Father Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)

First son Gentaro, male (2011/12/21)

He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son Kintaro ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.

So cute to see greedy Genki is eating much foods deliciously anytime and its the proof of her good health. On the other side, I'm impressed she doesn't neglect her duty of nurses for Kintaro. I suppose both acts must be necessary for serious mother, Genki ✨✨🌼
She does impress as a mom! Have you noticed lately that the Gentaro enters the enclosure before Genki? Do you think this is that natural order of things as Gentaro gets older?

Excellent video G Life. Thank you taking out the time to put English captions in your video's. Many of your viewers are English speaking, so now we wont miss out. Wow, Kyoto and Tokyo have been hitting 100 degrees F this past week or so. Does it normally get this hot every summer? Hmmm. I feel for the gorilla's. I bet the enclosure blocks whatever breeze there may be. Just work at a comfortable pace with doing video's. It doesnt matter how many you post per week. We'll still be here.

Year by year the weather in Kyoto is becoming wierd because of the climate change. In my childhood, the temperature wasn't so high. Nobody took heat stroke in Kyoto.

Kentaro thinks he is a macaque baby. LOL! Poor Genki is going to end up with back problems if she's not careful. The little one had better hope Genki doesn't behave like a macaque mother when it comes time to wean. Gentaro seems to be developing nicely. Good for him! Momo, well, Momo is just as magnificent as ever.

@@RuthPreach Hi, and thank you! The last few months have been rather difficult. My daughter has been very ill (severe anemia) and we have had no luck with anything they've tried so far. I haven't had much chance to pop in and see how things are going with our gorilla family, but I decided I need to try to relax a bit. I will try to come by more often. (Getting worn out won't help anything.) How are you? I hope you are doing wonderfully well!
@@jossetteking4967 So sorry to hear about your daughter. I too have had a few bad experiences with family members suffering from severe anemia. Happily they survived once they were diagnosed and received a blood transfusion. It's really is difficult caring for loved ones when ill. You tend to put your own personal needs aside (sleep, nutrition, rest, etc.) when caring for them. That could be very dangerous. I'm glad you are forcing yourself to take a mental break now and again. I'll pray for God's healing powers to restore your daughters health, and provide you with strength to endure the recovery process. Taking care of yourself is key in this journey. Take care.

I've read where Momo turned into a silverback when he was just 10 yrs old?? Is that correct? I thought male gorillas stayed blackbacks for a while? And do they automatically become breeding age when they become a silverback, no matter what age they are??
His dad, Biju, matured early and was also a silverback at the age of 10. As you know, Biju died before Momotaro was born. I've read two differing opinions about Momotaro's early maturation - he grew up without male companionship, or it is simply genetics.

@@cherylross5322 In 1987 Biju was born into a stable family with siblings. He was around his dad, Bitam, until he transferred to Ueno Zoo in 1997. Both his parents came from Africa. A point of interest: Bitam had 22 offspring with 6 females. It is my understanding that Momotaro lived with his mom, Momoko, at Ueno Zoo until they were move to Chiba City Zoo. At some point while at Chiba City, he had contact with Monta though a fence as their enclosures were connected. But other than that, Momotaro had no contact with a male gorilla.
@@Charlotte-r So it seems likely that maturing early is a male-line family trait, as environment doesn't seem to figure into it.

Do do get ice treats and also the misters are on. And they come inside more often. Their keepers definitely ❤ them and watch out for them. But they need the stimulation of the outside environment at least for a while every day.
