    I have the iceman3 clear. I get a lot of re-leaf from it. I put 4 water bottles in instead of crushed ice. I found it lasted longer and cheaper. I kept an extra 4 bottles in the freezer so I always have ice.

      @@irene7175 Good luck with your ankle. After you have the surgery you will only have healing pain, and it will get better. The pain that you have now is 24/7 isn't it. 😥. Stay positive.

    insurance does not cover it as its considered a convince item

      Have your Dr. write a letter stating it is necessary to speed up the healing. All insurances want you to heal quickly so you can get back on your feet. Good luck.

    Recovering from my 1st knee replacement surgery, 1 left to go. I went home with the Donjoy Iceman Clear 3 that they used on me after my surgery 2 weeks ago.The 16.9 oz bottles work well.The machine does what it does well, reduce your swelling. I was told about the frozen bottle process at Pre-Op. You place 4 bottles in which you have frozen water into the tub ( plastic container) of the machine. You must add water to the fill line indicated on the apparatus on the inside of the tub. Yes you can use it without putting additional ice in the tub. However, if you know the water is sucked up into the machine and it goes through the hose. The hose water circulates through the pad which is affixed to your swollen knee. Do you want your initial water to be cool or cold, and wait for it to get ice cold. Also if your water is room temperature the ice will use more energy to cool it. So when I put my frozen bottles in I put some ice cubes (not a lot) in next, then I put the water to the fill line. The larger mass of water in the bottles does not melt as fast as ice cubes (small particles). Your refrigerator can not keep up with the ice you would need in a day's use.Going to the store to get bags of ice is not reasonable, if you had surgery you are not supposed to driving on this medication, or how easy is it to keep sending someone to the store? Everyone has access to empty water or soda bottle (16.9 oz.), to put water in them and freeze them. I would have 2 sets of 4 bottles frozen. If you use them into the night and maybe your last act of the night is to use it one last time before you go to bed. If it's one of those nights that you don't feel like taking the machine to the kitchen and unloading everything and putting the bottles in the freezer. You can just disconnect, and put it up in the morning and the other set of bottles are ready to go in the morning and you can put last night's bottles in the freezer. My doctor says to do 20 minutes each waking hour. I haven't done that, but I have done 4-5 times a day. I got other things to do exercises, walking, eating, medication, napping from the medication, catching up on mail. P.S. why would anyone use a small package of units that freeze to fill their machine when @Andy's Dog House is clearly telling you the bottles with frozen water work? My therapist are enthused at the amount of swelling I don’t have and the amount of flexion of my knee 95° on my own, forced I'm at 102°

    Does this device have a timer?

    • @AndysDogHouse
      @AndysDogHouse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No timmer. You have to unplug it. I used my phone for a timer so I wouldn't leave it on for too long.

      You could also get a smart plug now and set timer on that so it turns on and off when you like

    don't stick your tongue into the electrical outlet and don't take a piece of wire and stick it into the hot side of the electrical outlet barefooted after you get out the bath tub. Hahaha hehehe this video is entertaining when it could have been very basic they treat you like you're stupid. Well some Americans have cognitive dissonance so bad they have crossed over into complete self-inflicted ignorance and stupidity. Keep watching TV and you'll be just fine ....ba baa baaa

    I feel like I am not getting complete cold thearpy from the Iceman. In the video it shows some barrier between the pad and the paitent and then wearing a shirt which adds another layer of insulation. I am doing what was perscribed but my swelling is huge (in my opinion). I almost think I would get the same level of cold thearpy if I just stuck my leg in the refrigerator.

    • @AndysDogHouse
      @AndysDogHouse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used mine for 3 knee replacements and it worked great for me. The pad is made of small pockets that fill with water. There is no barrier on the pad. I wore my PJ bottom under the cold pad because it was too cold on my skin. Don't wrap it too tight. You will stop the flow of water.

    • @lc5640
      @lc5640 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps you have your pad facing the wrong way. The Plastic membrane should be face down. I was told to use a pillow case as barrier between your skin and the pad. Look at my instructions I've previously commented to get the instructions that can help to obtain the ice cold that you can achieve. Good Luck. Another tip to anyone having an surgery. I had a lot of medication. For inflammation, pain, nerve, laxative, nausea and I already take 2 medications and 2 supplements. When I lost a night of sleep because I didn’t keep up with the pain medication, the next evening my neice sent a pill reminder app " Take your pills" This is The best thing since the knee replacement surgery. I stay current with my meds, I am have the best sleep in years. Even if I take 2 a.m. pain pills (I set the water and pills out before I go to sleep).

    Pathetic. Does not have a power on off button. Terrible design, never buy this.

    • @AndysDogHouse
      @AndysDogHouse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The ICEMAN doesn't have an off/on switch either, but if mine stopped working I would buy another one. It is very easy to wire up a switch and a timer if you want one. Besides. how hard is it to unplug the machine when you are done. Any other machine that I looked at cost hundreds more. So for hundreds less, I will just unplug it.😧😲

      I agree with the no power button. Especially for chances are a bed ridden person using it kind of makes no sense lol
