Last night I stopped by the Dedicant with hatch breaker and collector limpets and filled up my cargo hold with Far God cultists. I was relentlessly hyperdicted and interdicted by a Scythe all the way back to my carrier! Fortunately, my ship was fast enough to outrun the Scythe and it's nasty little limpets, but I'm going to load one of the pods into an AX battle wagon and see how the newest Hunter likes being hunted...

After Update 16 I have had more game freeze's and had to Control, Alt, delete to get out, and restart game. One weird happening was I was landing on a new planet froze and crashed, had to restart. When I got back into game I spawned on the planet I was on before the one I was trying to land on. So strange!
My ship's point defence used ammo when I was interdicted by a Scythe, but it still robbed the escape pod I was carrying, so I'm guessing the point defence isn't much better against Thargoid limpets than they are against Thargoid missiles. The Scythe also had missiles that rebooted my FSD and other modules. Which was all kinds of NOT GOOD.
@@hedganian The Scythe is actually quite easy to fight. It doesn't do much damage and 2 large, 2 medium Azimuth AX multicannons on my Phantom make short work of them. They aren't more dangerous than typical NPC pirates and pay well. Scythe fishing might become my main combat activity in Alert systems :)
@@cmdr.shurimal8980 - it's not easy to fight when you're flying a T6 with 1 class 1 burst laser, 1 class 1 multicannon, and under 300 shield points. 🤷🏼♂️

OK, that spoiler is just crazy! FD is clearly opening the story to on-foot combat with aliens, slow and steady. It is just perfect approach, I love the story behind that instead of just throwing it in.
I fired ED for the first time in a few months last night. Collected some passengers from 69 Upsilon Tauri - they paying 24 million and 19 million and iirc were marked danger level 8. Was Hyperspace interdicted jumping to NN 3278 (and returned to 69 Upsilon Tauri according to logs) by that new thargoid (given shape on scanner). It's fast! My rescue clipper boosts to around 555 and was only _just_ able make distance once I realised and started spamming the boost. The thargoid must run over 500m/s and possibly around 540m/s? So glad I wasn't in my python LOL
Thanks for the updates, including the spoiler stuff. Been out in the black for awhile and it's nice to keep tabs on what's going on back in civilization.

I would REALLY love to see "Ship Loadouts" added, as well either a list of what loadouts a piece of gear is in, or even renaming the individual pieces. "Anaconda Beam Laser" and "Type10 AFK Laser" and stuff, since you engineer them differently Just annoying having to own multiple corvettes, Type 9s, Cutters, etc just because sometimes I want to use it for one thing, sometimes another, so I need to pull up my spreadsheet of EDSY builds and cross reference to make sure I have the right parts on, redoing power priorities, etc. Digging the Thargoid stuff, but my AX Vette build is so different from my "Eff you, eat rail guns" PVE build, or my PVE Anaconda vs my Evac Anaconda, Mining Type 9 vs Long Distance Hauling type 9, etc, think it would just be a great Quality of Life thing. Hell, even have diff AX Vette builds based on if I am solo or with friends, it would save a TON of time.
Yes- but loadouts for ships is tricky. Your modules can easily be widely spread around various systems and also highly likely already in use on other ships. As a result 99% of the loadouts would be invalid as the modules that form them are elsewhere or already in use. The loadout system works well for on-foot stuff, as all your gear is with you all of the time.
@@trouvereyork true, but it can easily work like transferring a ship. Need to wait X minutes for the loadout to arrive, parts in other ships would be replaced with ones in storage at that location, or filled with a E rated one that fits if unavailable, like selling your power plant does if not replacing it with another, etc
@@METALmurdererOG Inadvertently setting out with E rated modules in a ship would be far more irritating that not having ship loadout functionality. Also, it would take anything up to an hour in the bubble for modules to arrive. That's not really a viable plan.
@@trouvereyork it would only be a mistake you made once though. Not to mention ppl have home stations and carriers where 90% of their stuff is. I fly my explorer next to where I am gonna do AX stuff, transfer my AX ship, then make food, take a shower, run to the store etc. "It would take an hour" is hardly a complaint when this game takes forever in a lot of regards. Do something while you wait, or plan your time better aka Go where you need to be and transfer it before you log for the night

When do we get something else than additional layers of thargoid content? No more CGI from FDEV since Update 14 deployment...? When do we get a consistent thargoid advance? What do we do with all those people evac'ed? Are we ever going to settle in new systems? Colonize outside bubble/Colonia? Would the building schematics we collect on-foot function towards this endeavour?
While I was at the Dedicant, another player hacked the ship’s cargo bays, releasing escape pods. I grabbed a few - for science 😅 The Dedicant logs are epic and creepy. I hope there is more coming to this story line. On a site note, 1h prior to the last server tick, a system wide message stated that the Thargoids have been defeated in HIP 19600. I didn’t encounter any while in the system. Should be safe for any player to go there.
Yeah, I made the mistake of going soon after it was discovered, and the system was still full of Thargoids. As I was in my exploration ship, I managed to evade one interdiction, but not the second, and in my panic, got myself killed. Unfortunately, because the system is now Thargoid-free, no-one seems to believe me. I've had some nasty comments aimed at me on other videos, claiming I'm a liar, or I dreamed it. However, I do have the proof in my game Journal, I just can't post it here on YT as it doesn't seem to allow linking to my dropbox in comments.
@@Darkcyde13It must have crawled with goids after U16 dropped. Given the number of FC in surrounding systems, the community made minced meat out of the goids in just a day. I‘m there in a cold, fast Dolphin. Helps to hide in the megaship’s structures. :) I‘m more concerned about CMDRs showing up in their battle ships, than the goids. Open, of course. On the plus, made a new friend while out there.
@@Darkcyde13 IIRC, HIP 19600 was cleared of Thargoids in about 12 hours. Not really surprising, considering how potent sampling is in unpopulated systems more than 15 or so ly from Maelstrom. A few dedicated commanders can clear such a system easily.
@@Darkcyde13 I've had mostly the same experience, except I was lucky enough to be able to kill the glaive that intercepted me and managed to limp back to a ground base with 4% hull, a shattered canopy and several broken modules ;) When I returned with a better equipped ship, the Thargoids had already been driven out.

Thanks for the update. Do you think all this Thargoid stuff will come to a conclusion with update 17? I'd really like to see them return to progressing other areas of the game soon.
The war....I think it likely yes. I obviously haven't a Scooby Doo but yes...I suspect so. I don't think the content itself will go away .. just morph and close off the story. I get that folks want other stuff focused on.. But to play devil's advocate a moment (and I'm really not an AX guy) the AX people haven't had ANYTHING new since the hydra... They didn't even get a thing when Odyssey launched so they are well overdue some love imho :)
Salvage efforts on the Dedicant were hampered by regenerating defence turrets - destroying the turret generator would stop it for a while but then it would respawn a new generator and open fire again - very unfair I feel.
Automated weapons arrays have always repaired themselves. It'd be way too easy if the weapons stayed offline. The generators are very easy to knock out.
So the ships above the new Thargoid sites are invisible to the Thargoid sentinel drone sensors. Is this because of interference from the sites. Or have we stumbled upon a Thargoid sensor blind spot that is universal to all Thargoid vessels outside of Thargoid controlled space. Is it related to the corral tree sap? Can we exploit this discovery to develope some sort of human ship cloaking component?
I do know that some folks from the AXI discord have been running combined arms fighting at the matrix sites. Reaching out there would probably net you a good bit of information (and a few neat video clips of the action).
The biggest problem with on foot combat zones is that ships can dominate the ground with missiles if there's no reliable way to distract them. Countless times you just see people on ships rain missiles on either revenants or regular cz's. I wonder how they'll counter that this time. Maybe more interceptors? Specific enclosed areas with cover? Time will tell if this is on foot thargoids battles incoming
However, they counter it, they have to do it in a 'realistic' way. Its right that air cover can dominate ground combat. However, if as you suggest, thargoid ships are present that will defend against air attacks - that will stop CMDRs in ships being able to provide much (or any) ground support.
Thargoid ground shields. power by the planet core and impossible to penetrate, except for on the ground opening. We know the Guardian had such city wide shields.

Has any one found if point defense turrets target thimpets? Also, that recording is bone chilling!

I've heard that ECM is effective against Thargoid limpets, but haven't tested that firsthand yet.

looks like PD turrets are about to become standard equipment.
If they don't work against the Tharg limpets, I've heard that ECM is effective. That's a keybind I've almost never used!
The PD turret I slapped on my Phantom didn't seem to do jack against the thargoid hatch breaker...
I hope that in the future they will release a new ship purely developed for thargoid combat

It looks different yes so you can call it a reskin if you like, but it also behaves completely differently from the glaive. It's objectives are different and it weapons and tools are different.

?? I play using a HOTAS, and frequently play in VR if I'm not going to be doing anything on foot.
once my ship gets repaired im going to be hunting alot more. i need to get me some guardian level tech to even hope to touch them. then. its go time.
