- Third person genres have been a popular genre for a long, long time now, and they have only grown in popularity as time has gone on, even bleeding into genres that traditionally did not have much to do with shooters.
Over the years, we’ve been spoiled with some truly excellent games in the genre that we are unlikely to forget about anytime soon, but on the flipside, there are no few legitimately fun and well-made third person shooters that don’t get the sort of recognition that they probably deserve.
Though not perfect, these are games with their own unique strengths that we would love to see attracting a larger audience. Here, we’re going to go over a few such games.

I'm actually playing the Saboteur. Such a hidden gem of a game.
Wish it became a franchise
I have finished this game 3 times
It's amazing
Lucky bastard
El Paso Elsewhere is the Max Payne homage I needed
Needed that discovery
Binary domain is also really good
Loved ME Andromeda(best gameplay of the franchise) and Scarface!! Underrated gems!
El Paso for me is one of the more memorable and fun TPS games I played in recent years
Great, more games to buy and dump into the backlog
Mass Effect: Andromeda was actually a brilliant game for what it was supposed to be. Many people complain it wasn't as great as Mass Effect III. It wasn't supposed to be. It was essentially supposed to be Mass Effect I. What do I mean by that?
Mass Effect was built on the Epic Trilogy Format. Part 1 of the Trilogy is supposed to introduce the main characters and factions, the locations, and the conflict. Part 2 is the escalation of the conflict. Part 3 is the resolution of the conflict and the story. Most people might recognize this as the format of the original Star Wars Trilogy or the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
The original Mass Effect and Andromeda were designed to be part 1's. And both filled that role admirably.
Also, those who complained about the "technical issues"? I was a pre-launch PC Player of Andromeda, and I can say that your issues never popped up for me.
Returnal didn’t sell well because some people hear how difficult it is and pass. I’m one of those people. And Daymare was sooo bad that I’m not wasting money on a sequel. Even if it’s ok.
Keep making videos like this. Helps me decide what to play.
Nice list. I played a handful of these games and they were all a lot of fun.
Better mention stranglehold.
And y’all didn’t mention stranglehold. Of course.
Of course smh…
So Dark Sector is where they got Warframe idea from? Nice
Yes and no. DE's original idea for dark sector was much closer to warframe, but their publisher kept demanding the game be made into the way it was because "Sci-Fi wouldn't sell".
Shadows of the Damned was really fun. I'm hoping the remaster can fix the late-game difficulty spike and some REALLY annoying repetitive sound design issues.
The Saboteur was wonderful. I loved it when it came out and I just bought it when it was released on Steam.
Waiting on that Shadows of the Damned remaster. It’s showing 25$! I hope that sticks. I’ll be double dipping.
I just want Wildlands 2, is that too much to ask from Ubiwoke? Something like Socom or a serious kind of Just Cause.
I played dark sector.
both souls and RE fans should play it.
Dark sector is fantastic i added reshad to get rid of the tint and needs alot of mods now to get it to run properly.
I'm sorry, but Dark Sector straight up sucks. There are other TPS you could've put on this list.
Started good but once you got the glave it was terrible
@@mtnman8783Huh? The glaive is the best part of the game 😂
@@Avoca91 for a super weapon it felt weak and sluggish
Ehhh didn’t suck. Just became boring
Amazing content
Day what you want, I LOVED. Mass Effect Andromeda
Put around 300 hrs in outriders
Seen El Paso Elsewhere in the thumbnail and instantly clicked
Rise to Honor PS2
Vice City Stories was on PS2 too.
Outriders should have been a live service game.
Judgements campaign is great 💯
And Dark Sector gave birth to Warframe too.
No Stranglehold ??? 😑
I played Scarface sooo many hours
Some games mentioned here have aged poorly. I would like to add
1. Inversion (gravity control)
2.wanted weapons of fate(has bullet curve)
Wet and Stranglehold
Definitely agree dark sector was awful. I played it for a little bit had a interesting gimmick but the story and gameplay were terrible. I remember making it to a boss fight or level that was just completely broken and i was done.
Returnal is hard.
Dude mass effect Andromeda was incomplete totally wasnt able to play
it was a damn dark day for mass effect is what it was
I actually prefer Mass Effect Andromeda, the combat, movement were so much better then all of the Mass Effect games.
The actual movement and gunplay was a significant improvement on the earlier games. It's just too bad that literally everything else was worse.. which is especially a problem considering some aspects of the trilogy were already bad, like the puzzles, so those literally went from bad to worse.
Hello boys
❤ Outriders ❤
I play on PS5 and 3rd person shooters are dying out. There ain't much left, like Red Dead 2, Uncharted, and the Tom Clancy's games.
Too bad GB never said any of these games were AMAZING when they first reviewed them, if they even reviewed them at all. They can't seem to keep their story straight.
What do you mean 'You didn't play?' I've played all of it
I love 3rd person games 🎉❤🎉😂😅❤🎉😂
Capcom needs to make a lost planet 3. Its been far too long
There is a lost planet 3
WTF O_o
No max Payne, gta, splinter cell blacklisted, ghost recon Wildlands/breakpoint, saints row😂😂😂 incomplete list
Returnal is cool but to me its missing something and i cant put my finger on it
Bro Gears Of War Judgement is one of the worst prequels ever made.
🔝
Any body knows about this old thidr person shooter for pc story was like russian inavaded some country i forgot the damn name..
Mass effect Andromeda was really bad
All the games you mention are not even near amazing Lol
...Daymare 1994. 🤣🤣🤣
Alot of people played Returnal, like probably most of the ppl that bought a PS5 console.
Its 1 of the few games that truly look next gen.
All in all & after years of being through its life cycle i gotta say overall im disappointed.
