just every song in this version was more jazzy than the modern day rtc, which i love seeing the development and how each song branched into a different genre
the way her voice picks up and gets more powerful is just amazing to hear 💕 this is one of the most underrated songs in the show, and oh my GOD the addition of the kazoos was fantastic lol
Thanks to some images I found somewhere, this song was in the 2009 version. You had the same actor standing on the box, wearing a blue skirt and had the mic, same hairstyle except it was a lighter brown and no glasses, two boys who played the kazoo's played trombones, and for some reason there was somebody in a bear costume. Edit: it was one of the boys and Ocean who played the trombones.
I believe Sugar Cloud is the song that survived the most, both lyric wise and creation wise throughout the run of Ride The Cyclone! Ever since it got on the American run, changes have been very sparse...but the Canadian runs (2007 through 2013) featured many different changes and cut characters!
Corey Ross was the guy in the bear costume! And also it was not Ocean who played the trombone. It was Hank, Astrid’s boyfriend and Astrid Rosenberg, Ocean’s cousin.
@@kellyhudson8165 no way it’s u!!! I love ur performance as constance! 🫶 do u think there is any way u could share that video with us? I love this version so much :)
This is my favourite cast of this show since I saw them live when it came to the Citadel. It brings back so many amazing memories and this was always my favourite song aside from The Ballad of Jane Doe, so thank you for posting this so I can remember those old times Edit: I definitely need to make an addendum to this. I wrote this comment before I really got a chance to see the newer version of this song and the play on TH-cam, which omg I’m so happy this shows fandom is coming a bit more alive, and Lillian Castillo’s vocals are immaculate and a fair bit cleaner. This version definitely has more of the sentimental value cause I think I was in this audience for this show. The rougher vibes with this work for a scrappy rock number but I got a far better take on all the performances now
@@moogreyson yeah I was only in middle school so finding fans or content for this show back then was impossible. The resurgence right now is incredible and I’m glad more people get to know it. It was definitely still finding its footing back then with the song choices but I’d remember just think I hallucinated Space Age Bachelor Man and I’d try to sing all I could remember of the Ballad of Jane Doe since I couldn’t look it up. Them changing Constance’s song was a master stroke as it was the song I remembered least and now it’s such an ear worm tho I wish the original opening stayed tho the current version is solid. It’s just nice to have more people to talk to about the show!
She did a great job! I’m glad to find the full version of her singing Sugar Cloud! I hope I find the full versions of the rest of the songs performed in this theater!
Not a bootleg - special performance for a local TV station in Edmonton featuring 2:songs and short interview with Elliott Loran & Kholby Wardell. Otherwise, individual venues were allowed to make an archival recording, generally single camera from back of house, more importantly WITHOUT the audio feed from the board. Tragic missed opportunities.
@Zakariix wait, really? This is really interesting! & yeah, it kinda explains how Kelly's able to do that high note during the parts where she sings "Just jawbreaker" & "Blue"
yeah i was caught off guard at first but i think it’s a really interesting character choice, the actress clearly has the chops to pull it off and more!!
is it not purposeful though? she starts off 'weak' and comes into the role more, Lillian has a really similar approach, making herself sound small and eventually reaching stronger and more confident notes. it just seems like a character choice at that point.
@@SadddestCarrot this one has more rough vocals than I would expect for this song, for starters. For a scrappy rock song, rough vocals might work. Not so much this song. Also, esp in the beginning, she was really difficult to hear and understand.

2:42 THE WAY "CLOUD" IS SAID IS JUST AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 😍😍😍😍😍😍
It gives off more of a country vibe in this key and I'm kinda living for it
the slightly "rougher" vibe makes it hit better, it conveys the feeling of the song really well
There ARE NOT ENOUGH videos OR animatics of Sugar Cloud! And its really one of the show's best songs

@@saulandersen8767 ok either way, where can I find it?
It looks like at 0:40 she scared herself because of how Loud she got so suddenly
I like to think of this as Constance being surprised by herself, because Ocean never really let her sing out in the choir. But that's just my theory.
I LOVE THIS INTERPRETATION
The DEFINITIVE interpretation by the person who helped create and originated the role. Best voice in the choir and an amazing actor.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any. Archival recordings from the individual venues but good luck getting your hands on one of those...
