My college roommates and I would drink beers, do hash bong-loads and dance to New Wave in our kitchen all night. Life can be so wonderful if you let it...
Sixteen Candles! All these years i never knew who did this song and i knew who the Thompson Twins were since i grew up in the 80s and MTV . Just didn't know thus we their song. Thanks internet.
This song is on my top 50 all time songs list, which includes everything from Nirvana to John Coltrane, to Ready for the world, Curtis Mayfield, to Kiss, to Rush, to Jimi, to Depeche Mode etc... The Thompson Twins are one of the best Live bands ever. "IF YOU WERE HERE" is also a short song which is cool, but I have to play it 15 times in a row to get my fill.🥳
Almost brings a tear to your eye hearing this. Even just the instrumental takes you way back to the best years ever..... what happened to this world...
People have been expressing this type of thought for millennia. It’s even talked about in the Old Testament in Ecclesiastes and they recommend against this kind of rose colored nostalgia. The 80s was a horrible time for a lot of people just like every decade but when you’re young and carefree you don’t notice.
I really wish people would look past hair and fashion for this music and who comment on music from this era. It’s good pop. Tom knows how to write it along with a lot of other styles of music. The other two complimented him well with it too. And the sounds of the music they did do promotes a feeling that can move your spirits. At least for mine it does and has done. Hopefully you can relate. Growing up being very ill myself it brings a sense of comfort and emotion. It heavily influenced music I create today. It has a melody unlike so much music today and in the past. Thank you to Tom, Alannah and Joe. You may not have liked what you did do to an big extent, but it reached a lot of people in different ways I hope that one day you can understand this. I know Tom does at least now.
I liked them in the 80's but many years later in an interview the female member said some ..umm.. not nice things about another member of the group.. made me not like *her*
She also had a Mohawk hairstyle. When asked about the reason for the Mohawk and big hats her reply was that it was to draw men's attention from her breast as she was buxom.
Still a thrilling song over 40 years later. Only sorry i missed this gig in my home town

Life isn't like that anymore. You people are obsessed with your phones.

Love the 80's
A gig where the audience doesn’t treat it like karaoke and instead listen to the artist they paid to see and hear. I miss those days.
TH-cam is literally a time machine that takes us to the 80's
Man I miss the 80s and Synth Rock

I saw them and they literally ran out of songs to play so they played them again!!
I liked them in the 80's but many years later in an interview the female member said some ..umm.. not nice things about another member of the group.. made me not like *her*
Tom Bailey > Jake Ryan. 100%
Iimiimi
sound is terrible
So the chick in the hat did what....wore a big hat???
Way to contribute!!!!!!!!
She also had a Mohawk hairstyle.
When asked about the reason for the Mohawk and big hats her reply was that it was to draw men's attention from her breast as she was buxom.
She wrote the words...is that contribution enough?
You obviously didn't go to any of their concerts.... Plus she was the lyricist.
@@sandclann Oh, a Brian Wilson kind of role. Ok...didn't know. The hat is ridiculous...even for the 80's. l like 1/2 TT songs. She's no Bob Dylan.
