I destroyed my new Bible | Cambridge Wide Margin

Dear Pastor Chad, here is a letter you didn't ask for. 😅 I've commented on a lot of your videos, and even shared this sentiment before, but I want to say it again. I love your channel and I love the content that you make. I even watch the content that is technically none of my business because I'm not a pastor. Your personality feels like kinship and your preaching or talking about anything really , nerding out, and sharing your revelations or fascinations. Truly comforts me and disciples me in a lot ways. I know I have a call to ministry. I'm 30 crawling out the wilderness still. I am in the Methodist church up here in Ohio, my pastor and congregation sounds very similar, small towns, and very much feeling the strangeness and change lately. I also believe we are all in a revival and have been for several years. There's an amazing, supernatural surge of millennials and younger generations ditching everything and turning to Christ. 11 years ago I supernaturally converted and I was an odd one out and a black sheep . Now I am still a weird sheep but I'm not an odd one out, especially when looking at the bigger picture. 10 years ago you could never see 20 somethings overloading the interwebs with testimonies or admitting how lost they are in the comment sections. Celebrities are also different, that's another story obviously, but it's worth noticing that people of high status or obtained their fame more recently have opted to turn to faith, and speak openly about how hard it was for them to even acknowledge that... I believe our revival happened because people around the ages 18-35 realized the world isn't for us but that it also wasn't just because of the older generation either... I think people are searching for more. I think people are seeking ways to do more with the more, too. The longing and unsettled feeling sadness that something is very wrong is the brokenness and we're finally entering a time where it's not automatically labeled as clinical depression or telling us that we just need to make more money. My generation in particular is no longer accepting the crap, but are seeking out More. Chronically online folks are searching for more. I actually think it might be the universal crisis of faith that has woken people up to the existence and corruption of the algorithms. And with that I believe people are being called to action but don't know what they're being called for or to. Personally I still believe that my call to ministry is a promise and everyday is a step towards keeping my promise with God, but the world out here is directly against that. Channels like yours are edifying. The content that is being created by such creative and sound pastors like you, frankly, more importantly than ever, but few and far between. The call to faith and call to ministry is so abundant right now but most of the people don't know anything about their calling (myself included really). I only have the revelations from the Holy Spirit, the internet, and a strong conviction most days, leading me to whatever this revival is. Maybe you have been picking up on that sense too about the youth and the changing. Something that I don't speak of often is that I have a strange vision of Home Church. I think it is because The Church is changing.. we need community and to keep the church alive, and I dare say that the same people that are turning to faith probably have church hurt and trauma that is preventing them from feeding into physical churches; I think that might be why social media has become a meeting place like this. I don't believe that we are supposed to live in seclusion or separated through distance and interacting over technology, but maybe we have entered a new phase of revival where the limbo stage is creating community and discipling like this. The thing that truly brought me back to Christ was the Holy Spirit giving me a whoopin and showed me other ministry related channels. I can't say that I even purposely find myself seeking for community online in comment sections and forming new connections this way but I reckon the Holy Spirit will use every resource and TH-cam is not exempt. I know a lot of that is rambling and convoluted. When I used to give practice sermons, they were a lot like that too. Seasons change but people don't, lol. So glad we got to see you today, especially so close to Christmas. Thank you so much for your channel, your sharing and also your willingness to be open. Thank you for even answering the call to make this video because I can tell it was some type of revelation itself. I can't wait to see what you do this year. 🫶✨

I am a lifelong musician and I love so many genres and even types of instruments. Lately I find myself not listening to music in my quiet time and devotional time. I think sometimes I pay too much attention to the music and have been leaving it out of these activities. However, sounds of the early morning are very helpful for me quiet/devotional time. Typically I will go outside on my back porch to listen to the early morning sounds. When that’s not possible, I will listen to ambience of the same or even sometimes the background sounds available on iOS.

Personally I like the ESV, even though I agree it does skew complementarian. As far as I know, the verses most commonly cited as being too "complementarian" are Gen 3:16, Rom 16:1, and Rom 16:7. However, I think as long as one is aware of these verses, then one can still read the ESV very profitably; the ESV is still a very good translation. No need to throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak! 😊

If you have seen the Zondervan double column wide-margin, how does it compare to the Turkey buzzard? I think I might not love how narrow the columns are in the Zondervan. But, I prefer a floppy bible because I read with it on my lap.

I've not seen that one. The margins in Cambridge/Turkey Buzzard are 1.5 inches on the outside and almost 1 on the inside. I've had wider margin bibles before and I don't feel constricted. I am a musician. Nothing happens for me unless music is soundtracking my entire life. I go back and forth with genres, I still listen to secular music (oh, which is so controversial for me where i come from lol) and I really enjoy long worship sessions on TH-cam. My brain subconsciously starts learning the routine and rhythm and similarly to you, soon starts syncing to my internal clicker. A fun subconscious alarm clock timer. Thank you for these recommendations! I'm def going to check these out. I love your dog, can he give us a sermon? My dog Tucker has extreme anxiety but ive raised him from 6 weeks with music all his days so he listens to music, has his own preferences and I play things for him when I'm away from home more than an hour or two. I have other strange "traditions" for my study time specifically, but I'm a candle person. For many years I have a candle goin on my desk the entire time I sit there, or feels strange lol. It's not so much a "ritual" (I dont like using terms that could be misconstrued to seem new agey and crafty but, you get the idea). I have ADHD, the Lord has blessed me with such a phenomenon in my brain where I can process things at high speeds yet comprehend nothing but TV static for days on end 😅 I like to think its some sort of gift instead of a disability lol) so my routines and rituals I implement in order to keep in touch and not wander off midday, they are critical to me. And something about a candle, sometimes a nice fragrance, preparing my space for the day and staying consistent with these little things, helps me to focus and also zero in on God and what he has to say today. I go through candles like crazy, i have a little fun with collecting incense from travels and local artisans.. I don't know if theres others like me out there but I hope so lol.

That doesn't make the bible wrong. And making a bible that fits all of your political view points doesnt make that bible correct either. We can't let culture dictate the bible. I mean you can, but what you want and what you think really doesn't matter. God ultimately has the final word, and somehow, i feel like when you finally have the option to discuss this with him , it's not really going to be up for debate.
