YAY to Spring in the dez, blossoms, bees, greenery and building your casa ! Congrats as every moment brings the vision of your home into fruition, AWESOME !
I love my shirt with the house design on it, the cotton is so soft and stretchy, just a really good quality fabric!! I’m glad you are back on the house, and Adeli, I got my package in the mail, thank you so very much! Your goat barn turned out so awesome! Love you all and have a great weekend! ❤😊 Edit: please make shirts that say “Everything’s fine.” 😂❤
You guys are so sweet together and your hard work so inspiring. Been binge watching your builds and just want to express how positive and motivational your whole family is to us all! Thank you for sharing your journey 💙
It's like being there and watching them grow up to be fine young adults, kind, hard working, etc. Keep up the excellent work, everyone! I'm so glad you're back on the house!
Oh my, it's all looking so good! Nice to see the trees and flowers blooming (not sure what those roses were about). The young ones have grown into gorgeous teens...glad you have Levi visiting, he looks like a good addition to the family work crew. And the beautiful goat barn and corral and those happy, healthy kids!
You all are AMAZING! I've learned so much from you, and your videos are so fun and motivating. Thank you for everything you teach us with the best of attitudes, even when it's hard.
I've been following your channel from early on and admire your dedication, work ethic, and ability to learn as you go. You may not have started with building skills but clearly you are clever and handy enough to succeed ultimately. I look forward each week to the next installment and wish you all the best! Jonathan it occurs to me that you and Patrick Simmons of the Doobies bear a resemblance to one another. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when you and Ashley met....and to have heard you play!!!
Looking good! Amazing watching you all working together...such a difference from the first videos where you were working on the solar shed. So many skills developed and refined. But some things remain forever the same, such as Ada's sense of humor. :)
Glad to see the house in progress again & the trees coming back to life. Looking forward to more spring shots of the property. How are the chickens doing?
I would like to say..... y'all are doing a wonderful job. Both with your family and with all your labors to raise your homestead out of the Arizona dust. Patience, kindness, hard work and understanding. Tremendous formula for your vision. Goodonya
This will be a long time bag filling. Seeing some crazy doodles and baby goats in between would be nice. Miss funny Nine ❤️ he made the videos so special.
Love you guys! You make me smile. Giving your family life lessons every day. I look forward to seeing how well your Kids have done in the future. Good kids come from good parents!
YOUR AT A PERFECT HEIGHT AND MOMENT WHERE YOU COULD DO CONCRETE FLOORS IN THE HOUSE PORTION. IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO WORK, SAFER WHEN YOU RUN THE SCAFFOLDING. BUT USE A CEMENT TRUCKS TOO, SAVE EVERYONE AND SAFE EVERYONE'S ENERGY FOR WHEELBARROWS, AND SEE IF YOU CAN OUT SOURCE SOME JOURNEY LEVEL FINISHERS. DONT POUR THE CENTER RING OR THE PATIO JUST YET, JUST THE HOUSE FLOOR. THE ADOBE BAGS WILL ACT AS FORMS, AND YOU ONLY NEED 4" SLAB THICKNESS. BOX OUT THE SHOWER AREAS TO DO AT A LATER TIME, AND RUN CONDUIT FOR ANY FLOOR PLUGS OR ELECTRICAL POWER IN CABINETS. ALL THAT KNOW IS WAY SIMPLIER NOW THEN TO RENT ADDITION EQUIPMENT AND HAVE TO GET INTO SPOTS NOW BLOCKED WITH WALLS. REMEMBER KEEP IT SIMPLE SMILEY 🙂. HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND GOD BLESS EVERYONE.
It's so beautiful there! Buttresses! I like the pretty yellow flowers. I'm so glad you take so much care to do this right guys! Nice job on the buttress! Nice, buttresses done on kitchen wall! Too bad the rain made the buttress wall fall in somewhat. Welcome Levi! I was wondering who you were. Ashley's nephew. Cloud is so chill! Need more dirt! I'm glad you got the three courses done! Yay, finish one more bag! So 18 batches so right in between your guesses! Pretty flowers and cute kids, the goat kind and human kind! Thanks for this video Longnecker family and Levi!
It’s sooo good to see you guys back working on the house! I’ve missed you guys a bunch!!! Can’t wait to see the house progress! You guys are super! Love ya!!
Hi I want to thank Gridlessness for introducing your channel to me , WOW I love what you are constructing , its amazing , and I would have liked to build a home like that here on a property in Queensland Australia , I think it would be perfect for Aussie conditions !! But alas , age and medical problems rule me out , but I will pass your channel on to my son , who might be interested !! Thank you so much for sharing .
Thanks! Yes lots of fun earthbag things happening in Australia. If you go back to one of our first videos for the house, you'll see that this design was actually inspired by the very first earthbag house in Australia :) Watch this: th-cam.com/video/8O6L1LFxQ64/w-d-xo.html and then this: th-cam.com/video/74n2yVEf11k/w-d-xo.html
Hey you hard working peoples! Nice work and great progress! I spoke to you about the baby goats at the meet and greet, however, I have had to repair some septic issues and have not had the time to get my old chicken barn ready for goats, so I cannot get any of them from you. Sorry. Next time. Have a great weekend and take some time to rest and relax! Your friend, Rick
bonjour la famille. many thanks for the vidéo. it's always good to see what you are all up to. someone earlier said, 'the children are growing up !' Adalai's et Ada's respective hair is growing. the boys are great taller and manly looking. earth bags, buttresses and a lack of dirt oh my !
I love your videos but must request that if you have beeping footage to lower the volume by half. Us headphone wearers will appreciate that. I had to rip them off it was so sharp. I completely understand that getting every nuance of video making perfect while doing such hard work is very difficult but this tiny tweak and awareness will bring you guys closer to 100% on your awesome production.
Beeping footage? Not really sure what you're talking about. Is there a specific time in the video you can point to where there's something wrong with the audio?
@@TinyShinyHome when you used the laser level twice. I truly don’t like giving you guys criticism because I’m a huge fan of your family, your positivity and your hard work!
Just trying to make it as accurate as possible to the tone screeching sounds those things make in real life 😂. Jokes aside we edit on headphones and it wasn’t any louder than anything else. Maybe you were using wireless headphones and their compression did something weird to it?
It is a huge cost that may not be reasonable right now. But I was just thinking about how fantastic it would be to have the concrete slab poured after you are a couple courses above your planned floor height. Then you would have a hard flat platform that can easily be swept. And with that hard flat platform, you can use scaffolding to make work easier and safer, since you will have so much work up at high heights. I don’t know if you follow him, but TH-camr Arkopia fell and lost a few months of work while building is latest pole barn. He had scaffolding, but I’m just using him as an example of how bad fall injuries can affect big labor tasks.
Still have quite a few more steps before we're ready to think about pouring a floor :) Mainly it will depend on cost, though since concrete prices have gone through the roof. We may have to focus on what we can do now and save for the floor later.
That totally makes sense. It’s a nicety for easier project management and safety. You already have so much experience doing other buildings without the slab that it isn’t necessary. Just thought I’d share and maybe help your brainstorming. Keep on being awesome, I can’t wait until my family’s life is at a point where we can start our off grid adventure like yours 🤙🏼
they do but that's not for us. we want to touch every inch of this house with our hands. something special about that added care and love into every build.
We shared a lot of that kind of info at the beginning of the build (th-cam.com/video/8O6L1LFxQ64/w-d-xo.html), but the main considerations are the kitchen wall facing our mountains (to the west), and the front door being protected from the elements which come from the southwest (so it's facing north east).
hi, i love the videos a lot, very isnpiring. just a simple question: how to handle termite problem on mud houses? I tried to get the answers in net, but they re not convincing.
Termites are usually more of a wood problem, but you can see in this video we are wrapping the foundation bags in hardware cloth (to keep out rodents) and vapor barrier (to keep the lower bags from wicking up moister into the walls. The vapor barrier should also help protect against termites.
Given how many smart people y'all have, playful with language, and combined with a love of humor, I have to imagine that _butt_-ress has produced some giggles.
Looks great! Wondering if you have had any rodent problems with the other bag structures? Seems worth it to put the hardware cloth in, just in case, but those bags seem too hard for rodents to want to live in. Heard of a lot of rodent problems in hay bale structures though

not sure those are roses, they might be apricot mallow, which does well in the desert, just folded up in the morning…but that’s just a guess…

Have you ever thought about borrowing the bag filler tractor from My Little Homestead??? They have an awesome machine to fill the bags!

Glad to see the house building again!! You guys have to have a house party build!!
Could you build a greenery wall with the earth bags by filling them with dirt and seeds like a chia pet? It might look cool.
The roots would probably reduce the structural integrity over time.
@@TinyShinyHome not as part of the house but something you could build separately
Yeah I didn't figure it would be part of the house. But even just a stand alone wall would have the same issues.
Looks good guys 👌 I often wish there was an easier quicker way to fill the bags especially when it gets so hot in the desert 🏜 😳
It is just moving dirt. I guess getting, mixing, moving, loading, and then tamping.
@haroldbrown1674 you're right, it's moving dirt, just with extra steps. :)
wow harsh , left ya hangin'. lol.
I love seeing cloud sleep-supervising in the midst of it all😀

That mus`be that newest method called the 'Hokey-Pokey' Tamp method!
Some Castles and Palaces in Europe have buttresses.Every castle needs one, LIKE YOURS !

Do you think the buttresses would be necessary in a 30ft round hyper adobe home? No internal walls and rooms
