Jessica Reyes. Yes the tiredness is the most difficult side effect of chemo. I tried to take one small walk around the block every day just to get outside… And I felt better for it even though I was tired. I found that the longer I laid in bed, the more depressed I felt. So I would force myself to get up, get a shower and get dressed. Make sure you are taking some good multivitamins, and B complex to help with energy. The menopause does suck, and I went through that as well. I use a natural Phytoestrogen cream from the natural grocery store. It has no hormones. And it helps with the hot flashes. As for the infusions, I had a Doctor Who made them a very slow drip so it took me about eight hours to complete one infusion. But it was well worth it because my body tolerated it better. Take good care of yourself during this time… I tried to get massages often and having that to look forward to helped. Lastly, avoid people who don’t make you feel better. There are trolls out there who just want all the gory details. Learn to avoid them and learn who you can really turn to, someone who will love and support you. All the best to you my friend

Phytoestrogen sounds like it imitates estrogen plant based, my oncologist warned me about this.

Thanks so much for this video, Dee. I was diagnosed with breast cancer July 2022 and have been in a fog not believing it because breast cancer doesn't run in my family. I've been nervous about taking radiation treatments believing that I would lose my hair ( I discovered later since it's just the breast receiving radiation, there won't be any hair loss --that was a relief!). Thank you again for your video; now I know what to expect.

My skin got red, darken and sore after the 3rd week of radiation. The nipple and under arm area of my skin cracked. It looks like about to bleed. I couldn’t sleep at night when my clothes touch my skin it hurt so bad. I reported to my Dr and he prescribed me SSD 1% silver sulfadiazine cream which is for 2nd and 3rd degree burn. I now much better and continue my 4th week of radiation. Without this cream I couldn’t continue my treatment.

Jessica Reyes Hello...I am a cancer survivor who went through chemo. Mine was ovarian. I remember so well the day I had my head shaved. It was traumatic....I so understand how you feel. But when you are done with chemo, your hair should come in very nicely. I loved how thick and curly mine came in. You may feel alone , but there are a lot of us survivors out here! You can do this!

I had 37 radiation treatments when I had breast cancer the 1st time (1993). I remember having to hold perfectly still when they were doing the simulation. It was shortly after my lumpectomies (both breasts - cancer only in left) and I remember my arms being so painful and when the simulation was over, my friend who came with me actually had to help me lower my arms and massage them. I was recently diagnosed a 2nd time and had a double mastectomy on February 10th. Now waiting for my oncologist appointment to see what the next step will be. I know that the left side cannot be radiated again, so I believe I will be looking at chemo. Your videos have been so educational and helpful to me.

So yes this helps. If you are starting rads I highly suggest this video and any preplanning meeting videos that talk about how they mark you up in prep for rads....It is sometimes helpful for some to see and know things ahead of time....

Found this video really good on understanding what happens. As my mum starts this on Monday she's got to have 2 sessions a week for 3 weeks then she then has to wait 9 weeks I think they said so they can do a test to see if it's worked or not then we will be giving a time line. As she can't have a operation to move her cancer as her body wouldn't be able to cope with it. She's got cancer in the top end of her stomach near her sarcophagus it's not in her lymph node. Just showed this to my mum so she knows what to expect when she goes.

This is truly an excellent video, so well done. Exactly what I went through in Germany.
I've just finished 16 sessions after mastectomy. I'm 74, by God's grace, I don't have unbearable burns or pain now. I'm from India so the burn is very dark.
I seem to have been left with a "small breast ", I guess that's scar tissue?
I've been doing exercises at home. My 86 year old husband is on dialysis and I do not want to be travelling for physio.
I'd be grateful if you can explain scar tissue please.
    Renu Roy from Germany.

Your hair is incredible! I hope that you are cancer free. I was just diagnosed with moderate differential invasive Cancer of the Left breast. I want to have a double mastectomy. A pathology report from 20yrs ago found ATIPICAL DUCTAL HYPERPLASIA in both breasts. Path report from a breast reduction. I've had normal mammograms. Then I become 65yrs, then happy birthday you have cancer.

Anyway, like I mentioned on your Instagram, I just received Rads again, now that my Breast Cancer has metastasized. The first time I did Rads, 8 yrs ago, was more like yours. I don't think I had to do the block on the chest, breath holding thing. This might be because of the location of my tumors. I also only had one arm up, because I had a frozen shoulder with the other arm. And because of this, they told me that I may have problems with my jaw and teeth, because they couldn't get around that area. And yes, within about 15 months, my teeth began to decay quickly and fall out. My dentist said that it was obvious it was mostly from the Radiation therapy. But as for the side effects, and how my skin reacted, it was very similar to yours. However, my Rads Therapy this time, was very different. First off,the main reason I had it was for pain management. Plus, I had it on 2 different types of Rads Machine. One was for my left chest wall tumor, and the other was to my lymph nodes, under my right arm. I started my first 5 treatments only on my Chest wall tumor. Again, it was like yours, without the block on the chest, breath holding thing, and I couldn't actually see the beams. They also made a cast type of mold of how my back is, with my arms positioned in it. I would lay on this, for them to know how I was supposed to be positioned, for both types of radiation. And they had a cold slippery clear rubbery thing, called a bollis, laying on top of my chest wall. I think this helps with the positioning too. Plus, I didn't hear any types of beeps, just loud clickity, clackity, noises that went in a circle around my body, and stopped like 6 times. The actual treatments took longer too. I was in the machine for about 25 mins, not including the setting up and cat-scan. And with this type of radiation, my side effects were also like yours, but I did have internal pain during the treatments, during my last half. And my skin did burn really bad, and did blister to the point where there was puss come out, and bled. However, that did not occur with the radiation therapy to my nodes under my arm. This treatment was only for 7 sessions, in the middle of my treatment. So for 7 sessions, I would go to one room, do the set up, do the cat-scan, do treatment, then put my robe back on, and wait till the other room was available, then go to do the other Rads treatment. As I said before, the Rads to my nodes, did not take as long. It also was quicker for setting up, and barely caused my skin to turn red. However, it was not till I had 3 treatments to my nodes that I had a re-accordance of really bad, and painful lymphodema to my left arm. I don't remember it being this painful, during any of my other occurrences. And I had not had any lymphodema for almost 2 yr yrs. So this was really disappointing. We were actually thinking it might have been a blood clot, which I had an ultrasound to rule out. After all of that, I am not too sure that the pain was much less on my chest wall. But my underarm is much better. Plus, it did shrink the chest wall tumor too. Which was something that we didn't expect. So all is all, I am glad I did it. If anyone is interested, click my name and go to my channel, if you want to see my video of my Radiation experiences. Thank you so much for this video, Dee. It was very informative!

if you only had slight burn like sun burn you were very fortunate. My mother had third degree burns that cracked and bleed. She was very sorry she agreed to radiation. The side effects also include posisibilty of other cancers like leukemia because you are exposed to so much radiation, along with damage to your heart and lungs if its breast cancer(or throat ). i am amazed that its still used as "therapy" because it doens't cure anything but people believe that because thats what doctors tell them.

Minerva it’s not about “curing”. And I still have the scars from the burn but I never bled because I didn’t use any products containing metals for 8 months before radiation.
