    My Allez is a 2000 M4 Pro, built from a proprietary alloy in the US and fitted with Ultegra 6500/01 and DuraAce wheels. In 2000, the Allez Pro was one step down from the S-Works; there was not yet a Tarmac in the lineup. It's still a really great bike.

    I have an A 7:26 llez sport (around 2022 model) and I absolutely love riding that thing. The day I bought it, I was deciding between an entry level Cervelo Caledonia and the Allez sport, and after testing both bikes back to back there was no doubt in my mind that the allez was much smoother and much more comfortable to ride so I walked out with my Allez that day. Couple years later I bought a new Aethos comp with Sram Rival wireless groupset, and the story repeats itself again. After riding both bikes back to back I do enjoy riding my Allez even more than the Aethos even though the Aethos is a more responsive bike, it cannot match the Allez magic carpet ride. I know a lot of you are gonna think I’m crazy but that’s just my opinion. I wish Specialized would make an Allez with at least mechanical 105 and carbon wheels, it would sell like hot pancakes. Allez ride+ aethos lightness= awesomeness. Happy riding 😁👍🏼

    Put 55 deep carbons on my 2009 Allez triple and it's fast and future proof, out runs and out climbs SL7's habitually, but the Venge occasionally humbles it down hill. Rim brakes are still king on any tire less than a 28!

    Been riding my new allez sport for couple of months now. Great all-rounder . 130km Saturday ride with the boys around south Wales is a comfortable ride and if you just happen to hit some dirty uneven roads.just nock back your tyre pressure to 65 PSI and she will perform like a gravel bike.then refill back to 90 PSI and your back in road mode .bang for bucks cannot fault it 🚴😜 best entry level bike out there 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🚴😁

      Me too! There is too much fuss about disc brakes. They do handle butter smoothly, but rim brakes work equally effective and they are hassle free when it comes to maintenance (not to mention disasters like removing the wheel mid -ride and forgetting to block the pads from accidentally closing, an many more). But look at the bright side of it. With the disc brake frenzy, many high quality second hand gems with rib brakes will come out.

      Disc brakes seem to be a heavy and expensive solution without a problem. The only really big advancement in bikes was indexed shifting. Rim brakes work well, are reliable,require very little maintenance and can be easily serviced without going to a mechanic.

    • @mikekelly1771
      @mikekelly1771 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did lengthen the chainstays on this new model to improve tire clearance though. So it's closer to the Roubaix than the 2022 Allez in the back end.

  • @ditto1958

    It’s too bad that the market seems to be requiring bike makers to totally ditch rim brakes. The hydraulic ones that really shine are expensive. The mechanical disc brakes are no better than good rim brakes, but are heavier, costlier and more difficult to maintain.

    1600 pounds or 1900 euros for an entry level bike that has a 10 speed tiagra and mechanical disc brakes? Seriously? Thanks, but no thanks! I am lucky to have a 2021 Allez Sport, with the excellent budget Sora and caliper brakes. I upgraded the brakes to a set of Ultegra found for just 50 euros like new and it is all I ever wanted from my Allez. My next one will be something else. Kudos to Specialized that made it easy for me to look elsewhere. I do not like the specs of this any more, nor its looks with that slant bar on the back, nor the ugly welding on their higher spec'ed bikes.

    • @JonathanMallett
      @JonathanMallett ปีที่แล้ว

      If it softens the blow ever so slightly the Tiagra level has hydraulic disc brakes. Still overpriced imo.

    • @johnt9379
      @johnt9379 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My entry level 2020 Allez (same bike as the 2021) cost £650 in January 2020, full price at the time. Nearly half the price of the new entry level bike. You could get the all singing and dancing version with the 105 groupset for under a grand.
      There will be loads of these on sale at the end of the year for a more reasonable price anyway because nobody in their right mind would pay these kinds of prices. Probably get the entry level for £750 which is what I'd say is reasonable.

    • @cauldron101
      @cauldron101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonathanMallett For me caliper brakes do a great job and have less hassle when it comes to maintenance. Sora to Tiagra the difference is negligible. At that price I would expect at least the proven 105 groupset, regardless of caliper or hydraulic disc brakes. It makes now other, a bit pricier but better spec'ed bikes a wiser selection.

    the older allez model's are so much better! really wish they didn't change it 1,800 dollars for Tiagra groupset is so expensive like the caad13 is 1,900 with full 105: A Caynon Endurace is 1,800 with full 105 as well. with dics breaks. Those are just 2 examples. Save ur money and don't buy the allez sport. The Allez Calris version seems to be a better deal but 1,200 for very low quality spec bike.
