The statement from Mr. Hiroshi Moritake, project leader for Suzuki's new TL1000R, left no doubt as to his company's intentions concerning their latest V-twin sportbike: "The concept behind the TL1000R is simple: Build a V-twin with the potential to win Superbike races."
But that never happened (except for the Bimota SB8 with this engine). He never became a WSBK winner, but is therefore a great choice for club racing in the Youngtimer class. The Suzuki TL1000R in this video is a fantastic example of how to turn an ugly duckling into a swan. Attention to detail is perfect.
And what about engine and all the beautiful details you may ask.
OK ... here is what I know about this yellow swan: engine is done by Sam Matthewman, British TL engine specialist ... JE pistons for healthy 1080 cc of "useful volume", original conrods and camshafts, alternator is removed, open airbox ... yes, engine is made with durability in first place.
The ECU is from Ignitech with a special mapping from MCE-Performance, power is about 150 HP on the clutch. Fine tuning is in process. Weight ... exactly 172 kg without gasoline. Those with a sharper eye will notice forged Aprilia RSVR wheels, but only a few great connoisseurs will recognize that this magnificent titanium exhaust is made by company Ladybird from Japan. The seat is made by Yannis from Greece. Yes, this is one very international Suzuki. Antihopping clutch will be installed for next season.

thats a gorgeous TL. I got an 03 with tre, airbox mod, d & d exhaust that i am really not fond of, and a bunch of other things done. I love it. been my dream bike since 03 and ill never get rid of it.

Die Alstare-Corona Kombi - geil. Der Klang, die Perfektion (Radaufnahme, Schwinge...), herrlich! Btw., hat nen ziemlich hohes Standgas.
Die Leerlaufdrehzahl wird auf Rennstrecken gern erhöht um Hinterradstempeln beim Runterschalten entgegenzuwirken (aus Zeiten vor den Anti-Hopping Kupplungen). Normalerweise hat die TL einen Leerlauf von 1200-1300 U/min, dann scheppert es auch nicht so wenn man aus dem Leerlauf den 1.Gang einlegt.

Looks fantastic, the front forks setup with the wheels is great. May I ask why the exhaust cans are so long? Is there some benefit to it?

Nice👌does the more slimmer exhausts give better sound? I know the shorter cans do. I've a TLR with ART cans but I don't think they sound quite as menacing as this. It's hard to tell though as my speakers are from a phone.

Im sad to say I had never heard of these bikes until recently...i found one for sale and wondered "what is a TL1000R???"....started researching and have kinda fallen in love with them. Do you have any info on the rear shock upgrade(since that seems to be a weak point) and the front forks?
I do not have detailed info about (mandatory) suspension upgrades, but there is bunch of Suzuki forums on the Internet where you can get all the info you need.

Recently purchased a mint ‘99 TL-R with Yoshi’s… I also have an Aprilia RSV Factory with carbon Akrapovic’s, and the TL sounds quite a bit better 😎

I just pulled my TL race bike out of retirement and it hasn't been started in 20 years. I don't know what the hell I'm thinking I'm not 27 anymore I'm 57 LOL. I'm going to try and get it going to do some track days but man is parts hard to find

Those look like Mille Factory R forks?... and no steering damper...
Steering damper is probably under the bottom yoke. Forks are from RSVR ... wheels too.

Hi ... as far as I know, front fork is Ohlins from 2001/2002 Aprilia RSVR. Wheels also ... OZ from RSVR.
