I wouldn't say Ray Leonard is but that other asshol* is assessing and promoting a keys to victory fight plan for Dirrell. He's not doing any thing close to similar for Degeale...
I thought the commentary was bang on. Degale gets lazy. I don't know if its lack of conditioning but walking around with his hands down is just asking to get hit. Whenever he stepped in up, he looked like he had the ability to put doubt in Dirrels mind but he was just content to do nothing in the middle part of the fight
+rob valledy dude this was a close ass fight. I'm from London and slightly more biased towards Degale, but this was definitely close. I had a draw the first time I watched it, watched it repeatedly and got 114-112 for Degale (round 5 was the round I changed). The Judge who had 117-109 is an embarassment
American commentators in ANY sport are not close to being as professional, impartial or articulate as their British counterparts.Anyone watching this vid and thinking Dirrell won was obviously influenced by the ridiculous US bias of the commentary team. A crystal clear win for DeGale.
Actually it is the British who are excessively biased in their commentary; they have all the excuses for a British fighter winning. Degale was very "lucky" to win
dirrell better respect and fear degale cause he dished out an ass whoopin! BTW Britain have 11 world title holders at present, what about you yanks?... American boxing is so shit these days you guys support Mexicans and Russians as if they were your own
Pretty sure Lennox Lewis was the undisputed heavyweight champ for quite a while after Barrera v Hamed so he was a joke then? As we're guys like Joe Calzahge, David Haye, Ricky Hatton, Carl Froch. historically the United States has probably achieved more than any other country in boxing but saying the US sees legitimate world champions from Britain who are proven world class as a joke makes you sound like a clown who doesn't even follow the sport.
Very intelligent fighting from James. He obviously knew he was ahead, and let Andre punch himself out and push him around - sapping his energy. Very clever. I enjoyed that fight.
It's weird, because Andre Dirrell totally outclassed Carl Froch in their fight (although Froch got the "win"). But here, Dirrell got soundly beaten by James DeGale, who lost to George Groves, who in turn was beaten twice by Carl Froch. Styles make fights, I guess..
Excellent fight, my favourite fight of the year so far. Rematch!! I had Dirrell winning by one point, but it was a really tight match, no idea how one card read 117-109 for DeGeale.
watch the fight without sound then you will understand. these commentators are so full of shit in the second half of the fight. i had it 116:110 Degale
Going into the Super6 Dirrell was considered THE man for the USA. Oh and there was some guy with an Olympic gold medal. First round of fights happen and Froch gets a lucky decision against Dirrell where as this guy, Andre Ward, beats Kessler in a decisive fashion. Sure there was a few headbutts in there but Kessler was widely considered #1 and favourite to win the tournament. Fast forward several years later and Ward retires as one of the greatest 168 lbers ever, Dirrell will not even be a foot note.
hahaha 23:09 Dirrell getting destroyed "And Dirrell gets in one of his best punches"... continues to take huge shots... "And as the round comes to an end, Dirrell finishes strong"... What fucking fight are they watching?!
At least Dirrell turned up to fight against DeGale. Against Froch he ran without throwing punches, continuously held on in the clinch, threw himself to the floor at every opportunity, and ducked so low at times that Froch only had the top of his head to punch. Clearly he was afraid of Froch's power.
This may sound crazy but looking back at this fight, this is almost exactly how the Ward-Kovalev fight played out. Early knockdown in the second (2 knockdowns in this fight), and an almost movie-type of rally to bring the fight back. And here this fight could have played out the same way. Dirrell could have gotten the know depending on how the 11th and 12th round was scored or even a draw. In the kovalev-ward fight it could have gone either way or even a draw as well. Two extremely close fights.
Not sound, this is crazy. Ward lost badly and Dirrell not lost at all. Ward has little come back in rounds 5, 7 and 8. But rounds 9-12 is Kovalev come back. DeGale was outbox, he has claim to win this fight, because he hurt and drop Dirrell couple times, but in boxing match, he was outclass. Kovalev never was outbox. Ward did. There is no single round Ward outclass Kovalev. On the other hand Dirrell beating up DeGale in numerous rounds.
"Round 10, another good round for Dirrell" - Really? He falls short with almost every shot he throws, DeGale works him over on the inside and then towards the end of the round, he gets caught mid-combination and staggers into DeGale. Not sure how they missed the left hook that takes Dirrell's legs away. 35:02.
+834373i it actually was a good round for dirrell, he did get caught with 1 punch at 35:05 but it was while he was in the middle of a combination where he lands 4 of 8 punches. degale actually was missing big looping lefts and dirrell was touching him with a lot of punches but not landing with full impact. dirrell lands clean left hook at the end.
fact is he went in over confident and emotional and them are the 2 things u dont want to do against a tough fighter that packs a punch. degale gets away with wreckless movement wild swinging, even when he did land combinations they are not too skillful, but he has this awkward herky jerky movement, dirrell is the more skilled fighter, but u got to fight smart not with emotion, like he did in this fight right from the first rd. in a rematch he beats degale guaranteed. degale had him hurt and didnt finish him and dirrell came back and did good in the latter rds, and he was still on wobbley legs thruout the fight. i want to see a rematch or degale vs anthony. i like degale, that style frustrates guys, almost amatuerish style. but he has it working, so credit to him. big win over bute also.
+rick rich Fucking finally someone speaks some sense, I agree with everything you said, however in this fight I think that as a whole in this fight; Direll definitely outboxed Degale. the knockdowns helped him scrape it. its just that overhand left is so dangerous, its almost Marcos Maidanaish. With the correct gameplan from Direll in a rematch I think the only feasible way Degale beats him is through knockout, the guy was fighting buzzed and was still winning multiple rounds in a row
This version of Chunky could have beaten anybody at 168lbs... too bad that he started getting delusional thinking he was some power puncher like Marvin Hagler. That come forward style he developed after this fight killed his career.
I'm from UK and I had Dirrell winning this. Degale took his foot off the gas after the knockdown as if he had done enough, and Dirrell came back in it for me
Yeah, although i'd say Liam Smith has only lost to two very good fighters. Callum did great against Groves, but there's always going to be that question about if Groves was anywhere near his best after the shoulder injury. I think the next couple of fights will give us a true indication of where Callum is at for sure. Can't knock what he's done, but it just can't be ignored that Groves was never going to be the same after that bad injury.
Good point. I rooted for Groves, but think his tactic wasn't the best. Smith wasn't impressive in the last 2-3 fights, so he thought he could bang with him and was punished. Too bad Groves retired, he has a few big fights in him left. In my opinion he was #1 in super middle, so it only makes sense that Smith took his spot. What I'd like to see is Zurdo sticking around a little more, so they can fight. 175 is already more interesting even without him.
I'm from the UK but what's all this shit about bias commentary? Dirrell is a good boxer and has a good jab. DeGale is dangerous but he needs to throw straight punches. His jab is inaccurate and that's the reason he lost to Groves because Groves has a great long game.
+Hulk Hogan mocking a guy because of his appearance is pretty damn low. So what if he's balding? he's still more alpha male than you'll ever be douchebag
Kenny Rice is an awful commentator so biased towards Dirrel every other guy on the commentary team scored rounds 2 to 6 for Degale and Rice is saying "strong round for Dirrell" at the end of them Degale would bounce a big right hook off Dirrells head and Rice said nice Jab by Dirrell is the guy on drugs? I thought it was very close but Degale just edged it he needs to stop having so many lazy spells in fights.
It is not that the commentators are inherently biased - They are being paid to sell a product. The fighter. Think about it. They are being paid to say what they are saying. Not being paid to be impartial but being paid to sell. Think deeper, everyone. Think more.
Dirrell is a perfect example that just because you can fight left handed don't mean you can fight a left hander. He throwing orthodox counters at a lefty
It’s always the same with these extreme biased american commentators! Always rooting for their fellow countryman. It’s sickening and deplorable. Bad sportsmanship!
Criminally underrated Dirrell and the overachieving Degale! 2 Southpaws make for ugly fights. Dirrell was schooling Dirrell for first 2 rounds and then BOOM. Idioting commentator saying no defense. Dirrell is a defensive Michigan style fighter. The reason he got caught is Degale throws a LOOPING hand, so it goes around the guard. People swear if you don't fight like Canelo with a high guard you can't defend. I'm a guy who's never watched either, but I can't see how Degale won he gave away most rounds with low work rate, and back tracking after the knockdowns.
The Dirrell brothers are just bullies who both met fighter's who had more skill and heart... Chunky is the Real Deal, great boxer... speed, power, slickness and ring savvy... Him an Jack are the true Champs, both fought to a draw... ever since Andre got hit dirty behind the head by Abraham he hasn't been the same... Soooo sad.. #Fearoftheunknown
LOLOL And people had the nerve to think Regale could hang with Andre Ward lolol Regale would get his wild ass picked apart....he needs to get a new trainer and tighten up his game !!
Andre Dirrell looks completely different than he did in the fight against Badou Jack. I don't even recognize him here. He looks like a much better fighter. He looked amateurish in the Jack fight.
Since the Olympics, Dirrell has never been able to be a brave and honest fighter, always playing dirty, grabbing too much, hitting like cowards, a terrible fighter, a shame, a terrible example, a fake.
DAYUM dirrell REALLY fell off...him kovi and adonis were at one time the only major threats to beating ward. Hell he could've KNOCKED froch out if he wasn't so scary and trained for a stronger chin.
I think he would Even In his prime degale wasn't that good. He lost to groves and in certain fights he got hit too often and his cardio wasn't the best
degale will get k.o bad one of these days but his boxing IQ is under rated. I like him. but this fight was really close, dirrel won ever round after 7 clearly. But i understand why they gave the fight to degale in championship fights, those are able to knockdown the opponent and win a couple rounds should win the fight.
he threw his hands up sometimes but yea andre and anthony both do it but at least andre throws combos anthony somply relys on his power which wont do him shit if the guy can take a punch or defend against it being kinda slow and all.
Yeah it was really close I scored it for Degale but couldn't have argued if it would have gone either way Degale does look talented but just can be so damn lazy
These boxers are mediocrity over-hyped. Where is the class in boxing anymore? Boxers who really go at it like the Hagler Hearns Leonard Duran era. Boxing hasn't been the same since. Degale spent the whole night posturing. When Ward won (lost) against Kovalev people said it was a good fight. Come on. Ward needs to show he can fight with passion and aggression otherwise he'll never earn true respect. There is also way too much bias and anomalous refereeing in boxing, and the US is a prime suspect, like their foreign policy. Maybe Trump will reset the button so the US can find it's way back to some credibility. But I doubt it because he is a charlatan.
I had this fight 113-113, could have went one round either way. Epic second round by DeGale and underrated comeback by Direll. Really depends on how the championship rounds are scored.
Two judges scored 114-112 for Degale. I think they gave the last round to Degale, and if they did the fight should have been a majority draw. I say that because Degale did not win the last round. Had they given the last round to Dirrell, two judges would have scored 113-113. The Brits might not like that, but I'm only referring to the last round. Two judges had it 113-112 for Degale after 11 rounds, so If they gave Dirrell the last round, you can't argue that it shouldn't have been a 113-113- majority draw. The dumb commentators sounded like they surrendered the last round to Degale, but I watched it twice and Degale landed a body punch with 1:23 left, his first punch landed in the last round. He went 1:37 without landing anything, and only landed 4 punches total in the round. Dirrell landed more then 10 punches, easily winning the round. Degale threw a 'loud' flurry with 1:24 left, landing only a body punch out of the 5 punches he threw. Aside from that, he did nothing in that round.
I love that these fights are just available on YT... full version. Awesome

+Nicolas Doré after his performance against Murray I think he does... let's see how he looks against bute
+umar thomas he will lose
+9dangerous1 abraham should have drew with Murray
umar thomas hmmm maybe, idk but I have the felling that degale will lose against Bute.
That second judge should have been baned from judging. No way this fight was 117-109 scorecard. WTF was he watching???
yes outright ignorance..i had it draw..wouldnt be mad at a 1 point win for degale
Really tough fight to score. Watching without the commentators I had it a draw
you're probably american
. Rezinator I don't see how that matters either way
it shouldn't matter, but yanks score it for dirrell/draw and neutrals score it for the winner
I'd like to see George Groves win a title, then Degale and Groves fight for number three (one in the amateurs).
They hate each other.
lol, a pretty good fighteer called golovkin
It’s always the same with these extreme biased american commentators! Always rooting for their fellow countryman. It’s sickening and deplorable. Bad sportsmanship!
This DeGale would beat ANYBODY at 168. Hands down
No way. Froch and calzaghe would have destroyed him
Degale was superb
This commentary is dreadful.
these commentators are so full of shit in the second half of the fight. i had it 116:110 Degale
To bad ward ducked both these guys in his prime
Ward had problems with his promoter and moved up a weight class
Looking at these 2 excellent boxers we can see why GGG wouldn't fight any of them as he would only have a punchers chance
It’s something about Andre Dirrell that irritates me.
Degale deserved this fight. He's hungry like Dirrell was several yrs ago. Dirrell took off too much time and him firing his uncle was stupid.
This ain't the same Dirrell as he was before. Prime Dirrell (which was 5-6 years ago) would school degale for 12 rounds.
Nope.
lolol
there has never been a prime dirrell you fucking mong
what the fuck did u smoke before writing that comment
omgyouareugly was he fuck robbed against Froch...he ran like a pussy all night
id like to ask that commentator who josh smith is?...just after the 10 minute mark
Commentator said “get away from the left hand as a matter of fact move to his left…..” 😑
Hi to anyone watching before the Eubank fight
Never a fan of degale. Just his attitude but this win was epic
James DeGale won a clear Unanimous Decision after 12 rounds.
when degale hit dirrell on the break dirrell made a feminie sound lol
anybody who thinks dirrell won this fight should not apply to be a fight judge anytime soon......thanks.
Degale needs to act less cocky in his fights and be more serious and less lazy.
I had Dirrell winning this, Degale got too lax after the kockdown and Dirrell got back in the fight
Not feeling the WWE-style ring entrances. Keep it old school with the training entourage walking with the fighter.
Andre Dirrell looks completely different than he did in the fight against Badou Jack. I don't even recognize him here. He looks like a much better fighter. He looked amateurish in the Jack fight.
Since the Olympics, Dirrell has never been able to be a brave and honest fighter, always playing dirty, grabbing too much, hitting like cowards, a terrible fighter, a shame, a terrible example, a fake.
why was the commentaters calling him anthony?
+Jonathan Hickey Laziness
His brother name as anthony honest mistake
Very best skill
DAYUM dirrell REALLY fell off...him kovi and adonis were at one time the only major threats to beating ward. Hell he could've KNOCKED froch out if he wasn't so scary and trained for a stronger chin.
What’s the name of dirrells walkout song
I love the yanks comments every time a yank gets beaten by a Brit, would have thought they're used to it by now.
Aj still won't fight Wilder. Frampton ducked Rigo Billy ducked GGG. The U.K. Are pussies
Unity Boxing
Rigo and GGG aint American
Wilder should stop fighting bums.
Degale was an extremely skilled boxer. Sorry.. but Eubank jr would have had no chance against him at this point in his career.
I think he would Even In his prime degale wasn't that good. He lost to groves and in certain fights he got hit too often and his cardio wasn't the best
Badou jack can dominate this division because of his style, I know im late
i thought Dirrell was supposed to be a good fighter, now i know
+Ric Macphedear Dirrell IS a good fighter. He was just beaten by a better one.
Abraham would be too much for Degale who has no stamina.
degale will get k.o bad one of these days
but his boxing IQ is under rated. I like him. but this fight was really close, dirrel won ever round after 7 clearly. But i understand why they gave the fight to degale in championship fights, those are able to knockdown the opponent and win a couple rounds should win the fight.
so that's 5rds iyo which wouldn't be enough...
he threw his hands up sometimes but yea andre and anthony both do it but at least andre throws combos anthony somply relys on his power which wont do him shit if the guy can take a punch or defend against it being kinda slow and all.
There seems to be a glitch in The Matrix. 🧐
im sry i cant talk now xD
Very close fight, i thought Dirrell just about won...
madness
I had Dirrell Winning ...He won the last 5 rds
Dre u gotta finish your fights. You had a comeback and aint finish strong. come on man. 810 all day. Bring that Dog back out.
I had this fight 113-113, could have went one round either way. Epic second round by DeGale and underrated comeback by Direll. Really depends on how the championship rounds are scored.
I just can't watch dirrell now, to frustrating.
Degale left it too close there.
Aside from that, he did nothing in that round.
apples and pears indeed
