I'm a med student from México. I just finished my first year and I have to say that I LOVE THE WAY YOU ORGANIZE YOUR TIME!... Seriously. I know that med school programs are quite different in each country, but we know that it doesn't matter where you study medicine, you have to be so responsable and dedicated at studying and the truth is that I'm pretty bad at getting organize my time. BTW... Your videos are helping me very much with that problem so I want to THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm sure I'll do well on my second year thanks to you. I wish you luck on every plan and goal you have :) ¡Saludos desde México! P.D.: I apologize if my english is a little bad hehehe. THANKS AGAIN! :D
Good luck! I just started studying as well =( My schedule is pretty similar to yours but I'm covering everything in 4 weeks with 2 weeks of review and some questions every day. Here's to hoping we both do great!
Yes to the study summary video! Wish u all the best for Step 1. Im in high school but want to eventually study medicine. Your hard work and dedication motivates me to do well. Right now studying for my final exams as well. I recently found your channel and have watched most of your videos...hope u continue posting after ur step exam. xx
Your vlog along with Jane and Jady's have been inspirational for me. I'm going to start one also for old students like myself (non-trads). I'm 35 and I'm on the same journey. Your information has been valuable. When I get it up and going I'm going to tell everyone about your channel.
Good luck! I am taking the dental boards part 1 this coming spring (so about 10 months). I'm scared too haha because at my school, we only have 3 weeks to study AND take the exam from the last day of spring finals. The dilemma here is if I take 3 weeks to study, I won't get a break and would have to start clinic early. And if I take it too early, I might not do well lol XD
I love how you've compiled the sketchy pictures along with the notes into a book. I have a microbiology exam in July and od its possible Id really like to save time . So of you still have the entire compilation in soft form then could you please send ke to me. All I'll have to do is print it out and get it spiral bind. Please say yes. I'll be very grateful.
Hey, I hope the studying is going well. One thing I would suggest is to do at least some questions at the end of everyday. Not only will it help you get completely confident in navigating the exam questions, but you also bring to light of a lot of valuable information in every question. Just a suggestion, good luck!
+tyler simons great suggestion! I have been doing questions in the form of anki or kaplan every night and uworld every morning... best way to learn! Thanks!
Hey, I'm an undergrad in the Brown 8 year medical program and want to say your videos helped a lot! I'm trying to do the same by helping others through advice videos too!
I#m doing my fitnesscoach education, my schedule is almost the same, but i will be done with the writing down end of june so then i "only" have to learn it and hopefully i will be done with the most of it in august :) good luck to you but we can do it for sure :)
The contents in Your videos are great role model to observe and work on. Please continue to post more. Also I wanted to ask your option on which physiology books/ resources should I be reading considering the fact that I'm a 2nd year undergrad student. Also, I wanted to learn abbreviations and signs on physiology terms that I can use I my notes and wish to know if there are online resources and book available on it.
Can you please make a video of your transition to Barnard and how it affected your medical school application> I am transferring as an incoming sophomore year and I'm concerned on how I will find research an establish my extracurriculars! Great video!!!
best of the luck in your exanm, wish you the best of the grades, love from Dominican Republic, I really wish we have the mandatory time to study for the steps. :( but thank you for your videos
I've been watching your channel for a while... love it but no idea how you find the time to vlog in med school. The compiled sketchy notebook is genius... Our next module is ID and I've already purchased my sketchy access but a notebook to refer to would be step gold lol! Would you be willing to share the sketchy notebook file, one med student to another? Would be happy to provide you with verification on my purchase. I know it's a weird ask and I'd normally take the idea and put in the work to make my own version but you know how short time is in med school. Feel free to disregard! Hope you had a great weekend off (and got all your laundry, grocery shopping etc taken care of 😜) Good luck this week in ob-gyn!
First, LOVE your videos and editing. Secondly, I'm in summer now of my sophomore year in college, and I'll be preparing for the MCAT which I'll take in the next year or two. Since this summer is going to be pretty slow, I'm wondering if you would recommend any subjects I should study early before med school? I've taken previous medical-related classes so I understand some basics like terminology and a little pathology, but I want to know more. Let me know, thanks!
+kakakaylee I think focusing on getting a great score on MCAT would probably be the best thing to do. If you haven't already, taking some biochem courses and psychology/sociology (now that they're included in the MCAT) would be helpful! Even in medical school, having a solid biochem foundation will be a huge help. Also, many students find the verbal section of the MCAT to be the hardest to improve on. I recommend working on your reading comprehension skills early on and it will definitely come in handy!
+TheStriveToFit thanks for responding so fast! I haven't taken any core subjects that will be on the MCAT yet, so I'm unsure how to study as of now. What do you recommend for improving my reading comprehension?
Which medical schools did you apply to in NYC and why? What was your top choice? And finally, most importantly, where did you get accepted and are you happy with your choice?
What is it like to take out such a massive student loan? Do you pay your rent in NYC with loans and live fully on loans? Have you been living off of loans since undergrad?
How do you manage to absorb everything? I'm thinking of wanting to become a med student in the future, but I don't how it will turn out. Love your video!
+Azra Sabiha I find Anki (app for flashcards) to be very helpful. You can make your own cards or download pre-made cards online (google search: "anki amino acids" or "anki ___" for whatever subject you may be learning). I think they tend to be utilized by more science/medicine oriented students so depending on what you need to memorize you might not find what you need online. But making them your own in itself is a good way to study. Once you've made the cards, set aside 15-30min a day and do them every day! you can check out my Useful Apps for Med School video (here: th-cam.com/video/S-e3uA-SdG0/w-d-xo.html) for an example of what it looks like. iPad app is paid but the desktop version should be free! Other memorization tips include just writing down what you need to memorize over and over or making up a mnemonic for them. Hope this is helpful!
I am not sure if you mentioned this, but do you do question everyday, or you pick a day to do questions?? When you do your questions do you do focussed or random??
hi jamie your video really inspired me... do you mind to share your resources of questions for step exam? books or application that can be useful for step exam? thank you jamie
Hi. I love your videos! They are very motivational. I have a question regarding your schedule, did it actually stay basically the same at the end? I have about the same amount of time to study for the exam and wanted to know if you were able to get through it all in that amount of days. Thanks!
Hi Jamie! I was wondering, is it worth purchasing the newest version of First Aid when it comes out in January? I've been told both not to purchase it since it is pretty much the same as the previous year and to purchase it to get a fresh, uncluttered look at the unannotated material. Thanks for any advice and thank you for your videos!
Hello l'm wondering how much time u spent on each block It takes me a lot of time to go through first aid and pathoma and uworld questions My exam is on September , and I'm so nervous Thank u
Hi Jamie! I recently just found your channel, and your videos always make me more motivated to work harder and be more organized. I just finished my undergrad junior year, and I have a couple questions for you. Do you know anyone in med school who was a psychology/social science or non-science major in undergrad? If so, how are they doing? (I'm a psych major.) Also, I am planning on taking a gap year after I graduate to get more clinical experience by being a medical scribe and to take time to study for the MCAT. Do you know anyone who has taken a gap year? What did they do in the gap year, and how are they doing in med school now? Thank you, and good luck on step! :)
+Josie Tsai just the videos, no book material. a lot of students in my class printed out the pictures to make their own sketchybooks. I didn't use the book at all last year during my microbiology course so the website is still super useful without the book-- I don't know how anyone memorized everything before sketchy! it's a lifesaver
would you mind sending the book notes i have the subscription but having the notes typed up like that is a great idea please that would be so great of you
Hi, I have a few questions, You mentioned your are using Goljean for path I wanna know how you used to review with that book. It is pretty detailed and very big book to do in short time frame. And how was your step 1 exam experience.

Is there a way you could share the microsketchy book?
Thanks
Where is Assad from?
Good luck. Do you know what online resources there are for physiology?
How do you manage to absorb everything? I'm thinking of wanting to become a med student in the future, but I don't how it will turn out. Love your video!
can you give some tricks and tips on how to memorise better?! I suck at this!! I did horrible on my anatomy professional exam 😭😭😭

is USMLE step 1 an annual exam or does it happen after every couple of months like the SAT?
It happens after your first two years of medical school , then you go on to take step 2 and step 3
