I hear you Jared, there's so many to choose from and quite a few really great options. I always say to buy the bigger size that you're considering if you're wavering between two sizes. There's been quite a few times where I wished I had more room, and I can't think of a single time I wished I had less room.
The Barbecue Lab great point! When deciding on which one I’ll have to grab the bigger size now haha, definitely narrowing it down to brand and model also
I used to be a catering chef and used a TREAGER and green mountain grill side by side and the TREAGER could not compete. The GMG recovered so much faster when opening and closing the lids, they also cooked way more evenly they also don’t have a million versions on the basically same grill but different legs or colors like some other pellet grills. I love my jim Bowie
Do you notice that the Jim Bowie smokes a bit more? Recently I picked own up at my local shop. It was used as a demo grill (lightly) and it was the same price as a new DB. My JB seems to excessively smoke even at 275 when it cycles. When I say excessive, it billows out of every crevice. It doesn’t seem to make the meat taste bad. But I’m waiting for my neighbors to call the police. Haha
I love my GMG Davy Crockett Grill. Five years and still working great. I also learned that for the same technology used in GMG grills, you'll be paying hundreds of dollars more in another brand.
Hi David, great video as always. If purchase price were no object, which would you go for of the following? GMG prime Jim Bowie Z Grills 700DE Traeger Ironwood 885 I’m interested if the build quality and features of the Traeger is worth the extra for a long-term purchase. Thanks!
Hi David, if I was going to decide on a pellet grill between those three without a budget restriction, I can really only speak to the Traeger and the ZGrills. I’ve done an interview walkthrough of the GMG, but haven’t ever cooked on one. The Traeger has a ton of finesse. It’s like working with a current model luxury sedan. The ZGrills is more of a stripped down model without any bells and whistles. That’s why the price difference. With the Traeger, it’s pretty much set it and forget it, and alerts come to my phone. That’s what I would chase in a pellet grill. I want ease of use since I’m going to be using it while I’m working and doing other things. That’s what I’d want anyhow.
I haven’t cooked yet, but today I was torn between a reqtec 700 and the Jim Bowie, I went with the Bowie I will be cooking ribs Sunday. This is very un orthodox for me not to use a standard log wood smoker but a buddy of mine bought his Bowie and loves it. I got the prime not the regular
I haven’t personally cooked on a Jim Bowie, but seeing it in action in person made me want to give it a go. I hope you really enjoy it Joshua! I love my stick burner, but there are many times I’ll reach for a pellet grill during the week when I just don’t have time to put a new log on the fire every 45 minutes.
Just got a Jim Bowie, it doesn't work literally. It turns on, won't stay on, doesn't heat up to temp that its set to.. disappointed for sure. I'm returning it
Great video. Looking to get my first pellet grill this summer just still deciding on which one.

We haven't cooked on a GMG yet, but the Prime Jim Bowie seems like a BEAST at this price point.

I just bought mine today and excited to get it set up and get the first burn off.
Congratulations Chas! I hope you enjoy the smoker.

I have had my GMC Jim Bowie for about 7 years now and it is still going strong. I wish I had the new features though!
Awesome to hear that it’s lasted for 7 years Justin!

@@TheBarbecueLab that’s great thanks. Having not had a chance to cook on them, just view it sounds like your thoughts mirror my initial impressions

Buyer beware hard to get correct replacement heating element Amazon offers incorrect element to Jim Bowie grills
Is the paint job better on the new ones? My last Jim Bowie the paint all peeled off
I really don’t know, but that’s a great question for those who own one. How’s the paint job holding up for you all?
On website says, "Limited to stock on hand". Has COVID-19 shut their manufacturing down?
I'm not sure on that Jay. You could probably find out by giving them a call, but I'm not aware of the reasoning behind it.
