According to Amnesty International, in turkey "Thousands of people are held in lengthy and punitive pre-trial detention, often without any credible evidence of their having committed any crime recognizable under international law. There were severe restrictions on the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly and people considered critical of the current government - in particular journalists, political activists and human rights defenders - were detained or faced trumped-up criminal charges. The authorities continued to arbitrarily ban demonstrations and use unnecessary and excessive force to disperse peaceful protestors. There were credible reports of torture and enforced disappearances." The United States of America and the European Union have already imposed sanctions against turkey, in addition to threatening this country with new sanctions over many violations spanning from human rights to bullying other countries. Last year the tragic dictator attempted to flood Greece with people from Asia and Africa. Thanks to a rapid and methodical reaction from Greece, the dictator made a fool of himself.
he didn't make a fool of himself. he just did it like that to send you all a message, it worked & now the EU paid the outstanding second installment of the 6 billion euros & they're now trying to make another deal with Turkey where they will pay even more money. Why are they doing this? because they know if Turkey wanted, we can send refugees from all points of entry into Europe, not just that one Greek border.
it is sad that refugees get caught in between all this but you got to remember that Turkey paid over $50 Billion USD of it's own money to take care of these refugees & that's not including the 6 Billion Euros from the EU. We can't be expected to pay the bill or hold people back anymore if the EU doesn't do its fair share of the lifting. If we don't block them from entering the EU then they will come in droves & it absolutely is not our responsibility to prevent these refugees from reaching the EU. Erdogan already lost these big cities (Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara) because he let millions of single men refugees in. the next step is for the EU to pay 5 Billion euros so we can build them houses in north Syria so that we can send them back, safely. This way, Turkey won't have this refugee card to play against the EU & the refugees will be taken care of. It's a win-win solution for all of us
it's a "rouge state" because it isn't bending over backwards for US or EU interests, because it is now able to protect its own interests. The reality is, billions of people around the world see Erdogan as their real president & the protector of the Muslim world. Another billion or so Non-Muslims see Erdogan as a great leader because of the great relations we have with their respective countries. Those days of Turkey allowing the EU & US to take advantage of Turkey without Turkey getting anything in return is over. This is why your media is crying foul over Turkey's rise. Now, we have a relationship of equals with the US & EU, this means we aren't taken advantage by them anymore. The last 100 years of Turkey being powerless & poor is no longer going to be repeated. Do you really think we are going to settle for another 100 years of that, especially giving what middle eastern countries were put through over the last 100 years? Of course we will not accept this anymore... the middle east & much of Africa is going to be protected by Turkey, they are going to join the Union that Turkey is creating right now as we speak.
