As with every video, I forgot to mention so much (like killing off Rience so soon for example). But that's how it goes I guess. Let me know what you think about this season if you even had the strenght to watch it.
I don't know what drugs was the author on when he sold it to netflix and not to HBO. HBO is woke but netflix is a breeding ground of talent less incompetent woke AF people.
It's a shame that the part with ciri in the desert is the boring part of the show. That was one of the most interesting parts of the books, and an integral part of ciri's development. Another example of the show writers not knowing what they're doing.
perhaps that worked well in the book, but didn't translate well to the tv - because of how its character driven vs. something that could be hmm "show don't tell" on the screen.
Reminds me of Jesus in the desert. The show even copies the Bible by bringing back Ciri's mom to be evil, acting as the devil. It's lazy writing. The only time we see geralt fight in a WAR is at the very end of the show.
Netflix' Ciri's now an adult supergirl. She has nothing to develop except for maybe a couple of romantic things. I don't know what they've shown in the series about the desert part but I simply can't imagine what could make her have any fears or regrets at that point in the show.
It's amazing to me that our very old, very low budged polish show for The Witcher is still better than expensive netflix one. And the dragon we had looked like a rubber duck.
i watched that years ago with subtitles and found it again the other week and binge watched it. It was much more fun than this Netflix abomination (and more recognisable).
yeah just started watching Alzur's Legacy (I'm like 20 minutes in), and despite having a much smaller budget than Netflix, they captured the essence of The Witcher far better than Netflix's "adaptation"
@@franciszaldivar337 you're talking about a completely different show mate, I'm not even sure if Alzur's Legacy was made by polish people to begin with. The one I was talking about was a miniseries made back in 2002 and the title was translated as "The Hexer"
Have you noticed how they want to make women look strong and powerful, and everytime they do it just looks like a woman emotionally out of control and screming like a 6 year old girl throwing a tantrum? Shows you their emotional maturity. To be fair they do the same crap with men. Just compare the presence of Tarkin in Star Wars to Hux screaming his hilarious speech in Force Awakens. These people are all immature children and have no idea what leadership, charisma, authority etc even look like.
One of my favorite fight scenes in the books was when Ciri wearing ice skates fights all the bounty hunters in the fog on the frozen lake. It was a beautiful piece of writting. I was hoping to see it on tv but I think this show is over for good.
Man I can legit feel your pain while watching these videos and as a fan of the books and the games I can completely relate. I quit the series after the first season, since it was already obvious what direction they are taking and I thank those like you who have put out the effort to stick around and roast the show with direct comparisons with the books or the games. Thank you (for your sacrifice)! ^^
This is what I don't get as a book fan. I quit after Season 1. I don't understand how people keep watching but admittedly I watch these little clips saying how bad it is
@@ImTheWarlock64 And season one was the best of all of the series... The writing is so bad in season 3 I was wondering if I wrote better stuff for school assignments when I was 11. I probably did. Heck, any 11 year old would not have trouble outdoing it.
I agree with everything you said. In addition I didn't like the fact that Yarpen Zigrin and Jaskier are used mostly as a comic relieve. Ihuarraquax, Margarita, Mistle, Milva and so many others seems really different from the books.
Yennefer must start the lodge because she's the girl boss. The show is about her upending the status quo and Ciri being the Patriarchy Slayer of Destiny, finding the power within herself or some such nonsense that should give Sapkowski indigestion.
@@thezerowulf2046 "integrity" is what people are very fast to cling to when they have nothing else to offer 🙂 I really don't care what the author does at this point. He already wrote many fun books. He is not hurting me at all by saying he likes Cavil as the Witcher (which btw was all he said, he did not talk about the writing that much). Maybe because I realize that this is all entertainment, and don't make a religion out of it? Or you know, appreciate the art without an unhealthy focus on the artist who made it?
Legit Yen starting the Lodge goes against her whole character. Once again they keep ruining her by wanting to make her the central piece of the story because to them it is just an impossible thought that a series called "The Witcher" has its focus on the titular Witcher (and on Ciri to a larger extent from this point onwards). They keep making Yen bad for Ciri. The whole mother-daughter bond feels so forced in the show because they have rushed Yen's and Ciri's relationship so badly and not given us even close to enough reasons why Ciri would think of her as a mother. Now with her establishing the Lodge it will make their future even weirder (and here I thought it wouldn't be able to become so). It also completely undermines Philippa's character. By them constantly wanting to make Yennefer the center of everything they keep taking away from other characters. First it was Vilgefortz with them making Yen the hero of Sodden. Now it is Philippa with taking the Lodge away from her 🤦🏻♂️ And speaking of Lodge, where the hell is Sile in the show? I hope they aren't just giving her place to Yen in the Lodge but it doesn't look good. God what a shitshow, and even that feels generous
I wanted what was promised. I didn’t get it. I’m dropping the services. Constantly and non stop has she stated that she wanted to “STAY TRUE TO THE BOOKS” From the beginning, middle and bitter end of this all she preached WAS “true to books.” To the people who like to say “I like it, get over it.” To each their own. It’s like ordering food. You expect to get what you ordered; What was promised in the menu. Instead of beef in that burrito, they gave you squid and told you to get over it; Squid is more healthy. While others enjoy their squid, I’m going to just stick to what I enjoy. And, frankly, I’m allergic to shellfish.
Side comment: In the “Dear friend,” letters, Yennefer writes to him like that as she sees Geralt as more than a friend- However, in one of the letters, Geralt titles it “dear friend” which irks Yennefer- So every letter AFTER that she starts using “dear friend” to be spiteful. In the show, however, she’s begging for Geralt’s attention over something that never should of happened.
I already dread on how they will change the Rats into this misunderstood Robin Hood types fighting the system instead of what they really are, especially Mistle
So glad youtube randomly recommend this channel. I can't put into words how frustrating it was to see tons of media and game reviewers saying that season 2 was better then 1. Nice to hear from a proper book nerd.
Im jealous you are visiting Poland. I was there in June. I didnt watch the final episodes as I refuse to give Netflix one extra view. I hope that Netflix goes broke and that the showrunners of this series never get another chance to make anything ever again.
The truth is the books starts with Geralt being mindless killer. He provokes a fight and kills dudes just to make an impression. But it was the first short story and Sapkowski didnt have a clear concept of the character.
@@model84 it may have got retconned later, he started the series as a bunch of unrelated stories about monster killers with barely any characterisation. Some things were obviously changed for the publishing
I mean it doesn't really look good for Season 4 at the moment, I hope, and it seems more and more probably, that they just cancel it. Like that, stuff like killing Rience already won't matter, they won't reach his iconic death anyway, the show will end at latest after Season 4, if not before Season 4. Also I heard that his death made absolutely no sense in the show, with Geralt hunting him down after already having the chance to kill him. Anyway, I just hope at some point we will get a better / faithful adaptation, but I guess that's not gonna happen for a long time, because I doubt Netflix will sell the rights to the franchise again. Until then, I'm off to read the books again. Have fun in Poland on your Larp event!
I'm so happy that there won't be a continuation at this point because whenever I stopped watching The Witcher after season 1, it was also the time when I started to think about how they would butcher Leo Bonhart storyline (which I assume would be included in season 4/5)
11:11 Wait... they made YENNEFER start the lodge?! (I've only watched reviews because I refuse to give this sh*t show more views and this is the first I've heard this part.) It was PHILLIPA that started it and she deliberately states both in the books and games that Yen was never a member of it. Ffs every time I hear something else that the show screwed up it makes me want to tear my hair out. I'm not even finished with the books yet and this shite drives me nuts. (I've read up to Time of Contempt.) I noticed you used a clip of Dan Vasc singing Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. He's honestly a pretty cool guy.
Nice to see somebody doing czech folklore. Greetings from Dresden, where i learned Czech in like 3rd grade😂 And good that you get some attention through the Witcher analyses. Keep going🫶
.....I can only agree with you and your view on things. I am reading the books for the 3rd time atm. and man, you get a whole different feeling of Geralt and all the other characters AND the whole witcher universe. I really miss several of the Geralt and Dandelion story time again....like with the Doppler in Novigrad and the Mermaid-story....I hope they cancel this show now...and I hope that someday we will see a Witcher-tv-series that just follow the books and the story you find there and with a Director and writers that respect a famous author's books and more respect for the fantasy genre!
I like the part when Lauren told us that Henry would get a proper send off, one he deserves. It was so subtle, I must have missed it. All in all, Episode 7 is definitely my least favourite of the whole season, it was awful to watch.
I felt like some scenes reminded me of the books, but I don't remember them that well, so it's great to have this video to show me all the things I forgot.
Also, according to this show, Mistle is also a portal traveller. She can be at Korath one day, and next week she's at Gors Velen, around central regions of the Northern Kingdoms in Temerian soil. She then can turn back just like that. Why would she even be there ffs!
Well we know why haha :) they wanted to introduce the character earlier to hint at the...love affair, introducing...romantic tension haha :)...of course they forget that in the books it was far more...creepy vibe, 'stockhold syndrome' relationship :). But the show completely butchers the worldbuilding and so I would be surprised that they inserted her just because without thinking :) after all geogaphy of this fictional world is non-existant and the writers must be just that stupid :). And that the Rats gang are roaming far in the south in the territories conquered by Nilfgaard within the empire's province...such facts as lore and logic of the story don't stop the brave netflix hack writers :).
@@fantasywind3923 It was rape. Mistle saves Ciri from rape but then rapes her herself, and only reason why Ciri doesn't react to was that the alternative was much more violent and she basically assumes the alias of Falka and becomes attached to her abusive gang. Ciri also attempts to have sex with a dying man but they'll never show that side of her in this show becaus wit wouldn't be woman empowerment
I haven’t watched it since I gave up in the middle of season 2 but damn. They’ve fucked it up even worse somehow. Their casting of Margarita really rubbed me the wrong way along with Fringilla but when I saw Milva, my blood boiled. They could actually still have gone with a diversity hire but that woman looks nothing like Milva should. She’s supposed to have a braid for fuck’s sake, that’s her most important feature. I dread when they have to introduce Regis and ruin Geralt’s company which made me love the books so much in the first place. I agree that the show should be cancelled as soon as possible. Maybe we should make a petition or something. Dandelion and Geralt are like riding in the back while Ciri and Yennefer drive the whole show, yet they should be just as important and Geralt should be the main focus. I also don’t understand their insistence on making new monsters, there are already so many diverse and interesting monsters in the books and games already yet somehow they aren’t good enough. Honestly, all your criticisms and comments are spot on. You got yourself a sub.
I wanted to the see the first chapter of Blood of Elves on screen. Jaskier's performance at the great oak and Rience's interrogation of him. The show runner is damn fool.
Thanks Melitele I've never watched the 3rd season... I've watched Season 2 when it came out, and it was SO boring that I've basically slept trough half of it and then I thought "Meh, The Witcher is soo bad, how is it that there're people out there who loves this thing?" (At that point I've never played the games, or read the books) Then I've gave the games a chance and played Witcher 3, and I loved it, so different than the trash I was introduced by Netflix. Now i'm playing Witcher 2, and eventually I'll read the books.
Glad to hear that you've found a way to the light eventually 😁Make sure you'll play The Witcher 1 as well or at least watch let's play of it (my favourite one is by ChristopherOdd: th-cam.com/video/APK1jfwEVwE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SCG5-WaP4W6sFvCV ). The game is very underrated. It's my favourite from the series because of the atmosphere which is closest to the books.
I would appreciate the longer in-depth analysis of the Season 3 later down the line once you have time. Would be a waste to use all that time to watch Season 3 to not use it in a way that could be entertaining to people, contrary of Season 3.
Yeah, I think that this off-the-cuff style isn't very constructive anyway but I wanted to talk about it while it's being discussed on TH-cam by everybody at the moment.
That bağlama thing is very common in Turkish folk as well. Originally comes from what Turkic peoples of old call kopuz. A two stringed rhytmic instrument that's much more rhytm based than bağlama versions. Baglama, or bağlama basically means ''Tied up'' in Turkish. Albanians have their version, Bosnians, Polish etc. Turkish bağlamas became more and more melody and scale oriented thanks to Arif sağ. Old traditional ones are usually with three or twi strings still
In season 1 they showed Nilfgard has magical capability to use magic and blood to locate Ciri - anyone in the writing room remembered? Any consequences? XD
the bit where yennefer gave no shit about ciri taking off and doesnt even react made me so angry. makes her repeatedly calling ciri her daughter and that she loves her just hollow and cringe inducing
I would loathe ciri too....ciri is special because writer wanted her to be...she did absolutely nothing to be special....and everyone is just after her.....yennefer is way more powerful character than her...she went through alot to become who she is....I wouldn't mind if everyone was obsessed with her...what did ciri do? Beside being born? Geralt bends so many rules just for her...I was game video, and both yennfer and gerlat do alot of terrible things because...well to find ciri...😑 also, her fight sequences make me puke
@@user-ev4lq5fr1o I think part of the reason is because nothing feels earned. In the books, she literally gets put through the meat grinder from the very start. there is difficulty at every stage. she struggles with magic, with learning to fight and just plain existing. always unlucky. you see her overcome those troubles, you see her adapting to her sorroundings, partly why most people can sort of tollerate her actions during her time with the rats. this netflix ciri is was a superhero from teh get-go. she learns magic over a 2 min montage. can fight just like geralt. makes decisions that are superficially ideal. not what a person living in such a brutal world would do. its bery difficult to root for this ciri. with yen, i think her character has no redeeming quality. she was a badass in the books because her magical power was never a question. there was no need for people to repeatedly say it (ahh i cringe at the thought). also her character was one of conviction. she was ruthless and once she made a decision she accepted the consequences. there was no second guessing. the nexflix yen seems like a newly formed teenage sorceress who is just coming to realise how powerful she is. we get no sense of the true age of her. she's only supposed to look young not act one. rant over haha
I still can't believe Netflix has Henry Cavill as the Witcher and they fumbled the bag! it's so crazy. This is right up there with Game of Throne Season 7 and 8 fumbling
0:20 My God, wow. Can someone tell me how these larpers look exactly like a Nilfgardian Regiment, at least as they were portrayed in the games, and what budget did it take them to get their costumes so spot on, compared to the wrinkled ball sacks they had for armours in Witcher season 1 and with their millions of budget ?
just a fact: baglama lute is a traditional turkish instrument which was brought to eastern europe by the turks with the ottoman expansion. it is the descendant of "komuz". and the word baglama loosley means "the tied" in turkish.
I wish the writers humbled themselves and watched your criticism giving it time and thought. But alas, I fear they would call you a hater and block you on twitter.
Poor Professor :) being demoted from a fair level threat to just an opening episode fight to be done with haha (not to mention he wasn't even fighting damn) of course the biggest problem is how they removed any sense from the storyline, because Professor and his assassins are only known to pursue Yennefer and Ciri when Geralt learns this from Codringher and Fenn as they worked behind the scenes to gather information and learned in the underworld circles that these infamous assassins got hired...so this information on who was directly on the tail of Yennefer travelling to Thanedd was important narrative moment! Supposedly Professor and his companions were much better among the hired assassins, better than the Michelet brothers (this fight was something I was waiting for...but then the season 2 turned out to be crap fanfic instead of actual adaptation of Blood of Elves sooo....) there are HUGE screw ups of the narrative continuity of the story....in any case whatever 'book accurate' moments, or simply put moments from book transplanted here in different context...they are just adornments when the entire major plot is completely changed such little moemnts are nothing but too little, too late! This show was doomed for a while but hell....the fanfictiony elements that the writers invented hang over this and make things worse. The castle and hideous monsters of girl's bodies...as stupid as they were...reminded me more of the mutants at the sorcerer castle of Rissberg from Season of Storms haha, but what was the purpose of those experiments in the show?! I mean seriously, they seemed to serve no point...a few monsters and hanging heads in the wall?! Hell in the books we know that the horrible practices and experiments that Vilgefortz was performing on girls, were more surgical experimentation on removing the fetuses something which Vilgefortz perfected for his plans to extract the Elder Blood from Ciri impregnated. It seems like the show just neede another action scene than anything else or actual content to explore. The geography and geopoltiics (and so the political plots and intrigues...my goodness the script writers are AWFUL at writing those) don't exist in this show seriously...they SUCK at worldbuilding!!!!!!!
Very good summary - I absolutely agree. And in fact, many of the things you say (Michelet brothers, professor), I have said myself in various discussions.
Because someone in Netflix thought they can come up with monster more frighting than "what if arthropod so big your fear of it would be justified" Monster desing in this show is microcosmos of flawed tought proces behind this show.
The part that pissed me off the most that no one's talked about is how they shamelessly ripped off "Carrie" in the scene with Francessca during the attack.
I think that nowdays, woke writers want to tell a message using an already full of messages series of books. They do this because it's easier to create a bad writing with a pre-made political message than to develop your own political problem in a fantasy world. I mean, Elves and dwarves were pretty racist against each other, but they prefer to create conflict between the watcher and the cast instead of conveying the message seamlessly in the storytelling. The problem is that they are trying to pass activists off as writers, directors, producers, and actors.
No they just know that no one give a crap about their retarded message so they use things that intersting to others as cover for their message. LikeOH LOOK XXX ADULT WET SEXY GIRLS ------ and inside there is a lecture about how humans digestive system produces shit and urine.
@@JohnnyDetroit tbh i dont get why you guys are so offended by the show. sure, i never read the books and i never played the games. but i liked the show. mostly because of geralt but the show is not nearly as bad as you guys make it out to be. i tried to watch the polish witcher movie but i couldnt. the acting was too bad. i dont mean to offend anyone but the truth is...many european (as a whole) movies are bad because europeans are just bad at acting. i dont know why, but americans are just better at acting. there are only a handful of good european movies. and dont get me started on german movies, they are even worse....and i am austrian. you guys have to look at it this way: if netflix makes an adaption they will americanize the product. its not vandalism, its just americanization. it will not destroy the books or the games. its a decent show. i will read start reading the books next. i hope i will enjoy them,
@@DanielRumbacher Witcher fans are disappointed because it's a cheap CW ish woke overly feminist parody of the story. I recommend reading the story and you may see things from a different perspective.
2:48 There were quite some references to 70’s - 80’s horror classics in this season that just didn’t fit (even though I adore the film themselves). This scene to me was a big nod to Carpenters The Thing, the head and the limb creature. Also when Francesca get’s covered in blood (you’ll know the scene when you see it), there’s a big nod to de Palma’s Carrie.
Great video again! I agree with the points you made, they were quite accurate. I thought after season 2 that it would be impossible for Netflix to destroy the Witcher even more, but they proved me wrong with season 3, because this season they actually took events from the books, but ruined all of them, I can't think of one accurate scene that had the same impact as it did in the books, mainly I was very disappointed with the Ciri in desert part, because in the books it was simply great, a masterpiece of writing in my opinion, and in the show they just added and changed certain things that made it almost cringe to watch. Unfortunately they also ruined already a great future scene, one of my favourites of the books, where Ciri ambushes Bonhart and Skellen's gang on the ice, this scene is already ruined now because Netflix decided to kill Rience of already, in the books Ciri uses ice skates to slice of his fingers, causing him to drown, after mocking him. Also, one change that I really didn't like is the scene in the bar with the Rats, where they make Ciri fight the man that was part of the group that captured her in the desert, in the books Ciri doesn't kill him, she dodges all his attacks but refuses to kill him, her first kill was almost an accident, more of a reflex, when she was escaping the town with the Rats, they even mocked her for refusing to kill a few people, tho this changes after the first kill but that is not my point. One thing more, maybe people won't agree here, but I'm tired of Yennefer in the show, she gets too much screentime and it adds nothing to the story, I wasn't surprised that Netflix refused to follow the books, aka, making Yennefer disappear from Thanedd coup until chapter 6 in Baptism of Fire, and from that point on she is almost not in the books at all. I think if they at least made Yennefer accurate to the books, I probably wouldn't mind it that much. Edit: Enjoy your trip Poland! :D
Z přízvuku slyším že jsi čech, tak jen takhle utajeně :) : skvělej rozbor, ušetřil jsi mi čas se sledováním 3.série, to si raději konečně přečtu Husitskou trilogii.
Great, I enjoyed it a lot although that was mainly because we created good atmosphere in our little Czech camp. But I enjoyed the fighting in skirmishes and the final battle as well.
I’ve read the books and my friend hasn’t. He’s enjoying the show and I’m not. What gets my goat with these big companies, is how they claim the series are “based” on the books and the best you get, may be, a passing resemblance of the main characters and one or two chapters. It’s almost criminal.
Also Yen starting the lodge makes NO FUCKING SENSE. She was kidnapped to come to the Lodge and left at first instance. She didn't want to join the Lodge. Why would she start it? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS SHOW? You cast Phillipa just make her the Lodge leader and follow the source material. Gods.
Life is pretty depressing and makes me want to throw myself from a cliff when Witcher Larping peps have better costumes then a big budget show. That gear was on point! Seriously awesome!
Seems like half the budget went on drugs. A lot of actors in the series are cocaine addicts. You can tell from oversized nostrills that make them look like pigs.
As someone who hasn't read the books, but played the games, I was over the show by beginning of the second season. I finished the second season only because I was watching it with my wife. Knowing that Henry was sole reason for anything good about the show and that he was leaving was the final nail in the coffin for me. I will not watch the 3rd season ever.
I really like these videos, thanks for making them. I'm at awe how Netflix try to make strong females, and only thing they achive is making despicable characters out of female and male, because how much they ridicule them or try to make them look cool. I had so much respect for character of Yennefer in books her willingnes to rough the feathers of very powerful characters to turn the status quo and being strong pillar to Gerald and Ciri in the end, but this show is just shite. I think it would be much better with simpler concept of making "Beast of the week" type show to slowly introduce the universe and characters and slowly season by season turn it into the grand political series it is in the books. Netflix is terrible at story telling I didn't understand many parts of the series season 1 and I read all the books and played all the games, in the sense that I didn't know where am I on chronological scale as I thought they mix up events constantly. In comparison the Cowboy Bebop series had such a hard criticism around it and as a fan of original I liked it, meanwhile this gets solid praise and in my eyes doesn't capture basic things about the Witcher universe
Yeah, but I think that the event isn't for public. It's a LARP so you need to be registered and I think that it's been full for a while now. We were buying tickets several months ago. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100078383793498
Honestly I wanted to see you describe Vilgefortz and how Netflix ruin his character cause I've been criticizing his character for awhile. Mainly that there was no build up to his character like at all. The only foreshadowing they did was him killing a mage at the end of season 1 and...thats really it. Though I enjoyed the fight between Vilgefortz and Geralt I still felt the fight was too short and Vilgefortz does not come off as a huge threat. They wasted so much time on Stregobor being the twist villain mainly on the basis that he's racist. Lets be honest, Stregobor is just a boring filler character that is only there to yell how much he hates elves because he saw Flake's rebellion, a rebellion that I notice was ruin because they made Falka a good person that wanted what's hers even though she war pretty despicable if you look into the story. He was only interesting in that short story that featured him. So back to evil man with a stick, there was no build up to his character in season 2 where he just...standing against Stregobor and hired Rience nothing else besides that. So to the average viewer, the reveal would feel underwhelming like Rience's death. Vilgefortz had a scene in season 2 where he has a conversation with Stregobor and reveals much of his background but it was deleted for some reason. Rience's death is all over the place simply because it was out of nowhere, confusing, and weak. Like that has to be the most random death that I ever seen even for average viewer, which is funny cause I've seen some non-book readers were very confuse by his death. I found his death very weak narrative-wise since he was build up as an actual threat in season 2 but is immediately killed off as an after thought. Since I didn't read the books, I was curious on how he died in the books and what you know, his death is more interesting in source materiel. Like the dude was ambushed by Ciri on a icy field, If I remember, and then Ciri had the ice that Rience and his men were standing is destroyed which lead to them drowning. Rience is hanging on the ice and is so afraid that he tells Ciri everything and then she uses her skates to cut off his fingers which lead him to drown. Now thats a death worth seeing. Also thank you for bringing up that stupid flesh monster that Geralt fought because I was so confuse on what's he's fighting. Like that monster felt so out of place to the point that I was curious if it was in the books and you confirm that it wasn't. Why would Vilgefortz make experiments like this? Like wasn't his experiments is base around artificial impregnation since he wanted Ciri's power that way? Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the first half of season 3 is really boring. But after watching Blood Origin, I'm not really surprise.
Really well said. Yeah, I wish I would have more time to talk about all the details but I had to really speed run it this time and finished the video at the last minute before I had to leave. Hopefully I can do a better job next time.
After having listened to all of the unabridged audiobooks of The Witcher series then quite some time later saw the first season, I liked the first season. Then came all of the garbage writing lack of adaptation from the books in the second season that I started to "see the writing on the wall", and it went downhill super quickly. Now, I don't even care enough about season 3.
I can forgive them for the flaws of season 1. A show with no female main characters in the first season is never gonna happen in the current culture of western film making. And All the timeline confusion is a direct result of that need to have the girls in every episode. But they needed to actually stick to the book story after that. Not make a terrible fanfic that occasionally steals the names of book characters and places.
Well if they won't cancel show i'm trully scared what are they gonna do with Leo Bonhart (I feel like they gonna butcher one of the most bad ass character in whole series that was like antiwitcher in some way) and Geralt's Hansa (especially Regis because I have a feeling that they may make him generic vampire that must suck blood because he is vampire and in worst case scenario make him Twiglight lvl teen girls wet dream). Also to critique of season 3 one more thing (stolen from other channel material xd ) the fact that they killed Rience in this season means that they deleted one of the coolest scene in series with Ciri and ice skates.....
I'm from Poland and in this country if you are stupid, incompetent, lazy and have absolutely no talent, the only job you can find is cleaning toilets. In the US, you can become a Netflix showrunner or writer. United States, what a beautiful country! :)
Too much "walk up from behind" BS in this show (Geralt/Rience, Yennefer/Ciri, Triss/Lydia, etc). Stregobor's arc is so oddly satisfying. Scooby-doo mystery reveal "It was old-man Stregobor!" culminating in him saving the day by sacrificing himself to tap into fire magic to satisfy his "old man racism". Just shift-delete Fringilla makes this show 50% better. Geralt should have been more brutally beaten by Vilgefortz. Leaving him "dead" on the beach, Ciri disappeared through the portal, and Yennefer missing while chaos engulfs Aretuza would have been the ideal ending to the season. An "Empire Strikes Back" moment. This show just strings scenes from the books together with ridiculous modern writing, destroying context, meaning/themes, characters, and timeframes/geography. Woof.
I'm thankfull to Netflix, because for a third time I started "Wicher" saga :-D That was soooooo hooooorible to watch... I had to read and check, how could they f...ed up such great source material... Thank You for material! :-) Best regards from Poland :-)
So much diversity, amazing. I hope that if Netflix do a series about a gang from a black "hood" they cast a third of east asians and a third of latinos.
Only thing I'm happy about ignoring the books is they are probably going to get rid of the weird rapey themes with Ciri and the Rats and Ciris father. Otherwise ignoring the books ruined this show, which could have been very good. But they screwed that up.
As with every video, I forgot to mention so much (like killing off Rience so soon for example). But that's how it goes I guess. Let me know what you think about this season if you even had the strenght to watch it.
Yeah, Rience's death is much more interesting, in the book.

netflix : the entire witches of the lodge are from wakanda now
It's a shame that the part with ciri in the desert is the boring part of the show. That was one of the most interesting parts of the books, and an integral part of ciri's development. Another example of the show writers not knowing what they're doing.
Ngl I hate that episode with passion
@@shn3340 I did too, and Ciri needs to go back to acting school. She needs a refresher course.
perhaps that worked well in the book, but didn't translate well to the tv - because of how its character driven vs. something that could be hmm "show don't tell" on the screen.
Them trying to suddenly add the Slavic flair by filming in Slovenia and using percival is more insulting than them not doing it.
“Geralt walks off with yaskier and asian milva” HAHAHAH I laughed so hard
It's amazing to me that our very old, very low budged polish show for The Witcher is still better than expensive netflix one. And the dragon we had looked like a rubber duck.
i watched that years ago with subtitles and found it again the other week and binge watched it. It was much more fun than this Netflix abomination (and more recognisable).

Mont Saint Michel was exactly as I imagined it as well. I completely forgot about it, but you mentioning that, triggered my memory.
“This was another missed opportunity.” Netflix motto, 2023.
One of my favorite fight scenes in the books was when Ciri wearing ice skates fights all the bounty hunters in the fog on the frozen lake. It was a beautiful piece of writting. I was hoping to see it on tv but I think this show is over for good.
Well even if they'll get to it it will have to be different since they killed off Rience this season.
@@FolkWalkCZ yeah true, that was the best part, and the way she killed rinece by cutting off his fingers and let him drown was great

This is what I don't get as a book fan. I quit after Season 1. I don't understand how people keep watching but admittedly I watch these little clips saying how bad it is

I really don't care what the author does at this point.
Constantly and non stop has she stated that she wanted to “STAY TRUE TO THE BOOKS” From the beginning, middle and bitter end of this all she preached WAS “true to books.”
To the people who like to say “I like it, get over it.” To each their own.
Side comment:
In the “Dear friend,” letters, Yennefer writes to him like that as she sees Geralt as more than a friend- However, in one of the letters, Geralt titles it “dear friend” which irks Yennefer- So every letter AFTER that she starts using “dear friend” to be spiteful.

They started and ended the season with Geralt being a mindless mass murderer. If it isn't a character assassination, I don't know what is.
The truth is the books starts with Geralt being mindless killer. He provokes a fight and kills dudes just to make an impression. But it was the first short story and Sapkowski didnt have a clear concept of the character.
@@Wiktor_Klugowski in which part? (i've red long time ago)
This show is more inconsistent than GOT8.

11:11 Wait... they made YENNEFER start the lodge?! (I've only watched reviews because I refuse to give this sh*t show more views and this is the first I've heard this part.) It was PHILLIPA that started it and she deliberately states both in the books and games that Yen was never a member of it. (I've read up to Time of Contempt.)
I noticed you used a clip of Dan Vasc singing Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. He's honestly a pretty cool guy.

I like the part when Lauren told us that Henry would get a proper send off, one he deserves. It was so subtle, I must have missed it.
All in all, Episode 7 is definitely my least favourite of the whole season, it was awful to watch.
And dont get me started on the wild hunt scene xD

Aleksander Olszański made a good short animation for Witcher
I wanted to the see the first chapter of Blood of Elves on screen. Jaskier's performance at the great oak and Rience's interrogation of him. The show runner is damn fool.
For real, when I saw Mistle, I took a spit take.
I wanted to see Leo Bonard so badly 😭

Seems our wish is getting fulfilled, seems it is cancelled.
Btw, that LARP stuff... really wish I could get in on that, but I don't speak polish.
Hopefully. I don't either 😃 It's international. I think it's done by the same people who were organizing The Witcher School but I might be wrong.
Thanks Melitele I've never watched the 3rd season... I've watched Season 2 when it came out, and it was SO boring that I've basically slept trough half of it and then I thought "Meh, The Witcher is soo bad, how is it that there're people out there who loves this thing?" (At that point I've never played the games, or read the books)
Then I've gave the games a chance and played Witcher 3, and I loved it, so different than the trash I was introduced by Netflix.

XD
this season had a one huge improvment... Geralt finally wore a leather jacket
the bit where yennefer gave no shit about ciri taking off and doesnt even react made me so angry. makes her repeatedly calling ciri her daughter and that she loves her just hollow and cringe inducing
In the books, she literally gets put through the meat grinder from the very start. there is difficulty at every stage. she struggles with magic, with learning to fight and just plain existing. always unlucky. you see her overcome those troubles, you see her adapting to her sorroundings, partly why most people can sort of tollerate her actions during her time with the rats. this netflix ciri is was a superhero from teh get-go. she learns magic over a 2 min montage. can fight just like geralt. makes decisions that are superficially ideal. not what a person living in such a brutal world would do. its bery difficult to root for this ciri.
with yen, i think her character has no redeeming quality. she was a badass in the books because her magical power was never a question. there was no need for people to repeatedly say it (ahh i cringe at the thought). also her character was one of conviction. she was ruthless and once she made a decision she accepted the consequences. there was no second guessing. the nexflix yen seems like a newly formed teenage sorceress who is just coming to realise how powerful she is. we get no sense of the true age of her. she's only supposed to look young not act one.

just a fact: baglama lute is a traditional turkish instrument which was brought to eastern europe by the turks with the ottoman expansion. it is the descendant of "komuz". and the word baglama loosley means "the tied" in turkish.
Thanks for the info 🙂
I really really hope CDPR learn from Netflix's mistake when they making Witcher 4.

Maan. I just realized something.
It's time for me to read the books again! :D
My first reaction after seeing season 3 was "I need to re-read the books asap so that this cringe would not stick in my memory". Have fun in Poland
Thank you 🙂

Yeah they made a mess of this. They would have done much better simply following the books or the games, this reimagining is thin, very thin.
Amazing material
For shame Netflix.
That aside how was your thing in Poland?

You remember correct!......... greetings from Poland!
spot on, the time of contempt is so great compare to season 3
Hey, will you be in Poland this weekend? Can you post a link to the event here? Where is it going to be?
Yeah, but I think that the event isn't for public. It's a LARP so you need to be registered and I think that it's been full for a while now. We were buying tickets several months ago. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100078383793498
Also the event starts tomorrow (we're going today because we have to get there from Prague and it's better to be early than late).
@@FolkWalkCZ Oh ok. Thanks for the link. I wish you and your friends a nice event. Regards!
@@fafiklata Thanks 🙂
I still can't believe they ruined what could have been a golmine for them and a delight for fans
Hey thanks for the shout out lol
Woof.
IT'S ALMOST HARVESTING SEASON!
i will drink from your skull
I'm thankfull to Netflix, because for a third time I started "Wicher" saga :-D That was soooooo hooooorible to watch... I had to read and check, how could they f...ed up such great source material... Thank You for material! :-) Best regards from Poland :-)
The Witcher Netflix Series was Murdered! This is utterly pain.
Dobrá práce, rozhodně kvalitní video.
Díky 🙂
So much diversity, amazing. I hope that if Netflix do a series about a gang from a black "hood" they cast a third of east asians and a third of latinos.
Disney is making Snow White with tan skin so who knows 🙃🤪
Only thing I'm happy about ignoring the books is they are probably going to get rid of the weird rapey themes with Ciri and the Rats and Ciris father.
Otherwise ignoring the books ruined this show, which could have been very good.
But they screwed that up.
keep exposing netflix's witcher
Netflix's Witcher is so bad you have an urge to escape to Poland.
