Wow, a Classic Voice that hearkens from the past, The Ancestors and those of The Struggle who have endured through The Grace, reminiscent of the Legendary Marian Anderson, thank you Brandie for sharing your Gift with us
Refrain 1. Beams of heaven as I go, through the wilderness below, guide my feet in peaceful ways, turn my midnights into days. When in the darkness I would grope, faith always sees a star of hope, and soon from all life's grief and danger I shall be free someday. Refrain: I do not know how long 'twill be, nor what the future holds for me, but this I know: if Jesus leads me, I shall get home someday. 2. Oftentimes my sky is clear, joy abounds without a tear; though a day so bright begun, clouds may hide tomorrow's sun. There'll be a day that's always bright, a day that never yields to night, and in its light the streets of glory I shall behold someday. (Refrain) 3. Harder yet may be the fight; right may often yield to might; wickedness a while may reign; Satan's cause may seem to gain. There is a God that rules above, with hand of power and heart of love; if I am right, he'll fight my battle, I shall have peace someday. (Refrain) 4. Burdens now may crush me down, disappointments all around; troubles speak in mournful sigh, sorrow through a tear-stained eye. There is a world where pleasure reigns, no mourning soul shall roam its plains, and to that land of peace and glory I shall want to go someday. (Refrain )
Valère BERTHOMÉ I have listened to Oleta Adam’s version and other versions of this song. This song was beautifully performed, this lady is singing in High soprano ( if the is such a thing). Oleta Adam sang in a lower note, Delores Washington sang in a different note. Every one does not sing in the same note therefore; you should not say it is awful. Until you are prepared to go up there and sing the same song. We should see this song as praise, majestic praise to THE LORD JESUS CHRIST: saying LORD JESUS no matter what I go through on earth, help me to run and finish this race because I know this is not my home but I will hold on to you and get home some day. In THY MIGHTY NAME.
OK ok. Take it easy guys. I do not criticize this singer. I will say I don't like this lyrical version. I prefer so far a gospel version like oleta adams. I also like classical music and opera and lyrical singer like Jessy Norman. I just think, and this only my personal opinion, that this song is better sung in a gospel style like oleta adams. For my defense I've wrote this comment few days after the death of my aunt. My feelings were exacerbated at this time. This song (oleta adams version) was broadcast on her burial. It's one of my very favorite songs. Forgive me... 😊
