I noticed motorcycles out and about, very little snow there, that's a big win from me. The snow piles still remaining in Edmundston are killing that spring has arrived feeling.
@@freywayne6574 As someone from SJ who now lives in Moncton, I find the snow in Moncton to be OPPRESSIVE compared to SJ. We lived between the Bay and SJ River and swept snow from our walkway very regularly. We never owned more than one shovel when we lived in SJ. Love this video. We just moved to Moncton after living all across Canada. What attracted us to Moncton? The Queen’s Square market in Saint John is more equivalent to the markets in Moncton and Fredericton as it is a weekly market. Excited to see you continue promoting NB🖤💞
I lived in Moncton for 2 months. It was my first time living in the Maritimes, so I don't have a frame of reference. I am told that Newfoundland is a great place to live. Anyway, I loved Moncton. Fresh air, friendly people, lots of nature, relatively cheap cost of living, and peace. I'm a big city boy so it must be doing something right.

Hey Owens Fam! I feel I’m able to comment on all three cities having lived in all 3. I was born and raised in SJ until I was 18 when I moved to Fredericton for 4 years for university. I moved back to SJ for 20 years and have now lived in Moncton for the past 8 years. In my experience, SJ - for all its issues - is home and my favourite. I love the ocean, the architecture, the river, and honestly, the fog (makes for a lovely night’s sleep). If you want crazy summer heat, you only have to drive 15 minutes to be fog free. Fredericton holds a special place in my heart because of the university environment, the architecture, the farmer’s market (divoon!), and the river. Now for Moncton, my current home. It’s hot in summer, snowy in winter and has a unique culture due to the French and Newcomers from around the world. It’s also seems to be a more “shopping” focused town. One of my favourite things about the city is its proximity to a swimmable ocean and that it’s so much closer to Halifax. Both Moncton and Fred are more buttoned up in terms of rules and attitudes. SJ is more relaxed and free I would say. As for markets, please remember that the SJ City Market is open weekdays and isn’t a true farmer’s market so it doesn’t belong in the comparison. I love the SJ City Market for the history (ship building skills used for construction like the hull of a ship for the ceiling) and that it’s the oldest, longest running market in North America. And it’s not really fair to throw SJ’s Queen’s Square Market into the mix either because it’s the only one without a permanent building. Without a doubt, hands down, Fredericton’s market wins because of the outside space for vendors. Don’t forget about the Dieppe Market - about 5 kms from the Moncton one - it’s also amazing. Just my two cents. Love you guys!
Hey Jordan, I was born and raised in Saint John, and just last summer I moved to moncton to be closer to my girlfriends family. As someone already mentioned, Moncton is ideal due to their proximity to PEI, Halifax and the recreational area of Shediac and beyond. It has a young, vibrant feel with young families and newcomers and the “things to do” are more obvious, such as shopping. However, in Saint John you have to scratch the surface a little bit more to unravel what it has to offer, and I feel it’s just more compelling. Does anyone walk around downtown Moncton and say they really feel inspired? But inspiration is subjective. I have Moncton friends that think it’s the greatest place because it has Moxie’s, Structube and other trendy places (including IHOP and a casino). They wouldn’t know about Tuck Studio in Saint John or even make an effort to learn about what SJ has to offer. There are two big differences between the two cities: first, Moncton rapidly expanded from 1990’s to current with more modern homes and buildings. Saint John rapidly expanded in the 1800’s - consequently we are left with amazing architecture and “spaces”. These attract artisans, entrepreneurs and chefs and we created one of the most beautiful historical zones in Canada. Second is topography - the location on the bay and on several hills gives it a unique feel - starting from the harbour you walk up into the city and are surrounded by beautiful parks, history, buildings, etc. In Moncton, it’s basically Main St with small off shoots of what is in SJ. Reality is people who love SJ have a sense of connection to what it has to offer, and others could not give a rat’s a@@ about the history / architecture and are rather excited more about strip malls. Moncton will continue to do a lot better than SJ because they know how to sell themselves and are positive. Unfortunately in SJ there is a large segment of naysayers, complainers and long standing tradition of negative self evaluation. Some amazing projects are happening in Saint John, such as refurbishment of Loyalist plaza and construction of Fundy Quay, yet it’s just a flood of negative comments. We can’t seem to have anything nice for ourselves without people complaining about it. I think this attitude affects are growth. People literally complained about Irving constructing a $50 m + building on an empty car parking lot uptown - they’d rather have a parking lot than something nice it’s so ingrained. Lastly, people when they think of Saint John only picture Uptown and industry. They don’t realize the northern part of the city with all the bays and rivers that provide the best boating in Atlantic Canada - stretching from Grand Bay, through Millidgeville and up to Rothesay / Gondola Point.
My boyfriends family wants to move to Moncton which means I’d possibly be moving from Ontario with them. Hello , owens family . Bro u make nice videos . Very inspiring . I will say couple things about moncton . 1. Moncton is a hub city in many ways . Someone pointed it out in terms of distance in comment section already . However this also tends to stay true in terms of logistics industry . Which itself encompasses trucking , forklift drivers, labourers and so many other blue and white collar jobs . Availability of jobs is one reason why more people are attracted to moncton . 2. The flow of good from central canada to eastern Canada starts from moncton . Its distributed anywhere else in eastern Canada from moncton . So if you live here u are looking at shorter time frames for inventory fullfillment . 3. A simple job search for a "laborer" on indeed gave me 40 results for saint john and 62 results for moncton . 4. When you come to moncton next time make sure to visit or drive through north moncton, dieppe , riverview atleast. If you still have more time drive through Ammon, irishtown etc . Big money around there as well . The area overlooking north moncton and casino on top of a creek with million dollar homes is worth driving through . Its super sexy . 😂 5. For kids , go to saint anselme park in dieppe , ymca place near central moncton , another ymca place in north moncton . Just drive through there . 6. For vegan or vegetarian food visit calactus . For bread 🍞 go to co pain artisanal breads. They also have a stall at the food market on weekends. Take bread home i cant get enough of it . For italian food go to gustos in downtown . They have vegetarian options. Theres some indian food restaurants as well. Some have sub par taste some have excellent taste . I wont throw out any names unde the bus but Indish , taj or tandoori zaika , and euphoria are all OK. It all depends on the day. Theres another indian restaurant on st george they have enormous take home quantities. 😂 7. We have some plazas with good names but i wont say they are special. But theres 3 huge plazas in a circumference of 2 kms . Which is plaza st walmart , best buy across the street , old navy, winners , marshalls , canadian tire ,mountain road , starbucks , structube , banana republic , etc are all in the same area . Superstore, brick , east side Mario's, kelseys, mexis, are all there as well . 7. We also have the mall if you guys are into indoor shopping at all. 8. You have amzing music as a background score. I wonder where you bring it from . 9. I ve watched your videos on and off ever since i moved to moncton in 2021. 10. We always wanted to visit st john . But never got the chance to . 11. Maybe next summer when i visit there i m going to visit all spots you guys have shown in videos . Best of luck for everything .
Thanks for the though out comment! #8 Many places but mostly Epidemic sound. Sometimes I use music I like from Spotify but those videos I can not monetize :P
