update: the cube's worse than i thought but it's still fun to turn but i can barely get the same times as on the v5
tldr: it feels nice and unique to turn, good performer, not amazing. locks up a decent bit. its a dolphin
Review: (Flagship Edition)
The Haitun Waverider is a decent cube, with a nice feeling to it. The closest thing that I can think of is a combination of Gan/Moyu with the Yuxin Huanglong (if anyone remembers that cube). It's super satisfying to turn, but solving leaves a bit to be desired.
The turning of the cube is very clacky when turning fast, smooth with a bump whenever the magnets come in alignment. The plastic feels on the thinner side, and feels harsh sometimes.
Setting up the cube can feel challenging, as especially out of the box it is fast and loose. Strangely, the cube feels blocky and unstable at the same time, as sometimes the pieces will start moving around without my control. I set up the cube using Weight 5, blue nats cubicle lube, and xmt10. This let the cube be a bit slower while retaining the glidey feeling it has. The core is on tension 6, compression 8.
Turning slower and more calmly gave me better times, while trying to turn faster gave many lockups due to the tight tensions to keep the cube stable, and the strange flexibility it has during some fingertricks. I found it difficult to be consistent with the cube, as I could get a low 7 average while counting an 8. When I switched back to my RS3 v5, I immediately got a 6.39 ao5 with a 5.32 single. I was averaging somewhere around 7.4-7.5 on this cube, while I average 7.1 on the v5.
While I want to main the cube as it is faster than my v5 at the moment, as well as the unique and fun feeling it has when turning, the inconsistent times make it difficult for me to use it over the v5 I think in the future. Haitun has does a good job making a unique cube that is not bad at all. Looking forward to the next cube they produce. The dolphin cube is definitely fun to solve on.

it does but thinner plastic, i had a 356s v2 that felt relatively similar but a lot heavier
+ i mentioned this in my description but it reminds me of my friends huanglong, its hard to describe this cube i feel like
