Swap to AoE rotation in execute (35%) at 3+ targets, otherwise do it at 5 targets for best results assuming you have the talents. AoE execute goes HARD.
Hey , sorry to bug you but I commented on this video in regards to the cast bar and I was really hoping to get your help on this. Everything else you've shared has helped me a lot but the last thing I wish I had was the cast bar you are using. I installed the WA listed in this video but I'm not getting that come up. So my guild and I decided to put me, a former shadow main, on the second mage spot. I'm kinda happy about that decision, but got overwhelmed by arcane pretty fast. It can sometimes be hard to translate what’s being done to infinite health target dummies to actual group pulls. I did really like you calling out using ToTM even if the pack is nearly dead. We usually run single Arcane Orb in AOE. If you have CC proc, Orb and 0 arcane charges you can also send that Orb between AM and SP and get it back with the Shifting Power.

Fantastic guide dude. Brand new WoW player. About a month in. Unfortunately for me, I think I might have chosen hardest spec in the game in Arc Mage as my intro to wow, so the gap in knowledge for me is massive. I just hit level 72 last night, from 0, and have completed an initial chunk of the WW campaign. Your guide here explained everything wonderfully, just like I'm 5, which is exactly what I need right now. Time to go practice these rotations on some dummies and try to learn how to track/manage everything. Instant like and sub. Will be by to check out streams also. Thanks

I misunderstood a few things about the changes and overthought the burden of power change. i wouldnt double dip NP with burden anymore at 1 stack and would wait to use it on glorious incadesence at 1 charge after a blast which would sometimes reclip burden of power again bc i would be casting so much between the sends. it felt so clunky but kinda just took getting my but whooped by a bunch of mid tier dps specs to realize i needed to get back to basics. thank you thank you thank you
Like how blizzard tried to simplify the rotation without touching the hardest part of syncing cooldowns in real combat. Hopefully they'll add a new Druid hero talent (then reduce next cooldown for each second major CD is available) similar to all classes like they did with Pandemic
This guide is a huge improvement to your previous guides, especially for people new to mage. Nicely done! One question though with the AoE talent set up (high voltage): if I'm fighting a m+ boss do I still send out barrage more often because I can get charges back with Arcane Missiles thanks to the trait? Or do I stick to the regular ST rotation? Loved the slowing down the rotation part and talking over it btw, that was super helpful.
Thanks for the detailled guide! I have a question to the AoE Rotation. At Minute 41:18 you just barrage (because you have an orb and Clearcasting to get back to 4 charges). If I understand the the written guide on wowhead correctly it should be arcane blast + arcane blast queued into barrage. Also at Minute 43:19 you just barrage, even though you dont have Aether attunement, nor burden / intuition. If my understanding is correct, the only 2 situations where you just barrage is with Aether attunement and Burden or Intuition - isn´t that correct? Thx for clarifying! :)
Had the exact same questions. At 41:18 he barrages with 2 NP stacks even though the wowhead guide says to Blast first and then Blast Baragge on 1 stack of NP. Maybe the wowhead guide is more funnel oriented while his approach is more overall aoe dmg oriented.

Hey @Preheat, I love the video and weakaura, only my weakaura isn't getting that cast bar like yours, is that apart of the luxthos weakaura you linked and I have to turn something on or is that a separate weakaura for that cast bar?
I setup a Weakaura to play a sound when your arcane surge is about to end (you can make it only trigger for the one that turns into arcane soul and not the talent one). I find it helps me prepare for arcane soul instead of just relying on noticing the visuals that pop up as it starts.
Very nice guide! You are not tracking Arcane Tempo any more. I presume the rest of the priority is more important and dumping charges to keep up arcane tempo is so bad, that we just dont care about it any more and if it drops when we are doing our rotation right its not a big deal?
I go oom so fast sometimes, before I get to start the big burn again going ham on the dummies. Not even talking about 1-4 seconds, like sometimes its 19seconds of no mana. I watched the video several times now, I'm not missing the rotation anywhere. 19% mastery and 16% haste. If I get more haste, I will go oom even faster.
Once I said i didn't understand what you are talking about on some previous guides, i would like to take it back, that's an in depth and really easy to understand guide! 11.0.5 will change again everything though... Blizzard doesn't want rewarding specs, that feels really bad for the game, having specs like bm hunters doing as much dmg as a high tech spec like Arcane or fire Mage isn't healthy for the game... I wish content creators would give some feedback on the subject, just like you did with the NP change that got reverted, atleast for a while...
What i dont understand: why dont you just hold on your glorious incandescence and wait for the next double dip on NP instead of sending it right away when you get it? like at 23:56, is there any disadvantage in holding barrage, wait for the next missles and then double dip?

Could you explain the decision to use barrage instead of blast at 41:21? My understanding is that when you have 2 stacks of nether precision, you always blast, blast+barrage UNLESS you have burden of power (like you mention in the advanced section).
believe that one is cause he is about to have AA which says to just dumb charges for it

The rotation and priorities are different in AOE during Arcane Surge since your main goal is to send as many 4 charge Barrages as possible, while keeping Nether Precision up. Outside of cooldowns the rotation that you described is correct for both AOE and single target.

using up a CC before Shifting Power after Arcane Soul is a game changer. I was wasting so many CC procs by not utilizing that trick. TY!

soon we weill have 4p which is basically a better GI proc, having them both basically wastes ones of them, so we don't want to just hold the GI.
