I'm not religious and don't celebrate Christmas, but I like seeing people happy. 110% agree with putting differences aside and trying to love each other, but that's my #1 view on people in general these days rather than a holiday thing lol. There's room for a lot of beliefs in this world, and when people have opinions that we can't stand, or are legitimate ignorant and hateful, hating people back doesn't solve anything, writing people off as sub-human is part of the problem, and any possible communication and connection dies. Letting people voice their opinions and being able to voice our own is how we figure things out and hopefully make things better. We really have a lot in common just as human beings!
I love the fact that we spend some precious time with our family at Christmas, remembering the birth of Jesus but watching all the happy faces as we give gifts, eat tasty food and wash it down with more alcohol than normal. As the family grows we also get to have Christmas celebrations on more than one day, visiting family and friends, stretching out the holiday into a longer period of happiness and goodwill. Although I am religious, you don’t need to be to enjoy the celebration of family at this time of year, and you don’t need to spend tons of money, just time, to make it special. Sending you and the family much love and best wishes, I don’t always agree with your politics, but I do feel that that would never get in the way of a friendship with you if I had the opportunity to meet you. Her pure joy and love for the holiday remind me of how precious life is and how much we need to stay connected with others in a positive way.

While i certainly dont know you nor want to come across as crass, just remember that you deserve to be happy, even if its only for a few moments at a time. Dwelling on the past will only make your present more difficult, and your future harder to asses and navigate. Thats not to say just brush off any sadness or heartbreak, but again, you deserve to be happy try your best to do so even when it seems almost impossible. Anyways, enough of random stranger internet words, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year regardless of the way things have been, and look forward to the days ahead.

When I was a kid and had no money I use to make things to give to people and to this day one of those gifts, a hand painted Christmas village, gets brought out and is the center piece of the table. We are huge chocoholics in my family, so multiple chocolates and chocolate flavoured cakes and hot chocolate make it feel like christmas. A very Merry christmas to all and to all a good night. 🎉
