@@RobArnoldWorld Dude! I’m loving your ‘metal guitar ‘ video. I’ve been playing for awhile but there’s still soooo much for me to learn from you. 👍 I really appreciate it. Keep rockin!
Really good there Rob. I'd go with the first amp tone that you went to and add a little something with a bit more heavier tone for me. Maybe that old classic thrash tone or something like that. And I could see from what you've said before about how the mic needs to be in the right place. All in all a very got amp sim and another great video Rob. Thank you.
These sound awesome! I use the Ignite Emissary plug-in which is free but still sounds really good. You can put your own impulse responses on it too. I also use an overdrive and noise gate plug-in
subbed and great tones dude. i was like "is this the rob arnold from chimaria?" for some reason i didnt recognize you and i was like "it is!" lol. "Power trip" is still my go to jam to this day. cheers
@@RobArnoldWorld Definitely. I bought it late yesterday evening and man is it addicting because its like the tones are ready to go with no tweaks or anything. I was afraid to move or adjust anything.
Great vid i bought the pack! FYI for the wah u can get a midi wah pedal that will work so u can control it or 👉 I actually bought the boss FC300 to be able to switch tones and use the volume and wah pedals with my feet! There's other options as well
I'm definitely keen to give stl tone hub a go after these videos. Been trying to get the chimaira sound sound for ages on various other plugins but seem to struggle.🤘
Rob so love the video but have a recording question. I try to use a VU meter to try to keep things around -18dbfs. Do I place it before or after for gain staging?
Hmm... I'm not really sure what the best way is to answer that man, without seeing your signal chain myself. You should try and judge your levels by your channel faders, the input and output levels of your plugins, and your bus levels. Then use something like a VU on your master bus. To me, gain staging is watching your levels and keeping them from clipping every step of the way. So that means not clipping your channel faders on your input, then not clipping your plugins from one insert to the next, then not clipping your sends to the bus, then not clipping the bus itself. Then your buses feed your master bus, which you obviously don't want to overload either. So it's important that every "stage" of your signal, is "gained" or at the appropriate level, from input to output. Good luck!
@@ST-fl5fy Because it gives me a reading of the overall level of my session. Since everything within my session is feeding into my master bus, this is where an output reading is most important.
Could you do a video on guitar strings what you used with chimaira what you used with six feet under what gauge strings and brands for tunings i think you used to play in drop B and even drop A and have been curious what you used 11-56 drop C maybe?
I'll just tell you right here! Chimaira: Drop A (7 string) 11-52 with an added .60 for the 7th sting Drop B 11-52 Drop C 11-52 SFU: C standard 11-52 Always with a wound G string! From 2001- 2016 I used Dean Markley Blue Steels. From 2017- present I use DR High Beams 🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld thanks so much! I wondered what setup you used with strings amazing how you can make drop C sound so heavy to, some of the riffs from chimaira were so crushing like born in blood....the breakdown is so fucking good
These sound amazing!! I use AmpliTube 4 and I have so many issues with the noise gate not cutting off sounds properly and also adding a 0.5 second delayed “echo” when I cut a note off. Listening to you play the sound cut off is instant as soon as you mute the note. I think it may also have something to do with my budget hardware. I’m using an iRig HD2 interface and a Lenovo tablet. Maybe I need to get a proper interface and a MacBook Pro.
Couldn't hurt to level up your gear a bit! The first step is actually KNOWING that you may need to level up, which is the point you've reached. I suggest doing some research and diving in!
Amplitube 5 has a really good Dimebag sound gate. I have the Mesa Boogie pack too, and I really like it...but I'm definitely interested in this Tonecrate pack after hearing Rob mess with it.
@@itssteveufool It's actually a ToneHub pack. Tonecrate is a pack I have specifically for Kemper amps. The Tonehub is something anyone can use on any computer. 🎸

You can then of course tweak things however you like. Oh, and you of course get all the STL effects as well. So if you want a bunch of amps to play around with, go with Amphub. @@RobArnoldWorld Thanks Rob, that's super useful information. I'm more of a 'plug in and go' guy, so think i'll give Tonehub a whirl in that case. Love 'Magnitude' by the way! 🤟

Yes I am... but depending on how I'm recording, I have to be conscious of what my dialog microphone is picking up while making these videos. So sometimes I opt for headphones. But if I''m just jamming and writing and stuff, I'm definitely just ripping through my monitors. Always at a comfortable level. Not too loud, not too soft. @@RobArnoldWorld good to know, thanks. Do they get pretty loud if you really want to crank it? Never used them so I'm not sure if their even in the ballpark of a 1x12 or 2x12(!)...?
@@BubbaZanetti_375 Well, that's not really the way you want to think about it. Studio monitors have a different purpose than a guitar amplifier. Think of studio monitors as like a nice big stereo system we all had in our houses in the 80's and 90's. Music sounded great on them. But if you tried to play a guitar through the stereo, like with a distortion pedal or something, the results would not be desirable.
