Good list, the only thing I would personally change about the this list is swapping out the stock mid-pipe for an offroad H or X-pipe instead of getting a catback. For the auto Mach 1 guys, an aftermarket torque converter to replace the MGW short shifter on this list.
CAI looks nice but isnt worth the money unless you just have money to burn. Machs thankfully at least already come with 3.55s so unless you plan on racing or being a little quicker off the line you probably dont need gears, but if you do, minumum 4.10s with the machs higher rev limit. 3.73 isnt much of a change from the 3.55s. Agree on the exhaust, though i have seen videos of stock catback with o/r x and it actually sounds really good! Beautiful mach you guys have!
A 2.5” diameter x-pipe is the most HP you’ll gain for your dollar. doesn’t matter if it’s with hi-flow cats or no cats you’ll feel a difference starting at mid rpm. Cat backs don’t yield much because the restriction is so far from the engine. Chambered mufflers might get you 5 top-end hp, a straight-through muffler still only yields 8-10 hp and the gain isn’t until your way up in rpm, an X pipe will get you much more, probably around 20. That’s my experience from modding mine.
Great video. I too have a 2004 Mach 1 in Competition Orange with the 5 speed manual. I hope this list may help other Mach 1 owners. My Mods are: Ceramic coated headers, Bassani X pipe, high flow cats, SLP shotgun resonators, Magna Flow 3 inch dual stainless exhaust, Ford Racing Stage 2 clutch with Ford racing throwout and pilot shaft bearings. K&N CAI, JDM custom tune, Eibach Street/Strip suspension kit: Lowering coil springs, oversize sway bars with polyurethane bushings throughout, Koni street/strip shocks, Bilstein axle wrap up shocks, strut tower adjustment plates, Carters Customs rear diffuser, Nitto street/track tires, shift light, pillar gauges, B&M short throw ripper shifter, Side and rear louvers , LED upgraded light bulbs for all lights in and on the car, sequenced turn signal lights rear, sub frame connectors, 170 degree thermostat, Ford Racing aluminum drive shaft, Ford OEM Mach 1 mudflaps front and rear (rare!) E3 spark plugs and Accel high performance coil packs on all 8 plugs. It runs like a raped ape and can lay rubber through 4th gear with no problems at all. Enjoy!
@@fishsquishguy1833 I agree on the ORXP did so and kept the stock stainless mufflers, she is plenty loud now with that traditional Mustang sound. Also did the CAI and kept the shaker functional for sure. Did the tuner and boosted the octane a little higher since i can get the 97 oct gas. She runs very good and with only 19k miles i am not going to change her anymore.
What's the point of removing the intake silencer? Does it improve power or you just prefer the look of the engine bay without it? I've read on forums that it should come out but nobody ever really says why.
With mine the subframe connectors are much more important then any of these, it just made it handle by making the suspension do the work and stop the unibody from flexing. I make it first, cat-back second, short throw third, clutch cable adjuster and new cable and quadrant fourth, and rear lower control arms fifth. And the list goes on from there...
@@zachniverson8816 Sure. commercial U channel that are screwed in with sheet metal screws, they do nothing to meaningful to help tame the unibody chassis. Get a good set of Maximum Motorsports weld-in ones and feel and hear the difference. No more twisting, creaking and lazy suspension parts. Makes the car so much more fun to drive.
got it 2003 Mark one with about 32,000 miles on bought it in 2003 from Hillsboro Ford with a few thousand miles on it maybe 3000 bought it with flow masters and that’s it Just had 4:10 Gears put in it needs a tune

AFS used to sell on Ebay Motors also, not sure if they still do. Mach1 Registry Forums in their marketplace was a good place for used ones but I don’t think that site is as active as it used to be. As far as the ASF wheels go: Seems like good quality wheels as far as looks and longevity. Bought a set of 18 x 9 all around for my 03 Mach over 10 years ago. Still look great, subtle but nice. Only thing and I’m sure the 17” are as well, but they’re heavy. Swap em out if I’m going to the track so no big deal. Good luck finding a pair of of the 17x10.5. AFS did have an option of the insets being black rather than grey so just take that into consideration if you’re buying used ones.
Yeah I was thinking about it but honestly what are the big pros of having it if my car only has 4:10 gears jlt intake x pipe with slp loudmouths and short throw how can I benefit from having that I have no engine work done which I want to get cams for it and springs basically the whole top end
Its great to have if codes pop up or to clear codes. Just knowing whats going on with the car. Eventually if you want to do some engine mods, you will have the device to load tunes to so the car will run properly
Well it will be definitely something to look into once I start doing internal mods. I was gonna do the Eaton swap but too much I'd rather just buy a cobra
Ok so im not trying to brag here or anything but I am curious cause I have an 03 mach 1 and I will start from the front to the end on mods so I have SLP longtube headers with a borla attak catback exhaust system, Tremec T56, stage 2 Mcleod clutch, ford racing aluminum driveshaft, M/T rims, 93 premium race tune from diablo, short throw shifter, and some other goodies but I wanna go for boost but I heard these pistons and rods ARE NOT THE SAME as the Cobra 4.6L engine which would make sense just due to the Mach 1 block being all aluminum and the cobra being cast iron
Absolutely not .......turn your traction control off........ manual shift from first......and it's a whole different animal.......I ran a 8.70 flat in the 1/8 mile track...... completely stock motor

4:10 gears are fun in mine but what sucks is you’re doing 3k on the highway if you wanna go anywhere above 60mph

That's the car that got me into cars when I was a kid. Comp orange mach 1 and that lead into the Comp cobra.

Mach 1s come with subframe connectors from the factory.... GTs and cobras didn't

Just checked their site: have a pair of 17x 10.5 in stock for $545. I think most mount a 315 tire on them with no rubbing issues?

the higher the ratio (4.10 gears compared to 3.73 gears) the higher the gearing and the greater number of rotations before the rear wheels turn.
