When America experienced lower poverty rates than any other advanced democracy, local governments designated specific areas known as "Settlers' Landings." These areas were intended for people across the country who intentionally left their previous homes behind in search of improved living standards. They allowed them to exchange ideas and share their creativity to progress in resettling. This initiative aimed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote creativity to advance society. In contrast, a sign of the times is that civic authorities now employ "Social Identity Deconstruction," which many people perceive as a form of isolation and humiliation. The California author Jack London captured the stark contrast between the "Homeless" and the American Settler tactic in his observation: "Class supremacy can rest only on class degradation," as expressed in his work, "The People of the Abyss."
The issue is slowly but surely areas once populated by poor and working class people will be gentrified. Thus , rents will escalate and the working class will be displaced. Rents will no longer be affordable
There is NO amount of money that could "fix" these kind of people's problems. The way they live, the destruction they cause, the attitudes they have--- is UNFIXABLE!!!

The sad part is that with some real investment and TLC, the neighborhood could serve as a gorgeous brickwork heritage district. You might see slums, but I see the North American Amsterdam that could be a reality if the area wasn't so neglected and poverty stricken.
It's so sad Baltimore was a beautiful city. I've seen photos and videos of how it was in the 1960s. Those houses must have been lovely to live in, in their time, they remind me of the terraced style houses and the corner shops here in England. No offence but in colonial America times it was one of the finest cities in the States.😢
This situation could be solved by giving local residents ownership and training to fix those abandoned-looking properties up. But that unity, desire for education, focus, conflict resolution and problem-solving is usually lacking in places like this in the world so you have to minimize that, too, or the local residents will continue to throw trash, tag up walls, break windows, and break into properties, etc.

Unfortunate Baltimore has more urban blight areas with the bandos. Politics for 50 plus yrs allows this to happen. Maybe people should try a different version of it at this point?

Baltimore & Philadelphia are almost identical. The social disorder and acceptance by these residents to live in vacuum of disgusting filth & decay is an amazing dynamic. You cannot control where you were born & raised, but, as an adult, you CAN 100% control where you live and how YOU maintain your neighborhood. This shows NO caring, NO class, NO respect. Nobody went in there and made that mess. All the garbage, graffiti and destruction was made by those people. You people are right nobody should live like this. But, obviously they want to. Because the destruction and danger continues. Normal people do not live like this. They take pride in what little they have. I have no pity on them. It’s called going to school and getting a job. And not blaming society for your choices.

I have a question for you. Do they separate people by ethnicity in the United States? Are there neighborhoods for blacks, whites, Asians and Latinos? I'm Brazilian, and we find this bizarre!
There is no law stating that today but it's now by choice... However, 60 years ago in Baltimore, there was such laws... When they got rid of the laws, scum "blockbusters" would come into a white neighborhood, buy up one house and place a black family there, then all the whites would sell their houses for pennies on the dollar due to fear and the blockbusters made huge profits. Then the blockbusters would either resell the houses to blacks at inflated interest rates or just turn to slumlords renting into the houses fell apart.
