I remember the RSV in the early 60s in the American Lutheran church. Ten years later, they merged with the Lutheran Church in America and became the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I was a kid, but it seemed like it just changed the thees and thous to you and your. Soon after that, we switched to a Wisconsin Synod Church so I could attend the parochial school there. They used the King James Version exclusively in Bible history, memorization, Catechism classes, and preaching. The Lutheran service was vastly different back then. It was changed in 1975 and became identical to a Catholic mass. Someone told me the Lutherans met at a conference and decided to change it? I don’t know. But the Ecumenical and the Charismatic Movements were both popular then. The ELCA church decided to ordain gay ministers. There was a big split over doctrine. Because of this, the North American Lutheran Church was formed. I believe all the Lutheran churches are using the NIV now. They also have The Lutheran Study Bible out which has footnotes and comments by Martin Luther. The Catholics have a Bible called the Didache Bible that users footnotes and references from the Catholic Catechism.
