Lovely clean photographs of the stunning Marsh Harriers😲🙂📸❤. Great video Steve Hedges !! Interesting information on the Marsh Harrier too, you’re so knowledgeable🙂😲. Didn’t think you’d need to up the shutter speed for a bird that doesn’t fly so fast. Very invaluable information 😲👍🙂📸.
Thanks very much Nirmal I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. Yes Marsh Harriers are super interesting and great birds to photograph. Thanks for watching, all the best Steve.
Hi Steve, thanks very much. Yeah I agree with you, they certainly need good light on them. Otherwise the pictures tend to look a bit soft. Keep well, all the best Steve.
Hi there Steve, I was at Rspb Fowlmere on Saturday and I good a few fairly nice shots of Marsh Harriers. Another nice video. Z8 seems to be doing the business. 😊 All the best.
Hi Steve, I really like this bird. I love to see them hunt. It's brilliant that they have recovered, almost from extinction in the UK in the 1970s. I have photographed several times. I'm learning. I will try stopping down as you suggested to get sharper shots. One thing I find, is when they get too close to a hide and they spot you they veer away quickly, so most of my shots are slightly too far away.
Hi John, yes cracking birds aren't they? Their recovery has been brilliant to be honest. They are quite nervous birds with fantastic eye sight so often they spot us photographers and move away a bit like buzzards actually. You just have to be lucky to get close shots, all the best Steve.
Ah that sounds fantastic Joe, Norfolk is good for Marsh Harriers isn't it? Did you get some good shots? Sounds like you had a better time than me, I've spent the last 5 days putting up a new fence in my back garden. Certainly aching now!
@@SteveHedgesPhotography I got some okay shots, looking at them now! Sadly I missed out on the most epic shot of a Marsh Harrier you have ever seen! I had to move my van to let a tractor pass and the Harrier dived onto a target only 25m from me! Gutted isn't the word! I am definitely optimistic about going back though and taking months to get the perfect shot!
It certainly sounds like a location that's worth some more visits. If I had a pound for every shot I've missed for one reason or another I would have quite a few pounds mate! Just about to watch mammals on the BBC, looks like it should be good. Good luck with the March Harriers mate.
Found this really interesting as I was at RSPB Lodmoor only yesterday looking for marsh harrier and Cetti's. Heard the Cetti's, didn't see one. Saw the marsh harrier but it was a long way off and my camera just would not focus on it. I only have a 70-300mm lens now. However, sparrowhawk came and sat in trees just opposite us and flew out so got a few nice shots of that instead!
Thanks very much really pleased you found my video interesting. Even a distant view of a marsh harrier is nice to see but a sparrowhawk is a fantastic substitute. All the best Steve.
@@SteveHedgesPhotography You're right - and there is always another time for the marsh harrier....hopefully a bit closer!! Look forward to your next video - I always learn something from them and enjoy your images and footage.
Brilliant, Naturalists make the best nature photographers it goes hand in hand eh, always know your subject. really enjoyed this buddy, i've photographed Peregrines food passing but marsh harriers are spectacular when they do it! I've set a back button up for a small focus group up for birds in flight too, Great vid I'll be home in a few weeks will have to catch up if your about ..... JP
Thanks very much JP really pleased you enjoyed it. Yes the more you know about the animal the better the pictures. Peregrine food passing that must have been spectacular to watch. I'm very jealous. Yep I would love to meet up when you get home. Cheers all the best Steve.
The facts were pretty useful Steve, there's an area I have seen them before that I had forgotten about so definately could be fruitful in the future. Take care :)
Thanks Joe, pleased you enjoyed it. Yes I think we're lucky living in East Anglia because it's such a stronghold for marsh harriers isn't it? Thanks for watching mate, take care yourself. Cheers Steve.
Hi Steve, nice video this, I up to now have had the opportunities to photograph these birds the last couple of years and have never really nailed em. I will definitely take your tips on board. Cheers Mate 📸👍🏽
Thanks very much Bob, really pleased you enjoyed it. Yes BIF are probably the hardest thing to get right in photography. I think it's a case of fast shutter speed, good AF and lots of practice. All the best Steve.
Hi , thanks for watching my video. I don't know the reason behind their survival rate. I don't think they are being shot though, that's more of a problem for hen harriers I believe. I think I need to do a bit more research. All the best Steve.

Good video, stills and tips Steve. Not the most photogenic birds to shoot, but in the right light, they look fantastic.
Hi Steve, thanks very much. Yeah I agree with you, they certainly need good light on them. Otherwise the pictures tend to look a bit soft. Keep well, all the best Steve.
Good video Steve . Great birds to photograph. I have my best shots over the Read beds at RSPB Radipole, Weymouth Dorset UK . Good work 👍
Thanks very much Mark, yes cracking birds aren't they? Especially when they hover. Cheers Steve.

I have possibly found the best spot for Marsh Harriers in Norfolk Steve! At least 3 or 4 seen today in a small area!!

@SteveHedgesPhotography If you ever head up to Norfolk mate I'll take you there! Looks like Norfolks best kept secret as I never see anyone there!
Hi Joe, that would be great. I'll let you know when I've got a free day, hopefully we can find one that's good for both of us. Cheers mate.

Interesting video Steve. Only 15% reach 3 yo. What is happening to them any ideas? I assume nothing predates them so are they getting shot?
