to spread the love of guzzi man. they are oddly not well known in the USA but I swear once you had a chance to ride one you get hooked. I myself just bought a 2008 Breva 750 and am still on the hunt for a Griso 1200 8v.
Yea, I never understood the appeal of the Italian bikes as people I know that had them were always having to fix things, hence the slogan "Italian bikes: Making mechanics out of riders for years" BUT once you ride one, you really understand how people get so passionate about them :)
peeteey that's the crazy thing though the newer guzzi's are EXTREMELY reliable. every forum I have gone to and person I have met has told me how the new guzzi'a are almost nothing like the old as far as upkeep. They kept all the soul and charm of the old guzzi's but without the headache.
sublimekid247 I've got a 13 NTX I picked up brand new at the end of the year in 14. Got a screaming good deal on it, and man do I love it. Has tons of character, cost 10k less than the BMW GSA, haha...what's not to love? Only wish I had my dealer a hair closer.
G'day Mark, cheers for watching. I think the Stelvio is a 2010, pretty modern at any rate and very well looked after. Plenty of nice roads for riding around here, where would you be coming from?
It would of been funny if you got pulled over by the police and you tried to explain to them it is not your bike but you are borrowing it but you do not know the name of the guy. He should of laid low until they put the cuffs on you and then pull up. Great laugh.

Thanks for the video. I'm recovering from an operation and this has made my day.
Glad to help then :) "More Morphine sir?" "No thanks, more bike vids!"
What an awesome video, not only made me become interested in getting a MG again but also go out and ride more often! Cheers and thanks for sharing!
Welcome dude, thanks for watching. If I could afford it, I'd get one too! :D
@@peeteey Last weekend I bought a 2017 Stelvio (because they were on a crazy blowout sale)!
@@Turco949 Woa! Lucky you! I want videos! :)
What a nice guy to let you have a go of his beast ☺ top man 👍
Jason Fox I know! Lovely fella too. In my head I rationalise it by thinking he just wanted to have a go on my XT ... :)
I bought a 1100 Griso a couple of years ago. It’s an awesome ride
that thumper sounded like a helicopter off idle!! I love moto guzzi for how they feel and sound on the move
Ha ha, yep, sure does. That Guzzi was so fun to ride, I was giddy for the rest of the night, took me ages to come back down to earth :)
We are from Vancouver Canada and I am looking at a 2013 Stelvio that's why I was curious about the year.
Ah Vancouver, I love it there. One of my pipe dreams was to go back, get a bike and head up through BC as far as I can go, then maybe into Alaska. It's the kind of terrain we just don't have here
I jumped from a Tiger 955 to a Stelvio...... I love my Stelvio.
I can understand that, it was so much fun to ride!
Good ride and a beautiful place, a paradise for bikers!
Thanks and Yep, I have to remind myself of that from time to time :)
peeteey I'd like a ride there, but it is a bit far! Which bike do you have?
The one in the video is a Yamaha XT600e but I have a few others too. I'd have a whole garage full if I could!
peeteey Yamaha XT600, an indestructible bike, I saw that you also have a BMW, which is the model? a R75/5?
67claudius G'day Claudius, the BMW is an '85 R80RT that's been modified a little bit :)
Nice video. Love the landscape.
Thanks mate :)
beautiful NZ! this vid brings up so many memories :)

We have two in our garage...
Lucky you having two! I agree about them being kind and a bit different, makes them extra lovely right? ;)
What a great gesture
Yea, very trusting of a guy I'd only just met. We have friends in common so I guess that helped :)

Great vid Peetey, that was one of two vids that took my choice from the Versys to the Stelvio
Ha ha, thanks :) Hope you're loving it! I'll let the owner know if I see him again, I'm not riding at the moment.

450kid thats fantastic! I myself recently picked up a 2008 MG Breva 750. LOVE the bike but I am still on the hunt for a griso
buying me one in the next couple of months
Lucky! You're gonna have so much fun!
Great bike, largely underestimated.
I don't understand why people spend so much money buying GS/KTM...
Stephen McEwen I was looking at a red one friends said it was ugly I don't agree
Me neither, Donovan Fourie said-- "It aint pretty but it is Striking".
It does have a look you could love.
Thank you for sharing! My wife and I want to do a ride down your way one of these days. Do you know what year the Stelvio was?
G'day Mark, cheers for watching. I think the Stelvio is a 2010, pretty modern at any rate and very well looked after. Plenty of nice roads for riding around here, where would you be coming from?
Nice.
netkongen Cheers man!
Peeteey. Great fun watching this vid. Hooked on Guzz yet?
Oh hell yes, From my first ride on a friend's 1100 sport, then another's. When i win the lottery, I'll get a few of them I think :)
Try a California Vintage sometime. Great bike with stunning looks ;)
io ce l'ho ha un motore favoloso!!!
I'm very jealous! :)
It would of been funny if you got pulled over by the police and you tried to explain to them it is not your bike but you are borrowing it but you do not know the name of the guy. He should of laid low until they put the cuffs on you and then pull up. Great laugh.
Hilarious! :)
