    2 dolphin kics per pull and ur butt must go up ang down
    Fast pulls,wide pulls
    Good starting push off or underwater
    That's the key to be fast in butterfly

    I have targeted myself to race in the 200 meters butterfly event this june 2020. It would be my first time racing on that event. Its a hard race, but I guess with the tips given on this video I could improve my technique by swimming butterfly in long distances. I wish with all my hearth I could get to finished that race of 200 meters butterfly, just accomplish to swim it properly from the start to the end, its one of my desired goals for this 2020. Your tips are so valious for me, I will follow your videos for sure. I am a butterflyer and thats it!!! Thank for your knowledge on swimming, it is very useful for me.
    Kind regards :)

      Hi Sergio - If your race goes ahead good luck. When you swim 200 fly it's important to keep your breathing in check in the first 75% of the race. Breathe every 2 strokes for at least the first 100m of the race, that will ensure you keep in control of your breathing. Cheers

    If you are swimming a longer butterfly race like a 200 you defiantly don't want to rush your kick. Obviously you need a strong second kick, but rushing your second kick will increase the overall tempo of the stroke and make you die as a result. If you want a good distance fly stroke to have to slow down your stroke and grab lots of water. Remember the speed of your kick dictates the tempo of the stroke so you have to slow the kick down but also keeping your hips up. also you don't want to be too horizontal in a 200 fly. Being at a bit of an angle in the water on your second kick is actually the position you want to be in. If you don't believe me look up Micheal Phelps Fly stroke. Tbh this guy doesn't seem to know a whole lot about swimming.

    • @SwimCycleRunCoach
      @SwimCycleRunCoach  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good points Julian. Rhythm really is the key and as you get stronger it's possible to improve stroke rate. That is your own personal stroke rate from your own personal starting point. Cheers

    • @sunshinegaming5458
      @sunshinegaming5458 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Micheal Phelps is different from most people. He breathes every stroke, because his kick is so big and strong that if he doesn’t breathe, his feet come out of them water

    • @billybob6604
      @billybob6604 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I’m going to disagree with you tempo is very important depending on your stroke whether the 100 or 200
      and also you were wrong when you said he didn’t know a lot

      Simone ! Make sure you control the first 100 by breathing 2’s, stay flat by making sure you keep your 2nd kick strong and move forward not up and down. Have a good race.

      Sorry if i'm late but you need to make sure you can breathe 2's for the first 50 at least (better for 75). Go to 1's on the last 50 or 25 and you know you can make it.

    what about using hands and arms to get head up and not the kick at all, stay as flat as possible, breath every time and use a very very weak double kick and of course everything very relaxed?some say that s not correct, too slow, too complicated, not undulating enough but i find it is the only way to swim fly with almost no effort (of course this is a slow fly).while for fast fly i use usual technique with strong kick...did anybody try this fly this way using arms to get head up and move forwards instead of kick?

    • @RigoOXx
      @RigoOXx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too!
      I mean when I swim a 200 fly I do this, but I have found everyone kicks my ass, even though I'm the second fastest of my age group in the 100 fly.

    • @micahbergeron209
      @micahbergeron209 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to have a strong kick because your arms is what takes all of the energy from you. When you kick very well, it takes most of the strain off of your arms and allows you to be propelled in the water easier. Look at whales and dolphins, their kicks are so strong that they don’t even have arms. Plus, the fastest way to move in water is dolphin kicking(if you can maintain the same speed)

    • @lobba123
      @lobba123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micahbergeron209 ...i am 52yo, i dont have kick power anymore, i am still the fastest fly of all ages in my pool (except maybe some guys i dont know swimming strange hrs) but i cannot use full power kick if it is more than 50m....it was the opposite when younger but i had to change technique.
