  • Douglas Headwater Campground, Campground Review, Sevierville, Tennessee - A TVA Campground
We have wanted to stay at this campground for a couple years and we finally got the chance! We loved our site overlooking the Douglas Lake. There are sites much closer to the water, but many sites do have water views. Douglas Headwater Campground is located about 20 minutes from Sevierville, Tennessee. It is about 45 minutes from Gatlinburg or Smoky Mountain National Park making it a great base camp for exploring the area.
What we love about Douglas Headwater Campground:
    1. Several waterfront sites, many waterview sites
    2. Most sites have plenty of room
    3. Lake and swim beach
    4. Not far from other things to do in Sevierville, Gatlinburg, and the Smoky Mountains
    5. Reasonably priced
    6. Ice cream!
    7. Verizon works great
    8. Trail
    9. Nice roads for biking
What we didn't love about Douglas Headwater Campground:
    1. Some sites are a little unlevel
Beautiful campground! We are off to our next campground...
    Happy travels!

We certainly enjoyed our stay and will stay again when in the area. We do want to check out Douglas Tailwaters Campground. Have you been there?

Hey guys, we enjoyed the video! We are staying there next week and this will be our first time to camp there. We wanted to stay out away from the town area and glad to know it’s quiet at the campground. Safe travels!

I just planned a trip in September 2024 to stay there because of your great video. We just bought a camper last year and thought we would try this campground out. We usual stay in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, but it is so crowded, so decided to go out a piece. I know it will still be a drive to go into town.

Awesome! It is a beautiful drive to get there, too. Enjoy your stay. 😊👋

Almost the same routes again 😂 we were at the base of the dam at the Tailwater campground 2 weeks ago. Went to GSMNP Smokemont campground from there. We prefered the NC side of the park much more than the Sevierville-Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg crowds. The TVA parks are a great basecamp for GSMNP on the TN side. Even give a discount with the NPS Senior Lifetime pass. Hope you got into the park. Wednesdays Cades Cove loop is closed to vehicles and we rode our bikes (tip; be there by 8:00 am to park). It was great and we got to see some black bears. Also, the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is very nice. Lots of great hikes to waterfalls. Wanted to do the cool looking stuff at Anakeesta but it was just too crowded for us. Looking forward to where you are headed next.

That's crazy! Hopefully, we'll end up at the same place at the same time one of these days. Yes, the NC side of GSMNP is the best! We have family on the Tennessee side, so there's no getting around spending our time there. Anakeesta can be Disney World crazy. LOL😊 Thanks for sharing the info in your comment. We didn't get to do any tourist stuff while in the area. It was a busy, but good time with family. Happy travels! 😊👋
