WHY WE CAN NOT USE OTHER TESTS ?? because if will use compression test you will get a straight line 45 degree in between stress and strain graph and sudden failure... in that graph its very difficult to find out when the structural member was in elastic limit, yield stress , ultimate stress but only you can see the last action thats Facture of member.
