Are you worried about getting a job after au pairing? What are your plans? Let us know in the comments!
I am aupair in Germany can i work as a kindergarten Erzieherin after my aupair year. Can aupair apply for visa after aupair year?
I am currently Aupairing in New Jersey, USA. I have enrolled at a school for my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I also did a Home Health Aide course and the company has an option for you to get hired by them or find someone else. I told them I can't work for them because of the status of my Visa (J1) but they said they can provide me with an employment letter so I can apply for a work visa so that I can join their company as a Health Aide worker.
I’m planning to take an year after college to be an au pair. I’m just scared- I’m a computer science major and wonder if universities would reject me for doing something “not so Science” 😕
I honestly don't think they'll see it that way. You'll show that you're a well-rounded candidate. But, if you are worried, why not do something computer science-related while you're abroad? Perhaps you could find an internship for your spare time, ask to shadow people in the industry, or read a lotttt of books on the subject that you can mention (keep a note of them!) Alternatively, really throw yourself into learning the local language and get your certificate to prove you're fluent - this will impress them and show you're an exceptional candidate... The benefit of au pairing is the free time you'll have to work on achieving other goals, so before you head off, make a plan of how you can use this time to your advantage! Let us know how it goes too!!!

Dear au pair oh pairs, I really like your chanell, I'm sure you've helped a lot of People out, and saved a lot of people from horror experience thx to this chanell! And I hope you can help me out in this situation that I have now🙈 in February 2020 I was going to go to china to be an au pair. I was before that very unsure about the au pair organisation though, but at that time when I had applied (Juli 2019) my life felt terrible, hated my job, and didn't know what to do with my life and I just felt like anything would be better than being where I was, I wasn't afraid about what would happen to me bcs I felt like I had nothing to loose. But then Corona came and my travel got postponed until undecided date. The months went though (did not have a job) but have been living at my parents place🙈 but I find my way back to something I love and always have but never given myself the time to do it and that is to paint💖 know it's a hard business doing art buy I really feel like I want to try! But here's the struggle, they are now talking about opening up the boarders to china, but I'm no longer sure that I want to go bcs. I feel like I have something to lose that I have been lacking a lot these last year's (joy!💖). And I've started to get some hope for my future again. But my love for china is still there, the family feels nice and I'm afraid to regret it I I don't go. But the organisation has told me that I should apply for a tourist visa first and then for a cultural exchange visa when I get there, and that I should not tell the embassy here about that bcs they say that they are not familiar with it. This is what's making me so scared to go as well, is it common to do it like that??? Also I have only videochatted with the family once and the father wasn't even in the videochatt, (really stupid of me to not check it out more and videochatt more I know but I was desperate to get away a year ago🙈) and now I already has signed a contract and will have to pay mony if I don't go (but maby I will try to see if it's not as strict now when its like it is in the world and bcs. Our government suggest not to travel to china until mars 2020, but don't know if it will help) I'm sorry for a very long messenge but I really need help, would you have gone if you where in my situation? Thank you for everything you do, the au pair world really needs this chanell!
Thank you in advance
Much love from Sweden💖
Kind regards Johanna
Hi Johanaa, thank you for your message!
Everyone has their own reasons for becoming an au pair. Personally, I felt lost as to where I should go before college, so I took a year to grow, travel, meet new people and work. I loved that decision because it was what I needed and what I wanted. I cannot tell you what to do, because that's the beautiful thing, you are the owner of your future and you get to decide how it looks like!
I know it probably wasn't the answer you were looking for but honestly, the best thing to do is to listen to your gut and do what it says. I can tell you something though, you will not regret becoming an au pair, because regardless of your experience, it will be a year that will help you grow as an individual.
If you do decide to go to China, don't hesitate to contact us!
Good luck!

you guys are sooooooo helpful, could anyone perhaps help me about visas?? I have my TEFL and a bachelor degree and want to teach english im on an aupair visa but i dont want a student visa asi dont want the extra costs of paying for a course and i wanna focus on teaching. Does anyone know if there is a different visa to be able to work except the working visa, as french schools dont sponsor your visa and my country is not eligible for a working holiday visa.
