These were done as a teaching and demonstration about the devastating consequences of sin and for believers to demonstrate faith. The sacrifices themselves did not provide forgiveness for sin. It was the faith that resulted in obedience that resulted in forgiveness by our Merciful G-d! Read Ezekiel and Zechariah and Isaiah and it will be seen that sacrifices will be reinstated in the millennial kingdom. This is probably primarily a teaching tool but there is likely more to it.
What a neat video, this year on the dig there they did vlogs almost each day to keep everyone informed about the progress. Pretty sure you can find them still here on TH-cam. They are extremely interesting. Great video~ God willing miracles will happen and I will be able to dig with you all this year. Thanks for the great video.
