I feel like Ben didn’t realized he could still freely attack CGB’s planeswalkers with Ghostly Prison on the field.
they repeat that mistake in another episode again and probably to this day believe ghostly prison protects planeswalkers. :O
As a fellow blue mage who's used to sometimes long turns at the end, I appreciate CGB for his smooth and quick way on that last turn. It was so professional, and it's nice because sometimes when you're obviously gonna win a game with friends, you don't want to drag out a final turn, so going for the throat and making it less painful is good (for the friendships too lol)
I just appreciated that.

CGB couldn't attack Blake with Magus Lucea Kane because he didn't control her since the begining of his turn.
There's also the triggers on the cast copies already mentioned in other comments.
Otherwise, it was a great game of Archnemesis guys !
Fortunately shouldn't matter. Could have used lighting greaves on it, killed blake. Only niv-mizzet dmg he couldn't send to Shea that turn (as Niv also were summoning sick if I remember correctly). Total possible damage at last turn would still have been enough even with that extra 4 life.
@@terriblenorwegiangaming547 Definitely would've been enough with the Goblin Bombardment, he could just sac creatures after combat even if there hadn't been enough damage in attacks.
The Mnemonic Deluge copies the card but you still must cast the copies, so on-cast triggers such as Rhystic Study's ability will still see the spells being cast. It's different from something like a Double Cast which puts copies on the stack of a spell that is already on the stack.
Interestingly, the card copies do exist in/on the stack before casting them, if I am not mistaken.
I do believe the trigger that makes the copies goes on stack, and then you can choose to cast, but the card itself doesn’t go on stack till you cast, but ye came to comments to see if others picked up on that (doesn’t really matter I think tho)
Also, each copy needs to have its targets put on the stack at resolution of Mnemonic Deluge. They shortcut it, and did each individually, but it still requires timing rules to occur.

707.12 from the comprehensive rules has a part that says, “except that the copy is created in the same zone the object is in and then cast while another spell or ability is resolving.” Which means that the card copies are created in the Exile zone since Mnemonic Deluge exiled the card first. So, this would then matter for things that care about casting things from exile, in particular, right? Things like Passionate Archaeologist and Nalfeshnee.

CGB was sooo dominating this game! I love Locust God and Xyris as commanders. Really fun to play :) Haven't played against Tyrannids yet but they look strong too if they get a lot of mana. Kinda wondering why Goblin Bombardment triggers weren't targeting the planeswalkers, can hit any target with it. Also Ben should've attacked the planeswalkers with all those flyers (turn after Blatant Thievery 1) while Ghostly Prison was up as it only protects you from attacks and not the planeswalkers you control. Xyris would've blocked Locust God but still 3 damage to the planeswalker could've made a good difference in finishing them off. Well played everyone, was a cool game!
just a quick note, at 36:29 there are a couple cards that can be used as a response to it such as commit//memory and other "put spell in library" cards

At 29:30, isn't the vigilant token a 14/14?
Because Blasphemous Act only deals 13 damage, so it not being blocked (or targeted by Bombardment) is a pretty big thing to forget.
Ghostly Prison doesn't tax attacking planeswalkers >>
I will say, the Tyranid deck with a Lucea focus works tremendously well if you add untap engines to the deck; with them, she quickly generates an absurd amount of mana to put into an X spell that gets copied a ridiculous amount of times which, with Ravenous, also turns into a great source of card advantage.
Great to see you guys doing a recap of some of the decks from last year! I got into EDH thanks to you guys and Playing with power. Got two 40k precons as an introduction and I managed to make them into strong and consistent decks. Curious to see what directions you'd take them if you did do a 40k upgraded precon matchup!
Have not seen the video yet, but OMG Xyris!! My favorite commander by far and most fun games for my playgroup! Excited for the video!

Really enjoyed watching my favourite commander control this game. ElWINster is such a great card often overlooked by people, very versatile, insane card selection and advantage. Can win by going wide and pump with a candlekeep inspiration, Approach of the second sun which can be cast and retrieved and cast in 1 turn without too many pieces and can go infinite with displacer kitten and mystic speculation to draw your deck and win by jace/labman/Thoracle.
You guys are my favourite commander show. Keep up the great content.
The Copies from Mnemonic Deluge would have triggered Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora, even though they are copies, Mnemonic Deluge just lets CGB cast them for free, but are still cast. as it reads "You may cast the copies without paying their mana costs." or am I wrong here?

The algo decided to toss this into my feed after all this time, and I now know that Blake is an Overwatch fan. I can practically hear the rant about his Genji teammate from here.
Good match. Liked the power level of the decks and counters and board wipes to keep things clean. On the triple copy the steal all the stuff spell I think you ha e to announce all the targets when you put the copies on the stack prior to resolution so there is opportunity to tap the Monolith or sac stuff to the Bombardment unless I'm missing something (not familiar with that specific card or the one that copied it.)
The error was that it doesn't instantly cast 3 copies.
It creates them, and lets you cast them without paying their mana cost.
The copies are all cast separately (so the Rhystic Studies and Remora would still trigger), but because they're all cast one by one, targets only need to be announced when you cast and resolve each one.
Ghostly prison doesn't prevent attacking planeswalkers at anyway, you might want play sphere of safety if you want that kind of thing.
Also, I would like to see how Adeline would work on your games, it's actually good mono white aggro deck just make sure read it right since it triggers any attack you make, not just adeline herself. Plus on multiplayer you get 1/1 human attack everyone.

Dang, gg's. Hind sight is 20/20, but as soon as Ben countered Shay's commander, I immediately thought it was a mistake...turns out, he really could've used that counterspell against his most dangerous opponent. Generally I think they should gang up on CGB much sooner when he's playing a dominant blue deck like this one but instead they weirdly spent the first half of the game weakening each other.

19:20 Cost reduction can not pay for rhystic study because rhystic study triggers after a spell's cost has been paid for and has been added to the stack.
CGB paid for rhystic study using a floating mana from Sol Ring. He was basically saying "because I got a discount from Elminster, I can pay for the rhystic study"
I wonder if Ben had played out that Jeska's will before the Curiosity if it wouldve bated out CGB's Pack of Negation allowing Ben to play his Curiosity and win the game.

i didnt know scrying multiple cards allowed you to switch which order the cards. I thought you just get to look at them and decide to keep em on top or pitch to bottom.

It's own effect making it not a creature only comes into effect after it is in the board.

It was not a pact of negation it was a force of will if Im not mistaken that why he exile from his hand a blue card instead of paying the mana cost of FoW.
@@mindslaver8658 Definetly a Force of Negation, need to exile a card from your hand as well to play it, like Force of Will, but this can only be done during opponents turn.

With regards to Ben using Subtlety on Purpherous.......its not a creature as Shays devotion to red is less than 5........I'm full of cold atm and my brain hurts watching MtG content atm so go easy on me if I dun goofed ;)
Edit: After some thought I couldn't tell if Ben had used Subtlety in response to Purpherous going on the stack or if Purpherous had resolved already. He obv did it in response!!! I blew my nose and my brain got some oxygen and I think it worked for a brief moment there!!!

Subtlety doesn't hit creatures, it hits creature spells, so it couldn't have resolved.

The number of errors and rule mistakes towards the end of this episode made it too frustrating to watch. Once it was clear CGB was winning as a result of the mistakes, I just skipped through the rest of the episode.

Purphoros and the other gods are creature spells on the stack.
