I knew nothing about these guys before, or this campaign. Now I can’t wait to play it. Anything Eldritch or Cosmic Horror is always welcome in my book, but also, and most importantly, the way they described the structure of the campaign (having no “big bad”, just factions and Player choices) really appeals to me.
You're going to love it, the live play is fantastic and the crew phenomenal. Their how to and ranking videos are considered some of the best. My fingers are dying to type spoilers, but I won't, hope you try it!

You won’t be disappointed. As Monty pointed out even if you don’t use the entire campaign the manner in which the encounters are set up in the material is easily “plug and play” in any campaign.
Dungeons of Drakenheim is one of the most unique and interesting campaign settings to have been created in the past decade. D&D made a great decision to work with "the Dudes" and put this resource out via DnDB.
I love listening to the campaigns. They're excellent! I personally would love to see the rest of the planet and its entirety not just the one continent even though there's five factions I want love to see other continents other stories really the whole world being built not just a set of books on the same continent but that's just me the way I see it is you can start with a continent or a country and then you can literally make it a whole planet with so many different stories that happen in the same universe and on the same planet.

You know, a city destroyed by a magical meteorite, cursed with mutation and harsh environments where different factions seek to control a mystical material and make the ruins over in their own image. I am a big fan of darker styled games and this sounds llike it will fit the bill.
So after watching this video I realized that if you took the faction idea of drakkenheim where you let the players choose what to do and there new idea of revenge of the faction to waterdeep you can have a whole new game. Just a thought.
It's only PDF or even physical? If not, there's some kind of sale for who pre-order it? (it's my first purchase of beyond) Because it's probably the only manual that I really want (big Lovecraft and aberration staff fun) but I can't and don't won't to buy it two time full price.

It's more of a setting of its own, a region that has been hit by a meteor that has had a mutating effect on the region and living creatures. It also draws inspiration from Attack on Titan and Dragon Age. At least as far as the world building is concerned. However, I would agree that Drakkenheim would qualify as a domain of dread. But as far as the BBEG is concerned, I don't see anyone on the same level as Strahd, Vecna or Kas.
Part of the horror of Drakkenheim is that it's on the prime material plane, having been a large capital city, though echoes of the meteor affect all planes at that place.
For any old school GW players, this is Mordheim. It's exactly the same story but it is a really well done conversion to 5E. I honestly have no idea how they didn't get sued by GW, but it's well worth picking up.
Because it's not really? There's alot of similarities but these guys have been playing this world live in youtube for a few years now. It's their own home campaign.

This is actually really smartly written. It's like they had proactive role-playing in mind. Where the players drive the story, rather than reactive.
It's like all the old-school adventures where there's a situation.

I am using the drakkenheim book for my pathfinder 2e game and its so easy to fit it in and it feels so smooth
