G’day Peter. Good seeing you out in the shop making parts and fixing lawnmowers. I’ve got 2 of those motors sitting here. Thinking of making an in-line 2 cylinder engine. Cheers 🍻. Aaron
G'Day Aaron. Thanks mate, yeah the old mower is showing it's age, it needs a little love. Making a two single cylinder engine from these would be interesting, reminds me of 805 Roadking series on the 4 cylinder engine he made from these motors, I encourage you to give it a go. Cheers, Peter
G'day Matty. Mate they have always intrigued me, start em cold straight to full throttle rev the guts out of it for 2 hours then back in the shed for a week or two. And the front axle is only held in place with a bit of wire, no bolts and straps yet it's worked for the past 20 years amazing. And the air filter, a piece of crappy foam operating in a grass and dust storm all it's life and yet it works, they are an incredible piece of equipment we treat with contempt. Cheers Peter
G'day Kev. I checked out the cost of a new mower and it was a good incentive to repair this old machine but for many it would be time to throw it out. Cheers Peter
Well that was a bit of work. That is an interesting adjustment setup. That should be on all push mowers. Mine you have to adjust each individually. Of course I can make tapered cuts by leaving one side high if I am in the mood😁
G'day Eddie. I've seen those individual height adjustment types and were never keen on them, I had supposed they were handy to give a tapered cut but that's too much work when the yard is relatively small and your working around garden beds and such compared to a football field but then I rarely change the cutting height. The front axle fixing is so simple, just a wire clip, if you lost one it could easily be replaced with tie wire, simple and effective and if I didn't have a lathe the pins could have been made simply by chucking a piece of rod in a drill, grind and file to size and use a split pin instead of the E clip. Cheers Peter
G'day Paul. Even lawnmowers deserve a little love every now and again since we treat them with contempt every time we have to cut the grass. Cheers Peter
