"Stories Behind the Stones" Homestead Cemetery

The Homestead Cemetery located in Munhall, PA was incorporated in 1886. There are many notable persons buried in this cemetery: Veterans from the Spanish American War, Civil War, WW 1 and WW11, three of the seven strikers who were killed during the Battle of Homestead, several Negro League professional sports players including those who played in the Homestead Grays baseball team, plus many founding families and local dignitaries/politicians. The Homestead Cemetery board members are actively involved in preserving the cemetery's history through a vast archive collection plus organizes activities involving the community throughout the year. Their main goal is to preserve and tell the stories of those buried here in the cemetery.
