Hard with the Shafts isn't it. Hopefully someone comes up with some spares for you bud. Didn't kyle Gibson source a run for these. Maybe they were fwd big block ones.
Cracking progress Dan. I've used a different cable mount for mine and then had a bracket made to hold it as the F18 doesn't have the mounting provisions like the F17 does. Yours is the newer style F17 one, I have one too if you ever need a spare, you're welcome to it. If you ever need to check anything i'm happy to bring the car down to yours so you can take a look at it properly. Can leave it with you if you need to replicate the bracket or anything. Also, drop the part number you've got for the CV joints and i'll do some hunting for you. I've found a few online that say they're compatible with 4x4 na GSi and 4x4 Turbo but not sure if they're correct?
Nice work Dan. Be sure to change those crusty brake shoe backing plates before you fit the arms. They've just gone on my Cav Turbo, and I've realised that in order to change them (they are available new on ebay thankfully) the whole arm has to come off as new wheel bearings need pressing in to do the job! Shame about the shafts. Are you looking at big money for custom made driveshafts if that's the preferred option?
Thank you. Yeah I plan to change them/make some, or do something before it's built up. This is a purely the mockingup stage. There not big money, if the fact I can't get the metal collar off which worries me. I will sort it though 🙂
Loving this rear axle build, can't wait to see it on the car all nicely painted/powder coated with new nuts/bolts etc. Great that your keeping it OEM style with standard width. Can't wait for next upload.
Standard track, just much bigger wheels. They will be four inches closer together compared to a standard SR but the same outer width if that makes sense?
@@DanielBall quality mate I’ve always wanted to build a 4x4 nova and keep it standard looking but my sr is staying a 1.3 on 40’s lol! Money no object tho id love a 4x4 nova lol
Great video again Dan, loving the new haircut. 😎👌🏼
Thank you 😊
Great effort mate !
Thank you 😊
Enjoying this one mate , good work
Thank you 😊
Loving the progress 😎
Thank you 😊
Sleeves en route 👍🏻
You're a star 🌟
@@DanielBallMichael did my hub conversion using the vag bearings and machined my hubs out to accept big block shafts and flanges. Handy guy to know

He does fwd one, and can make me some rwd ones, but back to the same problem. I would rather not damage a perfectly good set of CV boots/joints too

Thanks pal, appreciate it. I will send you the number. Everyone I have found comes back as a front one even if it says back 😭
Can you not use vauxhall omega shafts
You would think so, but they are a slightly different both ends. Basically a scaled up version from what I can gather. Same as Carlton's
The big take away from this seems to be you need a haircut to complete a 4x4 conversion
That's definitely the case haha 🤣 I think I am going to need a few more before its drivable too.

Thank you, these kind of comments fill me with enthusiasm to get out and do a bit more 😀
Is it staying the standard track or fitting wide arches hope it’s the former

@markworley3382 thanks pal, yeah that will be nice 🙂
@@DanielBall yea it’s getting picked up for a resto this month 😊
@markworley3382 oh brill, send us some photos 🙂
Nice work. Keep the content coming... I had a quote of £540 for custom shafts if that sways you to fab your own?
Thank you. I know a guy who can sort me out, but I am tempted to just make my own.
