I have cycled thru acrylics, oi;, pastel, back to acrylic then watercolor. I have also mostly done landscapes but during the pandemic tried abstracts. I do think the variety gives me a wider vocabulary as an artist. Everything influences everything. My current acrylic abstract - people see watercolor painting techniques. I do think we need to follow our desires but must be balanced with focus on expressing ourselves.

I'm still at the beginning of my time as an artist - still working a full time job that I'm growing away from - and I tend to paint still lifes and portraits. But whenever I'm feeling stuck, I turn to abstract art, and find it gives me the energy I need to continue..
