Yes, BSA have had regulator issues with the early R10 models. Yes, BSA have had feeding issues in some of the newer models updating the previous platform. Yes, both issues were fixed post release. Yes, this is undesirable, but inevitably it will always be part of innovation. But despite this, I would still argue that the vast majority of complaints towards BSA are because it’s just fashionable to pick on them in our hobby varsity more than the genuine existence of said issues.
“It’s not about accuracy, just a test” Proceeds to drive tacks. 😂 Awesome airgun.
Great to see a post in AAR News! :D
I have had a R12 since launch and never had a problem it’s in .177 I have fitted the carbon bottle and the eagle vision pick rail. I do a lot of shooting off hand and find this rifle so comfortable to use and accuracy has never been a problem I think it shoots better now than when new I use BSA gold star and QyS streamline. I own several guns but just get on with this I love it .
One of the most stylish rifles on the market. Just hope standards do not drop when they bring another new rifle out. Teething problems is no excuse when you talk about a rifle costing over £1000. Thanks for another interesting video.
Thank you for the update Andy
I bought the bsa r12 .22 in walnut.
Was sent back to bsa twice one for power loss and one for cocking issues. I gave up.
Sold it back to shop in the end.
Going for the aa ultimate sporter next.
Loved the gun while it worked though especially the looks….
Would buy one tomorrow BUT won't because of the number of anti tampers on it. You need to be able to adjust pcp, s.
@@memememe2674 to be honest, I wouldn’t know where to start with adjusting bits and bobs internally but market wise love the look etc. only drawback for me is shot count at .177 can live with that.
As long as it’s sturdy shoots straight and won’t break down I’m good with it 😊
You will NOT regret buying the air arms ultimate sporter...😉
Had massive anxiety watching you through that gun around 😂😂😂😂
Had mine for a few weeks now, and Absolutely love it. Put about 3000 pellets through so far and no mag or loading issues whatsoever.
The Trigger is to die for and such a lovely gun to shoot. My HW100KT was my goto gun and never thought anything would push it to second best, I can’t put the BSA down.
And it is as accurate as anything out there, well done BSA for producing a fantastic gun.
That was a pretty stringent test Andy, let’s hope BSA have now got the issue sorted out, certainly looks like it from this test.
BSA rifles are beautiful looking guns but they continue to fall short due to faults, especially the mags. Look at the Weihrauch magazine. It is so simple in design but it works perfectly.
Nice, more AAR On Air News!
Hi Andy. I have the BSA Ultra CLX in. 22cal and have had the issue of pellets dropping into the rear of the Gun. When it came back to me the RFD had removed 7 pellets.
I love my 160 CLX. Never had a problem with the action, leaver or any other parts. Its a fabulous rifle.
Yea, but at its worst, it was something like 1/3 where sent back on the new cls and slx . With various issues .. like the pellets dropping in tge action or the mag spring being so strong it warped and deformed pellets or the crown and barrel where not machined properly. Or the stocks that had been over drilled do there was only about 2mm of wood holding it all together.. or leaking like a sieve. And even having the wrong adjustment screw so when adjusted the safety wont engage or disengage. Unfortunately, the list goes on, mate . I'm glad you got a good one and love it, but 2 of my friends have had nothing but issues with them. One has just returned the 3rd time replaced rifle .. because something broke inside, it's been back two weeks, and he has less than a tin of pellets through it .
@@RaysTwoPence I hope they get them sorted
@@3DPFactory1 1 is the other has requested a refund
Beware the fury of a patient man . They are some strong words from the fairest reviewer about .. would be nice to see them get ontop of the issues because damm thats a lovely rifle .
Sub12’s barrel not being rifled to the muzzle was the last straw for me.
I won’t have another, I’m sad to say.
The Quality Assurance must be non-existent for that to be shipped out.
Yea my friends was like that and crowning was terrible..so he sent it back and got it replaced with leaky one so back again .then one day hes giving it a wipe down coz it got wet and noticed the stock was over drilled at the fixing screw so had only about 2mm of wood holding the action in place .. he had to send it back they replaced the stock . then he had issues with pellets and magazines. So they removed the pellets from the action and gave him new magazines problem solved and just last week at the range he pulls the trigger and boing ping something let go inside the rifle he's had it replaced 3 times and been in for repairs about the same amount he's had it less time than the shop . Now he's in process of full refund and reimbursement for all the extra cost to himself .. and to rub salt into the wound for them my ATA AIRBOURNE. £399 regulated bottle rifle shoots just the same size groups and has been bullet proof since I bought it so much so my friend is currently eyeing one up .
Had me confused, it can't be Friday already 😅
Looks nice but if you get the same accuracy from the stoeger why not save the money.....
had mine from day 1and had no problems at all one of the best in my collection
Certainly liked your test, and hope you are right about the magazine, as I'm waiting on the delivery of mine. Keep up the great work Andy. 👍
Superb test as usual .
Due to the issue mentioned in regards the pellets dropping into the action plus a general backlog of getting this and other issues sorted, and, to quote my local shop "BSA not willing to work on guns that are not that old," said shop, after many a year, has ceased being a BSA dealer. On a personal note, I was there with the R10 early on. It had a leak on the gauge, then all the issues with the regulator, and in all it went back to the factory five times, and since then I've not bought a new BSA. I still have a T10, which was a bit low powered and BSA sorted that. They even gave me a single shot adapter to test when they were yet to go on the market, and a moderator, for my trouble, but since that time, many moons ago now, the magazines have always been an issue in the T-10, with them being tight in the rifle, which prevents the magazine from cycling. My oldest BSA is a 1921 Model "L", and it's never any bother and just keeps on going. There are others, all springers ranging from the 1960's to the late 1990's, all of which continue to perform well. Alas, looking at BSA's current range, they seem to aiming for the higher priced market, but don't have the build quality and knowledge to back it up anymore. The latter comes from the above said former dealer. I look at the new Meteor Super and shake my head. BSA have lost their way.
beautiful finish looks so smooth operating it a keeper
Much better pcp's out there..
It's a beautiful gun, almost a wall hangar! Is that legal?
Great to see a valuable gun being moderately abused for the sake of market research.
Would like to see more from AAR news......your too popular to retire!
Thank you Andy.
I have bought a pellet probe from Rat Works to try and solve the problem. Mine has been back to BSA and to my local gun smith twice for the same issue of pellets falling back into the mechanism. I even thought of selling it. Let’s hope the new probe is the answer.
Bloomin’ Heck Andy! Could you give me a bit of warning before you start shooting like that? I had to take cover behind the sofa. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Just ordered one yesterday and tried to get it with just the carbon bottle and was told yes you don't need to have the aluminium one but will still have to pay £200 extra. It's like ordering egg and bacon in a cafe and they bring a plate with bacon and tell you the egg is another £1.50p. I have the R12
cl x pro and love it but this kind of trickery won't do them any favours.
Must admit to a bacon egg and mushroom flashback for a second there ! Total matrix glitch but no its Wednesday .
Got to say how balletic , nay Hendrix like the cocking was at one point i was waiting for you to slip the trigger with your teeth !
I think all but the most nieve of us recognise that manufacturers all build issues into products sometimes, what counts really is how fast that issue is remedied for both existing and future customers so hopefully here lesson learned because the rest of the product is world class .
Absolutely should have had a bacon sarnie , roll on friday !
Dave
Any one else thought it was Friday
Yep 😂😂
Me too 😁
Yep too !
Lol... for a moment there...😅
Aye, only no Chicken Fajitas for tea….
I would love to see BSA make an extended stock that hides the bottle, albeit with a slightly slimmer bottle and reduced shot count. I think the bottles make air guns look ugly but that's just a personal opinion. Their stock designs are superb but a full length version could be innovative and possibly quite special. ATB MMMD
Still think the super 10 is a better rifle, I miss my old one wish I never sold it that old chestnut. BSA should be up there with the best hopefully it’s sorted
Can you swap the sidelever for leftys
BSA want to start manufacturing better Springers or break down rifles, they are way behind, they do make beautiful PCP's R10 and R12 the rest of their rifles are mince.
all these eu companys are doing bad.. no vision.. AA Weihraugh.. bsa.. they dont have the funds to innovate.. then brands like fx came around.. with a lot of new stuff.. so they all just kept their 1 rifle.. yes they still have good production quality.. but the product is outdated..
Okay..you cane give it back now 😁😂
Hey Andy, great to know its working fine now. Ps can you tell us the make and model of the rifle tripod rest on the table their with you. Its looks great and id like to get one. Thank Joanne in the UK
I'm pretty certain it's a Rokstad. I've got one and Andys looks the same. I got mine from PQARA but i think they're readily available on ebay etc. Hope this helps
@karlmaddox1209
Hello. I got my rifle rest from Vector Air around Christmas, just gone time, after seeing Andy use his.
It looked good, so I purchased my own. What with the short days now, I haven't had chance ro try mine. But I like it and don't expect any issues. Thank you.
@@karlmaddox1209 awesome, thanks for that. Joanne. X
But let's be honest, the enternals aren't the best and bsa are very overpriced for what you actually get
BSA should be far ahead of themselves but they’re not, why don’t you see a BSA on a competition circuit? I’ll tell you why …… they have a platform and every now and then they add a couple of different letters on the name and call it a new gun! Disgusting behaviour from a top gun manufacturer.
I’d use a BSA on the HFT circuit but I’ll stick with my Air Arms thanks.
If you'd have done that with an FX, the barrel would have bent, the shroud would have come loose and the block would have snapped.
Thanks Andy, but if we still have our R10's is there anything we can do with that magazine? (I have already modified the overly sharp mag retention square) 👍🥸
@@petemulhearn7787 I still have a AA HFT500, great gun just not a carbine and a little heavy
