Great Advice!!! I completely agree with you regarding both the 2nd and 3rd pieces of advice. I would definitely advise to always show up to class/critiques even if you have nothing to show or even barely anything. Just as long as you honestly tried you best to produce something to get feedback on. In addition to trying hard, you never know what might be the outcome of all your effort(s), my Professor's were able to offer me a job to work in an office because of all my hard work. I didn't have the grades to show, but my effort(s) and what I had learned is what helped them make their decision. Even though I no longer work for them I am and always would be thankful for the opportunity they gave me. Most importantly, I was able to see how far hard work can take a person, even if the grades do not reflect it.

That's so awesome to hear Sal! I completely agree. If you show you're a hard worker, you're going to be creating opportunities for yourself! Well done and thank you for your inspiring comment :)

You helped me a lot when I was in a bad mood to show up to my teachers, I’m from Belgium and it’s pretty difficult to be inventive in this this corona’s time !
But I think yours videos can help many of students like mine who are embarrassed from their work, it’s complicated for us to be creative and it’s normal I think !
So after all I gonna continue my plans I have to show up then in 3 days and I’m starting everything from the beginning..
Good luck to every architecture student, it’s a bad time and everything gonna be okay

Actually it's quite exhausting.I mean really it's only been two classes up till now and already we have created 50 front profiles of our self and created 10 design composition and that too within a really Short time like 3hrs for submission of work. But actually I enjoyed the part that finally I'm at a place where I see people similar to me with same dreams and inspirations along with that the fact that I can study something I really enjoy ,its just amazing

This was so useful thank you so much ❤️
My advice is , do never try to make a perfect project , and do never try to make a pure originality .. because you can't develop your skills since ure just wasting time in looking for perfection , you're still a student and you're learning, so it's okey if you copy some details but of course in your way to make it different .. you can't make a project all alone since you're just a 1st year student, learn from other's projects, always check them and try to analysis what and how and why they did this and not this , in this way not in the other way ...etc and don't worry you can be unique with your own touch , you don't have to discover or invent something, just learn from other's works and try to follow their steps ❤️✌️
I said this becaus in my first project i was just looking for originality and perfection, i had no time and i was wasting it in inventing something totally new which doesn't even exist ... So i failed .. in my second project , i worked on my skills, my goal was to improve my Architecture knowledge and skills, i started looking to other's projects , in websites .. in Pinterest .. TH-cam .. then i tried to follow every step I've learned from my research in the internet , so step by step i improved my skills, and guess what ! I got the most original project ! And didn't waste time, and got a good mark .. so just FOCUS ON THE LESSONS YOU GET , it doesn't matter the originality because your project won't be built lol , it should only have a great logic and nice artistic touch ❤️✌️

Great advice and agree with them all.
And my advice is PLEASE stop copying everything from the internet!!!! i have seen many projects which got Hds but are worth nothing because there is no thought behind it.
Also READ READ READ SOME BOOKS, expand your knowledge so you wont go blank when someone refers you to a famous building which you have no idea about its existence.
    Its embarrassing.
Also what is happening in the architecture schools these days is??! its all about graphic design.
Sometimes i feel like design concept doesn’t even matter. because all you see is good renders and graphics which ended up with Hds and Ds. And all the tutors talk about is “render render render and off course GRAPHIC”.
What I learnt from reading and research is architecture is a form of psychology. Basically we are the ones who form how human should interact with one another and their relationship with the surroundings, as much as we think about community connection, we improve humans psychology and therefore shape a better and healthier society.
Get rid of the separation walls between neighbours, make it more green stop putting fake plants, instead offer the ones which are alive but dont need to be taken care of everyday. Australia is a great country which has many many plants and require almost 0 care.

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Man, this is such great advice. I was interviewing an architect who was one of the principals of Hassell in Adelaide before they closed the firm, he mentioned exactly what you're saying here. Architecture is psychology. If you can understand the way people move, live and use space, you'll be able to design effective architecture. You're not just "guessing".
I love this advice. Thank you so much for sharing Sara!

Don't design things you don't like, simple as that! Good architecture comes from passion. I've found there's always a way to twist the brief and turn it into something you enjoy designing. Have a chat with your tutors about it
