Really glad you did this.. my range took a dive as soon as temps dropped to 8 deg c and below. Many people agree to expect 30% reduction once things get cold.

Yes that is true😁. It is one of the burden of electrification😂. I guess this will not be a huge range problem in near future when the average EV can do more than 600 miles per a single charge😀

I’ve just purchased an EQC 1886. Are you still driving your car? Any comments? Reliability?

As alternative to Summer tires, Mercedes sell "MO" winter tires too which improve traction and safety under about 7 Celsius I understand. Also I have heard about winter tires changing range for good or bad, though the bad reports tend to be when winter tires have studs or are used in warmer temperatures. One advantage of the winter tires might be that less work of the electric motor is needed to move the car because the winter tires provide excellent traction on slippery surfaces, though I am just speculating!
As you know, another improvement would be to check tire pressure because it can drop a few psi below recommended in winter and the app seems to only show tire pressure measurements after driving - when the tire pressure is about 2psi higher than for measuring purpose.
A favorite feature even if no pre-heat, is that the electric heater starts immediately so not have to wait for the engine to warm up for hot air. Also liking how 4matic helps traction control and seems to react faster and more accurately due to near-instant electric motor control. And the weight of the car seems to help prevent being blown about by windy conditions. And the headlights are so bright even showing treetops way above the car. Happy🎄& New Year

    Hi
Just took delivery of my EQC and I also live in the Bradford area I think like yourself ?
Your videos are so helpful in starting to understand more about my first electric car - I love it !
I did choose it on the understanding that it would do 250 miles but the most I can get the battery too is around 190 miles.
Looking forward to your future videos - Happy New Year 👍

Hey Steve, Congrats on your new car delivery! It is a great car to own and drive. Yes as I mentioned in the video, winter does affect range but range will improve as we move away from winter😄. Glad the you found my video helpful! Yes I also live in Bradford 😁. Have a lovely New Year as well, you and your family! Regards

so because of the preconditioning you are not worrying about range. okey, when you bring firewood in your trunk, you wont freeze after it is shutting down.

With every respect, I don’t think you have experienced winter in your EQC. With temps at around -10°C and 50 cm of snow, my EQC uses a lot of power just for heating, and will not exceed 280 km range.

😂😂😂👍 yes your are right our winter here in the UK is a lot milder. Thanks for your comment!

With every respect he can only experience winter in the country he is driving. The UK still has a 4 season calendar. Maybe you could do a video of your ownership in a harsher winter.

With 50cm of snow - you will get a range of 0miles. Because the car is not able to drive through it it is not a snowmobile :) . In cold winter if you drive not too fast, a distance of 160mls should be possible on highways . Enought for most tripss I think. Disadvantage of the EQC is the slow charging speed on longer trips in winter.

Thanks for sharing. 280km seems reasonable in such conditions. Having recently picked up an EQC 1886 I’m interested to hear about how longer term owners are getting on. Still enjoying the car? Reliability?
