I wanna take a minute and thank you for explaining it to maximum simplicity.
my teacher doesnt do this at all,example,you said to multiply and my teacher would just answer the question and wait for us to figure it out ourselves.

* = square root

Brackets are just another way to represent multiplication sign. You open the bracket and write the multiplication sign over there.
