My late partner Tek had this on vinyl, he died aged 34 in 2008 and wow does this take me back to our early days... his vinyl collection was vast, he had the spare bedroom in our first place as his music room, before we had our son, life was easy & free and how I took those days for granted... this song has just taken me back to a time I wish I’d of cherished more ❤️ nostalgia hurts x
Nostalgia hurts, this is so true! There was something inherently magical about the 90s and the music that was being made at the time, d’n’b and jungle were so creative and the vibe and atmosphere in London and that whole scene were amazing. Nothing has ever replaced it and I’m exactly the same, I wish I’d cherished it more as at the time I thought it would last forever!! It’s really unsettling thinking this tune and all the others are approaching their 30th birthday! This tune is timeless! These sort of tunes are a lost art form x
Thoughts are with you. I think this might be one of the greatest tracks to ever come out of the scene. I mean, there is a lot of utterly sensational tunes out there, but you'd be hard pushed to find anything (especially at this specific moment in time) that transcends it in terms of arrangement, depth, delicate brute force and just that indescribable X-factor that makes your soul stir. It's a gem. Long live Jungle!
First heard this on a pirate station out of Manchester, Soul Nation 104.6 FM, I could just about pick it up about 30 miles away where I lived. They played techno and DnB at night. My 16 year old ass would stay up to feed C90s into the cassette deck for as long as I could stay awake. Dj Retro played the best cuts, interspersed with weird adverts for barber shops and dangerous sounding ragga nights in Moss Side. Crafty spliff out of the bedroom window at night, and crank up the Sony Walkman. This track fucking blew me away.
Back in the days when everybody had their own thing. Some parts in the USA had the house thing. UK had jungle & DNB cooking. It was cool and fun to be a fan to love both genres.
Us English like to categorise everything and make things very confusing. House, hardcore, jungle, techno they should have just called it good music. I remember DJ Rap saying something similar on an old rave doc
It would have been something special to be a part of the scene back then. There's nothing akin to it going on today. That said, I guess the good thing about living in 2021 is that you can engage with different scenes across geographies and time. You're exposed to more scenes but not immersed in one.
Definitely possibly my favourite track of all time drum & bass. It took me a while to figure it out. I'm lucky I have this version on CD it's rare as f###. I often go places with this track yeah
First heard this on Kiss FM in about 1993, on a late show with Fabio and Grooverider. It spoke to me in a way no other piece of music ever had, and still does. It helped me through a really difficult time, and still does. It's got such depth. It sounds fresh every time I play it, even 30 years later. Beautiful.
I don't know what headspace Peshay was in when he created this masterpiece (masterpiece seems a redundant term to describe this tune, somehow) but there is literally nothing like it! It's hard to put into words the places where this music takes you.
@Harvey Jones Hmmm, is there a tone of resentment there? Not that it matters either way, it just sounds like you think he had it very, very easy..am I right? Either way, it must have helped him write those absolute classics that he came up with I suppose. He certainly had a talent for writing great music, perhaps his Mum should take some credit seeing as she helped so much... ; )
@Harvey Jones Hey Harvey, well I'm really, really good at getting the wrong end of the stick, so I'm true to form here. At least my illusions of the man have not been shattered, he's still a dude!! I'll put his music on safe in the knowledge that he was not a dick!...lol!!
Production on this was light years ahead at the time, listening now I hear how he fades chords like he’s mixing two tunes. Pretty sure Nicky Black Market had a mix tape with this on it, stand out track, simply atmospheric !
This tune is incredible it has a power to take you to specific moment in time ...hard to explain like deja vu when everything was ok. Big love to all stoping by to listen to this❤
One of the most beautiful tunes ever made. Ever. The intro is absolutely stunning. The progression and phrasing is unbelievably good. It's one of those tunes that hurts--half because of it's sheer quality, half because you know you'll rarely find tunes in this lifetime that sound as amazing.
Peshay is an absolute genius or for lack of a better word. A fuckin BEAST! How can something so beautiful make me react with tears and love and then a loss for words cuz it is desired to be listened. Fuckkkkkk its just toooo good. I cry everytime
Bought a Good Looking compilation CD around ’99 which had this and Bukem’s ”Atlantis” on it. Seminal tunes, combining sublime melodies with some hard classic amens
Such a therapeutic atmospheric track. Listening with clarity and hope this time instead of introspection and hurt last time. Timeless piece. Would love to hear it played out in a club someday. Mesmerising.

This song makes me feel like I'm trapped in a 6th generation console ad where I'm being chased by surreal monsters while it occasionally cuts to gameplay footage of, say, Sonic Adventure or Blinx the Time Sweeper.

Oh hahaha that is weird. I literally just posited that as a thought on Reddit as my pick for 'Jungle blueprint' for an alien race, only flipping to Babylon (Trace Remix ptII) at the last second, simply because it contains samples which are so much part of your textbook Jungle sound. Then saw your comment just now. Haha! But, yeah this is one hell of a track to communicate into the depths of space. My only fear is that any lifeforms landing on Earth after hearing it would be sorely disappointed with us as a species.
