Very Nice, I just knew you'd end up with a Joe Zon signature model. I love the fact that you're sound hasn't changed. Just another example of the sound coming from primarily from the hands. Congrats.. Still Need Ya Back In Colorado
Awesome bass man, congrats on it. I'm still working on picking up an MTD585... although a good chunk of change a handmade instrument like this really is a big investment.
oh yeah, thanks for the compliments, too! Glad you like the Trios stuff. I'm working on (done tracking!) my first original disc now that should smoke that one! lol Should be done and out in just a few months! Hoping to do some select touring support behind this one, as well...
Thanks man! I'm using an Alembic F1-X Tube pre and a QSC power amp. Love this rig! The only thing that I've played that I love even more is the stuff from Klockenklang. Amazing tone and power (but VERY expensive and VERY heavy)
LoL haaa . sadowsky uses this 'honeycomb" design on their NYC basses (nothing showing) it cuts down the weight and makes the body a little more resonate while playing. on the TJ-6's..(mandolin frets-smaller fretwire) , I love them. 33' scale (gwizdala and Garrison). beautiful initial design. I definately would buy one of your signatures with these tweeks.... thanks Damian, i love you're Trios cd and i cant wait for your own group to do some touring.
I have the tri-115, actually. I LOVE it (have 2). The Accu's are so clear and the EQ is flat, so the accu 15"s sounds like most other 12's.. I think the tri-115 cab is the perfect cab!
Hi Damian, Love the new bass...i know its still very early to quite know yet, but any potential refinements or tweeks you may want in the next build? 33'' scale perhaps?, or honeycombed body? mandolin frets? fretboard ajoining the ramp? etc.
you should call or email Pete at the shop! I don't know about the honeycomb thing, but he has a ton of options and could do the other stuff, I'm sure (I know he does 33" and fret wire gauge is no big obstacle). The bass is also amazingly light (weighs about the same as my other 4 strings). google him (youtube doesn't allow url's, etc in msgs) and hit him up! Very helpful guy to talk to...
My rig was flat for this video.. I keep it pretty flat but might tweek it for the room depending on where I'm playing. I have no idea how I had the MarkBass stuff set. I always start flat and tweak from there. I remember that I wasn't digging the MB sound until I messed with the Tube emulator (whatever it's called?) knob... dialed in a decent sound after that.
D'OH! It's not a Zon!! It's by Pete Skjold. I'm still a Zon guy as well, but mostly just using my Zon4 for certain 4-string gigs... This is my Skjold and is more for versatility and when I get to do "my thing" (whatever that is?!)
Cool man so what do you set your amp like? Is it flat? I have a Markbass rig but if I set it flat, it gets a little muddy and too middy sounding...how did you set your Markbass stuff when you checked it out if you remember?
So when you messed with it did it take away from the highs or sweep the mids and add highs and bass? If it just killed the highs and increased the bass, then that was the VLE but if it made it crisp and less middy, that was the VPF...I am tempted to check out a new bass amp but I would have to find something in the price range to trade this one out!...
@carloscs5 I'm not sure what you read into my reply but I'm really not sure what my exact bass costs. No attitude intended. I guess I can ballpark it, most of his basses wind up being much more affordable thamany custom builders... Usually between $3-5k depending on options, woods, etc... I suppose my bass would be near the upper range of that scale. But I don't know exactly what they cost. I AM quite easy going. Nt sure why I wss misunderstood so.
Agh... Not sure (sorry!). Pete just interprets my grunts and snorts into a list of things to achieve when he builds the bass and I suck at knowing much about it.... Sorry man. Pete would surely answer your question if you asked him through the website.
@JTIFMEL09 alright, I'll try to do one (it's been too long since I've done a youtube video anyway)! That groove is from one of my songs off of my album "So To Speak". It's also transcribed in a book I'm just finishing up (that also has an audio CD of all groove examples, etc..). I've already started selling digital versions of the book. Hit me with an email address if you're interested
@carloscs5 It's my fault man. Reading back, I realize that, d'uh... That's how it would be perceived. I remember I was tryingvto very quickly respond to a lot of msgs & comments before leaving the house & I simply wasn't thinking when I left that. My apologies. I pride myself on making time for anyone who wants it & treating people with respect & that's not how I responded to you. My fault entirely Thanks for dialoguing about it, tho! Take care man & thanks for sending me the reminder! 8)

Amazing playing and ridiculously amazing tones!

I've got to comment again man! 8:08 ! Crazy! That's so soulful.

That BASS IS A BEAST!!!!
Very nice bass. I like the built in ramp! Congrats.
Andrew Kallenbergr
Great playing as usual.
Damian! I love the bass man! Sounds great and I'd rather check it out in person someday. What kind of head are you using?
Great bass built by a real nice guy.

mine is 16.5mm. I like em thinner than most.. Pete's going to have them in standard spacings as well..
simply beautiful, im usually into MTD's but this thing is simply amazing i have 2 get 1... how much do they cost???
My rig was flat for this video.. I keep it pretty flat but might tweek it for the room depending on where I'm playing. I have no idea how I had the MarkBass stuff set. hey that is officially my dream bass! and you should put some videos up of your work with Mike Michalkow

Really nice bass and tone there! Congrats
what is the string spacing?
Wow man, that is the perfect bass! The ramp/pickup idea is awesome. Hmm, I better start saving, or sell a kidney or something....
hmmm... mandolin frets..... what's a honeycombed body anyway? chambered? now we're just getting crazy
That's one nice bass. When is Bass Sessionz 2 coming out BTW?
are there 2 treble knobs? Im thinking you meant to say its a volume push/pull active passive?
Thanks brother! preciate that!

Does this bass have a single truss rod maybe even an Titanium one?
How much does this bass weight?
Are you related to Peter Erskine?
I've played thru the MarkBass stuff and dug it. Pretty versatile and sounds great! Way cheaper than a Walter Woods, too ;)
did you email Gerald through the website?
@pleximanic Hey man. Single truss with graphite reinforcement rods. Weighs around 11lbs I think? Peters my uncle! Thanks for checking out the vid...
New Bass Blah Blah... Important question where did you get that "Bass/Hockey" jersey.....?
@carloscs5 I'm not sure what you read into my reply but I'm really not sure what my exact bass costs. No attitude intended.

what was the total price of this bass?(not like im gonna buy one lol)
Congrats man,
If you are looking to get rid of your Zon let me know ; )
Agh... Not sure (sorry!). Pete just interprets my grunts and snorts into a list of things to achieve when he builds the bass and I suck at knowing much about it.... Sorry man. Pete would surely answer your question if you asked him through the website.
